dssking Posted January 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2019 For the few that responded last time, THANK YOU. Second Go Around and more direct : Has anyone ever boarded an NCL ship RECENTLY with a drone ? Calling NCL yielded no results other than what the customer service rep reads off of their site. SO.....
phillyguy31 Posted January 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2019 What others have experienced really doesn't matter, you can't tell the security officer that MrX from CC was allowed so I should be as well. If the policy is no drones(and that is what it is) then you should expect it to be taken and stored until the end of the cruise. If they deviate from the policy then you are ahead but there is little you can do if they decide to enforce the policy.

The answer is still that it is not allowed on the ship. Like, throw it in the trash before going through security like water bottles. If you get a sympathetic security guy that will “hold it for you”, they are breaking the written policy of the cruise line.

SMH And the answer still is that if anyone has done it, it was a violation of cruise line policy and should not be expected on any other voyage. It is equivalent of asking if anyone has recently boarded a ship with another PROHIBITED item (select your favorite from the list). 1. All illegal narcotics/drugs. (Including Marijuana prescribed for medical purposes and other items used as drug paraphernalia. This includes Hookah Pipes). 2. All firearms including replicas, imitations, non-firing weapons, starting pistols and their components 3. Air, BB or pellet pistols or rifles 4. Any other projectile-weapon or item that resembles or can be mistaken as a firearm (e.g., paint ball guns) 5. All ammunition or replica ammunition for listed line items 2, 3 & 4 6. All explosives, component parts (i.e. detonators) including imitation explosives and devices 7. Fireworks, flares, and pyrotechnics 8. Martial Arts Weapons (i.e. throwing stars, flails) 9. Knives with a blade longer than 4 inches/10.16 cm 10. Open razors 11. Swords, Skean Dhus, or Kirpans 12. Spears or spear guns 13. Crossbows, crossbow bolts, and long bow arrows 14. Blunt weapons including knuckle dusters, brass knuckles, clubs, telescopic batons, batons, flails or nunchaku 15. Items containing incapacitating substances (e.g. gas guns, tear gas sprays, mace, phosphorus, acid and other dangerous chemicals that could be used to maim or disable 16. Restraining Devices (i.e. handcuffs, leg, and head restraining straps) 17. Flammable substances and hazardous chemicals. (e.g., petrol, methylated spirits, paint thinners, lighter fuel, etc.) 18. Any other item made, adapted or intended for use as an offensive weapon 19. Stun devices (i.e. Tazers and Stun Guns) 20. Large batteries 21. Items brought on board the vessel and not supplied by the Company containing any kind of heating element, such as but not limited to: immersion heaters, heating blankets, clothing irons, water heaters, coffee machines with heating/hot plates, etc. 22. Any remotely controlled or autonomously flying devices, toys or drones 23. Self-balancing hover boards, air wheels, scooters, or Segway’s 24. don't-use-real-name Posted January 12, 2019 #18 Share Posted January 12, 2019 1 hour ago, effinaround said: I'm curious as to why sat phones are on the list. Kind of a blanket statement - you will not have fun - leave your toys home - - - *"BUT"* In the overabundance of safety - you can NOT use your cell phone on a commercial aircraft (while inflight) - - - Now carry that forward - that Satellite phone may could possibly affect the navigation and safety of the ship. YES far reaching but I is not the one making the rules. Satellite phones have a great deal more signal power than the cell phone and can be operated in remote areas without the need of an amplifying repeating source i.e. cell tower or on a ship the ships own communication system. If this was war time I can see the need for strict controls (loose lips {stray signals} sink ships) ! But this is not that time and we are not cruising the shores of Eastern Africa - the Pirates of the Caribbean are only in the movies - but then James Bond could be lurking in the Casino waiting for the next curtain call ? One of the things that does come to mind is the registration of electronic signal generating equipment in foreign countries - NCL is obligated to comply with these regulations - the master of the ship {Captain} is responsible for the enforcement under the penalty of WHAT ? I don't know - I would not like to find out either ! One can see how far the enforcement of issues are handled with NCL - for instance the WATER issue - - - As for the matter of electronics that generate a signal - perhaps you should have diplomatic immunity to entertain the use of the Satellite phone - The USA is in ShutDown mode and wouldn't want to talk to you anyway ! Well, you still haven't answered the question, instead you chose to remain off topic by restating what was made very clear in the first topic OP posted. hmmm 8 hours ago, Kmkub said: OP created a second post in the same day, simply because he didn't like the (truthful) answers his was getting on his earlier post. That's really against forum guidelines & rules. OP asked an entirely different question. First question was if drones are allowed (No) and second question was whether anyone had an recent experiences. A legitimate different question. But instead of moving on by when one didn't have any experiences, people decide to hop in with their judgmental commentary. Laszlo Posted January 12, 2019 #23 Share Posted January 12, 2019 Just bring it, if they find it and they might they will store it. When you get to a port you can take it off the ship. I did this in Aruba, Bonaire, St Lucia and St Kitts. Their was myself and 10-12 others who brought theirs also
