Here how it works. You put your money down, watch the dice or cards for a while, then walk away ;)

And if you need any more help, we'll set up some practice games in my cabin.

Bring cash!

Tables open at noon on sea days. Slots open at 9am. They're both open late, usually until 1 am or 2 am unless no one is left in the casino at which point they close earlier.

I play a lot of cards (3-card poker and ultimate Texas Holdem) and have done really well and really bad.

I play the slots. I set myself an amount per cruise.

On our cruises last year I earnt enough casino points to get $800 of cruise vouchers $500 for me and $300 for my wife. On that cruise I spent about £1000 in the casino

We used that to book our 3 day cruise a few weeks ago. Earlier this year I got invited to a casino VIP event. It was at Aspers Casino Stratford. When I got there I was given a cruise certificate and we used that to book our week on indi in a couple of weeks. Whilst I was there I won £8000 on the slots! my biggest single win to date.

When we were onboard a couple of weeks ago I was told by the casino host that we were now casino vips and we we would get comp'd drinks in the casino. Whilst there I earnt another $300 in cruise certs and came away $1000 up.

Apparently the vip status lasts for a year, but earnt enough points on this last mini cruise to extend it for another year so it will cover our cruise on Anthem in the Summer too.

All in all I think with the certificates and free cruise I'm more than happy to spend my cash in the casino and if I don't win then I know I've still got something for it.

My biggest win in craps was after 6 solid hours of losing but very very slowly. Was down to my last $200 so I just put $50 on the pass line and $150 on the odds and the next die roll was a winner.

Generally speaking, I prefer craps on the dark side laying full odds but usually over a long period of time get exactly the 2% loss the math tells me I should be losing. I never expect to win long term in any game with a house edge.

My last cruise spent a good amount of time at the casino. Came out ahead about $400.00 Two nights I lost $100.00 two numbers up $200.00. Made the biggest gains in roulette. Won $50.00 in Blackjack, decided to join my friends and play some roulette. My favorite bet in roulette is the first 14 second 14 etc.. Pays 3-1. Hit a few. Then started using $5.00 chips, and hit a number. Had a friend put $75.00 on a number, joined him and put $10.00 on the number, and there is $375.00 right there. Pure luck.

No clue how the slots do, but the games are pretty much around the same odds as other places, but they do edge more towards the house than a casino in Vegas would.

On sea days the slots are frequently operational in the morning and between 9 and 11am you can accrue double points. Table games usually open a bit later. Tightness of the slots seems to vary from day to day but your experiences may differ from ours.

Not sure when you last sailed but since recent changes were implemented with Casino program double points are no longer offered.

I played the Key Master game. Thought I came close to winning. When I got back to my room I checked the Internet for tips and found out there are two settings on the machine that rig it to be impossible to win. The prize racks that are empty are not because someone won, but to make it look like someone won.

I think RCI still has non-smoking on formal nights, something like 5pm to midnight -- not sure of the exact time. Other than that, the casino can be rather smoky, even in the non-smoking areas.

As for winning, I've lost much more than I've won, but I have come out ahead on about 5 of my 30+ cruises, mostly playing slots.

Non smoking on formal nights varies from ship to ship and sailing to sailing. I agree it can get smoky.

On Royal, the casino only takes cash to get chips for live games or to play machines. You can also use cash out tickets in some machines. You can use your SeaPass card in some machines to accumulate player's points, but not to play the game.

We used our SeaPass card the whole time to draw money from our shipboard account while playing the slots. It was convenient... a little TOO convenient, which is just the way they like it ;p

At the end of the cruise we paid what was on our bill, including the amount we had played on the slots.

Roulette

First 12 (1-12), Second (13-24), Third (25-36) not 14

Odds 2-1 not 3-1

Just wondering.

How early or late to gamble?

Do they take cash? Chips? Seapass/WOW band charge per bet?

Comp'd drinks or snacks?

Has anyone won cash? Trips? Mechandise? What games are there? Blackjack, roulette, poker, Pa'Chinko?

I tend to do very well on penny slots .I have won over $2000.00 on recent cruises and only lost once in all the years I have been cruising.

I think payout might be 3:1 for either thirds or columns. Red/black pays 2:1. With 0 and 00 there is still a house edge on any of those plays.

I've never played the slots on a cruise ship (always heard you can't win) until last Christmas. Sailing on HAL and due to wind/high seas, we didn't get to go to their private island on the last day. I ended up drinking a little too much because I was so disappointed. Guess the alcohol gave me the courage to go to the casino because I decided to play some slots to pass the time. I walked out with $350 more than I started with, which was a nice surprise.

Hope the Allure will let me win a little something in a little over a week!!

What ship?

Explorer

But maybe I'm wrong? It works that way on Carnival; I don't remember feeding cash (oh, so much cash!) into the machines on Explorer...

Do they have Video Roulette?

Rhapsody does. They also pulled the craps table and added a 3rd roulette wheel for the European market

BTW, low limit BJ ($3) is supposed to end at 2PM, but it had been going until dinner time most days

Unless things have changed recently, I don't recall any machine allowing play via SeaPass card on RC.

Payout is..... you bet one, if you win you get to keep your bet of 1 and pay out is 2.

Still 2-1 payout. Actually calling it odds is a little off. Can't be 3-1 because of 0 and 00.

That's not true my Dh won $ 200.00 cash on the key came. Plus we saw someone win the iPad.
