American Express Offer Is Back

I got the offer and am past final payment. I'd like to purchase OBC to try and get the credit. On the Cruise Personalizer there are options to pre-pay gratuities, purchase casino credit, reserve specialty restaurants... What's the difference, can't generic onboard credit be used for all of those expenses? Thanks.

I think you could make payments for each of those things, just as long as the charge is to Princess. And for the items that you can't prepay, then buy OBC to make $750. It will be refunded if you don't spend it.

Yes, generic OBC can be used for all of those once on the ship. You cannot buy those pre-cruise with OBC.

I just tried the online chat Amex customer service and I wasn’t able to get the offer for my delta gold card.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

A few times ago I had it on my card, my husband did not. I called and spent quite a bit of time on the phone with customer service and found that if an offer is not on the card, they cannot post it to the card...end of story

This worked like a charm. I loaded the offer onto my AmEx, then made a $750 payment on my 2019 cruise on my cruise personalizer with it. I then got an email saying congratulations for using your AmEx promo, or something like that. Today (two days later) the $150 statement credit is on my account. Very easy and a great deal!

I added the offer to my Blue Cash Card & had my T/A apply $750 to my upcoming cruise account. Today I received the following message from A/E “We appreciate you using your Amex Offer at Princess Cruises. You'll be rewarded with a $150.00 statement credit, which will automatically be applied to your statement if your purchase meets the offer terms.”

When I look at my account I don’t see the charge or the credit. What has been other people’s experiences?

We got the email one day and the $150 credit appeared on the statement the next day.

The offer was available on our Gold Amex. Bought the drink package for 2 with the card as we planned to purchase it anyway. Wasn't sure if we would get the credit or not. The charge of $965.86 was pending for 2 days. Today the charge is no longer pending and received a account credit of 150.00. Very happy and surprised.

In theory not allowed, viz:

Excludes if not booked at time of reservation: airfare booked through cruise line, excursions, Prepaid food/beverage programs, prepaid gratuities, prepaid wi-fi packages, spa packages, photo & video packages, onboard celebrations, luggage valet services, Travel Insurance, Vacation Protection, motorcoach program, charters, meetings and incentive bookings.

If you had multiple AmEx cards it used to be possible toget around an offer's "1 cashback per cardholder" limit through the "tab trick." Word online is that AmEx caught on and it's no longer a possibility. (I did an experiment and no, doesn't work.)

What was your experiment that did not work?

a) the offer showing but unable to add it to a different type card?

b) the offer showing but unable to add it to the same type card in a different person's name?

c) other?

I added the offer to both my card and my husband's card. Then made 750 dollars payments with both cards foe our Panama Canal cruise scheduled foe April. About 20 minutes later I got emails confirming that we each used the offer anf would get the credit
