Cost per soda?

 Share

Recommended Posts

my husband and I have the UBP, of course. So I purchased the kids’ packages for my kids. But I’m realizing, it’s not like I’ll be letting them have unlimited sodas, maybe 1 per day, 2 max. I wonder if it’s better to just not buy the package, and pay individually (assuming I can cancel it)?

9 night cruise so max of 18 sodas per kid, more likely less as we’ll be off the ship most days, so maybe 12 sodas each...how much are they if paid individually?

And are virgin cocktails included in the kids/teens packages? I’m thinking not

Well I don’t know if I can get a refund anyway, but may not be worth it...

Shirley Temple's are but none of the fancy virgin ones.

Sodas are $3.45 + 20% gratuity = $4.14 each x 18 = $74.52 per kid. Assuming that you stop at 2. Menu: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=55866369&postcount=162

Thanks for the menu. I thought I saw the 3+ dollar price somewhere else too. I wasn't too happy the one time in a bar when I decided to splurge on a soda when I didn't get the package and I got a small watered down fountain version for that price. Not even a can.

Does anyone happen to know if the diet lemon-lime soda is available on the package, or is it only available in the can?

Plus - I didn't see Mt Dew and Diet Mt Dew on the menu. Are either of those still available? It has been a couple of years since the last time I sailed NCL. Bad enough I can't bring my Coke Zero, now I might have to go without DMD as well. Good thing we are in port every day. ;p Just kidding, I'm not quite that bad.

I would like to know though before we decide whether or not we are buying the soda cards.

Yes, you can get a refund. You have to call before you cruise.

I just did this on Monday - teens are on a health lick.

My understanding is that if you have the UBP, you must also purchase the kids UBP. Soda is not self serve. Order from the bar even in the buffet. Glasses are small so it is like a half a can of soda at best.

Only the first two passengers have to have matching drink packages... thus if one adult and one child, you have to choose the UBP for the adult and the kids version for the kids. 3rd and 4th passengers don’t have to do anything.

Apologies. I must be reading this incorrectly on the NCL website:

Enjoy a wide selection of soft drinks, beers, spirits, cocktails, wines by the glass and bottled or draft beer up to and including $15*USD*during your entire cruise.

Prepaid @ $89.00*USD*per person per day x Cruise Days plus 20% gratuity and beverage service charge.

Beverage packages must be purchased for all guests staying within the same stateroom, additional stateroom, adjoining stateroom or travel with.

Individuals under the age of 21 will be required to purchase the Soda Program

If you are buying UBP then any adult over 21 in the room has to purchase it. If you choose it as a perk it goes to the first two guests in the cabin and no one else is required to buy it.

I've never inquired about what happens if someone under 21 is guest 2.

I would think this would depend on your kids age. If they are teenagers and are away from you a lot get the package. If the are like 11 and younger you may get away from not buying it.

The soda as mentioned is not much and gets watered down so kids waste them.

The servers did not charge me most of the time when I ordered soda for my son when he was younger. Now as a teen I just get him the package

Oh, that’s different from what I’ve always been told by NCL. I’ve always heard the first two must purchase (or choose free) the same package whike additional guest were not required.

When chosen as a promo, first two must take the same promos with no purchase required for the other guests. When purchased outright, all passengers in cabin must purchase a package (Beverage or soda).

You do not have to purchase soda package for all in your cabin. I walk onboard and purchase soda package for myself only. I do not have to purchase it for my DH.

(We get free drinks in casino, but I like a diet soda at meals.)

from Norwegians T&C Packages must be purchased by all qualifying individuals residing in the stateroom or additional staterooms under the same method of payment for the entire length of the cruise.

I'm not saying you haven't been allowed to do this, but if you have, an exception to the stated terms was made.

It might be if you pre-purchase ahead of time that you need to buy for all. However, I've never had a problem purchasing the soda package after boarding. I usually have a lot of OBC to use so I always purchase it onboard. They have never asked me about others in my cabin.

I NEED my DMD...seriously does anyone know if it’s available onboard?
