Hi Andrew and family

Just wanted to let you know that I'm following your amazing trip. I must get back to Alaska. These last few years my "cold north" trips have been to the Canadian Rockies . That's also spectacular but after 4 visits my husband still hasn't seen a moose!! As a south floridian the mountains , lakes and hikes to waterfalls make for an exhilarating vacation .

Please keep posting we are here waiting for your updates and appreciate the time you spend doing it.

We saw moose cow today and her twins and a bull moose separately. We also saw a male caribou. Photos later tonight.

Not sure if you actually saw my post about Juneau and Mendenhall. If you are doing a private excursion, you might want to get in touch with them to make sure the flooding isn't going to be an issue. I bet ship excursions will be affected too.

Been following along. Great video, but you just blew it for me because you included snow in the video.

 

I have been trying to convince Susan to do an Alaska cruise, and she says she doesn’t want to go anywhere cold. Maybe I just have to keep her from seeing the cold parts.

 

Thanks for doing this so everyone can follow along. I know the reports take a lot of time. I have only done after action reports and have never tried a “live”. Thought about trying one, but it may be too much pressure to complete each day.

We have a couple of ship excursions planned for Juneau so hopefully this will not effect us. I have been following the forecast for all of our stops and I had seen the warning pop up, but I greatly appreciate your heads up.

We have had amazing weather every day. Going forward it looks like every day on the ship should be great too. The scopes give a nice flavour as well.

So who is ready for a Lucy sighting? We saw her on video and took some screen shots. Our neighbour stopped in and then left on the camera system. He dropped Lucy off after she spent the night there. They are about half a mile away from us, but it is actually where she was born.

 

Oh, that Lucy.

We survived Denali. It was an over load on our senses. From amazing scenery, to animal sightings, to history, to washroom stops we were overloaded. Tyga, Ecotone, Lichen, Mega Fauna, sub arctic desert region and Barren Ground; we learned about it all. Well, at least I’d heard about it all. There were even a few savage mosquitos.

 

We stopped at the Savage Cabin. It was a stop on the Park Ranger sled trail that was used all year. In the winter dog sleds slept in the outside houses. Each cabin was 10 miles from one another.

 

 

 

 

When the shutters were closed at night the nails on the doors helped to provide protection from beers.

Now some wildlife. We saw moose with twin calves, a bull moose, caribou, a mouse, and birds. I have a few picks of them.

We were greeted by a Park Ranger when we entered the park. She shared a lot of information with us such as the size alone at 6 million acres and that the park is 101 years old.

 

 

 

 

The parks also built structures that the visitors were savage too.

 

 

 

I won’t share the savagery that is found below but be afraid of the splash back.

The scenery all day was amazing. On that note we left the park.

 

 

 

The temps are at seasonal highs, and they say maybe the best weather all summer.

 

After a few hours we arrived at our hotel for the night. It a nice place.

 

 

 

Do you think they could make the fireplace bigger? Are they compensating?

 

 

 

 

I sure would not want to find this guy around the corner on the trail.

We ate dinner at the Lodge. Great food with a view to match.

So that’s it for tonight. It’s impossible to scale back all the photos to just a few. Our cruise ship luggage tags are on our bags for tomorrow and during the day we are headed south towards Seward and Radiance of the Seas. We stop in Anchorage along the way, as well as an animal sanctuary.

 

Our cabin awaits for us tomorrow. It will be nice to be in the same spot for more than one night. Now that being said some of you might be curious to where that spot is, so now is the time to share.

 

 

 

Our luggage will be at the ship before we get there, other than our carry on. We are expected to arrive between 4-5 and muster is at 6pm.

 

As for tomorrow our alarm is set for 6am and we hit the road at 8am. I will do some updates from the road.

Andrew, thanks for the trip report. What an amazing time that you have had already! Your video is so great, beautiful and peaceful!

 

We did a few days in Anchorage on our own last year after the cruise. We went to the animal sanctuary only it was a very wet, rainy and cold day for us. I think you will have a nicer day. The grizzlies there are awesome. Check out their claws!

BTW, you will have the perfect spot to see Hubbard Glacier from your room and balcony. Order room service and you don’t even have to change out of your PJ’s![emoji846]
