crookedhalo Posted February 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2017 We stayed at the Sheraton Convention Center right by the PanAm pier. Beautiful location and hotel. Infinity pool overlooking the water and the pier. Food by pool was good and rooms were very nice. Easy to get a shuttle to/from the terminal.:D
bouhunter Posted February 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2017 We like Condado Plaza Hilton for location. Lots of restaurants and things close by. Embassy Suites nice two and not far from beach. Sent from my LG-D850 using Forums mobile app
floatel_lvr Posted February 22, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2017 We have stayed at both La Concha and the InterContinental. Both were very nice properties. Any hotel will allow you to have your luggage held pre-checkin.
sealeggs Posted February 22, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2017 We are partial to Embassy Suites in Isla Verde. Nice cocktail reception nightly and a short 2 block walk to the beach. Also a hot breakfast. Plenty of restaurants around too.
mlmbar Posted February 22, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Hyatt Place and Hyatt House at Convention Center are wonderful. They are new, great staff, on the bay so you can see the ship, and NO resort tax
akcruz Posted February 22, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 22, 2017 If you want to be in Old San Juan try the Sheraton. Convenient to many great restaurants, shops, and a short walk to both forts. There is a pool on the roof, but no beach. If you are looking for beach, I second the Marriott Stellar is. Casey2 Posted February 22, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 22, 2017 We stayed in the Plaza de Armas in Old San Juan. No beach or pool but in the heart of town and walking distance to most everything in Old San Jan. Reasonable prices.
davekathy Posted February 22, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 22, 2017 We stay at Embassy Suites Isla Verde or Hampton Inn Isla Verde. Both have a secured area to store luggage. Both have a nightly mangers cocktail reception. Both have a complimentary breakfast in the morning. Both are conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants and stores. Hola, Depending on when you'll be cruising & which hotel in SJ, keep in mind the possible traffic issues getting to Pier. There is only one way into both Pan American or Old San Juan Pier so if there's something going on in Old San Juan that day, it can cause heavy traffic. Especially at the roundabout to Pan Am. Pier. Give yourself enough time - would suggest going in the morning. We usually head out at least by 11 a.m. NJ
cruzgryphon Posted February 22, 2017 #13 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Add me to the list recommending the Sheraton Convention Centre. When booking be careful because there are two Sheraton's in San Juan. One is in Old San Juan and the other (which I'm recommending) is by the convention centre. Happy cruising. "Best" is different things to many people... do you want to be right in Old San Juan so that you can leave your luggage and site see both the day before and morning of your cruise right out your front door? Or do you want to be very far from Old San Juan in a more modern "resort" type hotel with a pool and so forth? The above responses are an approximate split of both and will be dependent on what you want to do. Also, are you looking for more luxury/expensive or do you want budget/medium cost? RFerrington Posted February 22, 2017 #16 Share Posted February 22, 2017 IF you are eligible for a US government rate you cannot beat the Ritz Carlton. It's a bit pricey at full price but if you are eligible for a government rate it is a great deal. We even got a government rate during Christmas week a few years ago. Anyone know what transportation options are available to make the 5 minute trip from hotel to the cruise port? Hi, Not sure which cruise port you're going to - Pan American or Old San Juan. Depends on which cruise line. But either way, you pretty much have to taxi to either Port. The P.A. Pier maybe looks close from Hyatt but it's really a long walk in. Thanks for the information. We're going out on the Adventure OTS on 18 March. I intended to use a taxi to the P. A. terminal but thought I'd ask those that had been there before to make sure a taxi was the best option.
