Coastal kitchen question (Junior Suite)

Being able to choose a variety of food from WJ and enjoying it in the atmosphere of CK? Sounds like the best of both worlds to me. :D

On the Anthem there is a door in Coastal Kitchen that opens directly into the Windjammer. I have seen many people go out into the WJ and return with something for their meal. Some people also depart through that door, presumably to pick up some dessert on their way out. ;)

Nice, I imagine Ovation will be the same. :D

In this class, the ships ARE identical. (besides after-the-fact décor) (except for Johnny Rockets. That's only on Anthem. Quantum and Ovation have Panda Express, or some title with Panda in it) (and Quantum's Music Hall has been partly turned into an extension of the casino)

Hate to ask because but I am having a friendly debate with my brother in law. While I have no intensions to wear dress shorts in Coastal Kitchen he is convinced that they allow them. He said he was on Anthem last November and saw several gentlemen wearing shorts in Coastal Kitchen. I need to hear it from the Pros before I can concede that he was right. Dan

On Allure....

I have pictures of people in shorts and t shirts in CK. Shorts, swim suits, flip flops, t shirts, towels wrapped around wet clothing and even what I would call pajamas in the SL during evening hours.

Were you able to do this from Dinning in Cruise Planner or another page? We sail first week in April and I just don’t see anything? Is it possible that this option is outside of Cruise Planner and on the page one selects MDR time?

For our cruise on Anthem (this Friday! :D) we booked CK through the Cruise Planner. But as I reported earlier, I was not able to do so when we first booked the cruise a few months ago; at some point, I don't know exactly when since I wasn't checking that often (having been told by RCI that I could NOT book CK until I was on board), CK did show up in the Cruise Planner.

My only advice is to keep checking.

Good luck, and have a great cruise!

Does it show up in the Dinning options on Cruise Planner? We heard Harmony has this option but not yet confirmed.

Yes, if CK can be reserved pre-cruise, it will show up under Dining in the Cruise Planner.

We have not cruised 7+ days for the most part during the summer months as those seem to be the highest rate times. We have taken 3 day cruises in summer but rates don’t seem to be comparable. Our cheapest GS rate has been late January I suspect because of off season???

We have a 12 year old son so we cruise when he is out of school. Unfortunately we pay for airfare also which sometimes cost more than the cruise! Because of school vacations, we are held to higher prices most of the time.

The cost of MSC for 14 days is what Royal wants for a gs on oasis for 7 days. Will be trying it out and seeing if we like MSC. The cost difference is substantial.

Wore shorts for dinner on non formal nights on allure and oasis and have not encountered a problem.

Yes. I know about the airfare. We cruised on Freedom out of Barcelona and the international airfare was more than our GS price for 7 days. Same issue with this coming August and our Jewel trip out of Rome.

We were on Harmony and they got us food from the MDR to CK. They just asked if we minded if it took a few extra minutes. I never even noticed if they took those extra minutes.

Summer we are trying MSC Seaside out of Miami. Will be back in October on Allure while you and Laura are on the TA from europe I believe.

Will be back in Feb 2019 but haven't decided what ship. Might have to do serenade again as we are having a great time today. Maybe you and Laura don't have a cruise booked for beginning of Feb? I can count on one hand the amount of children I have seen on this cruise so far.

There are almost 200 b2b cruisers this morning. Stopped by mdr to see where our table is located and thought the mdr was open for lunch. There was a long line of people waiting to be seated for the b2b luncheon.

Diamond lounge this evening had no overflow. Mario Reyes was doing his best when I peeked in but it was standing room ONLY. Talked to a few cruisers that stayed on and they told me vortex was not used as overflow last cruise either. Around 300 d, 150 d+ and 35 p on board this week. This is unconfirmed numbers so far.

The CL was not as busy. There were open seats even at 5pm so am surprised if there are that many d+ sailing.

Was reserving CK on the website only for Pinnacles and GS and above or could JS cruisers also reserve CK?

You can’t reserve CK anymore must be done onboard or if you’re star class your genie can reserve it. We are in Sky class and will have to wait til we board
