Just putting out there Navigator had damage to the stabiliser before it left for its transatlantic trip. maybe the repairs are taking longer than they thought.

That's been fixed.  In fact it's documented in this post:

Ok they have done 100 the crews they hire have done How Many ?   Its like building a House you know how long each segment takes . That's why You schedule it in. They are saying weather has affected the upper decks , What its rained for a Month in the Bahamas . You wouldn't do the upper decks first when its nice or when the weather is nice ? But what do I know I just have common sense .

Houses are notorious for getting behind schedule when being built.

Yes. $104.50 each. Plus the $104.82 in taxes each, which since not part of the cruise fare will not be counted for the credit I am sure. It is not that the cruise was that price, we had $300 in casino coupons applied as well. I am sure Casino Royale will allow us to use those again as well. So like I said.. no big deal for us. The only thing that will be different on a rebook, is I will be going solo, because my other half will not be able to take any more time from May-Oct... busy months for them, and getting the Alaska in August was like pulling teeth.

Oooh...Alaska in August!  My favorite time to go!  Nice!  🙂

Just curious, what happens in an instance like this where you have booked through Air to Sea?

Do you fare better than those who booked their airfare independently?

I am curious to know the answer to this as well.  Would Air to Sea rebook you or would you still be out of money for the flight?

Depends on what they were doing.  Maybe the work on the upper decks was scheduled to happen the entire time of the dry dock.  Or, logistically, they had to wait because they were using those decks for staging items off and on the ship and couldn't start the work on upper decks until that had cleared.  These drydocks are very tightly scheduled.  Based on what they were scheduled to update and the long bouts of rain we have had in south and central Florida the last month, I'm thinking they just had a lot of work and the number of rain days far exceeded what they had planned for.

Thing Is I don't have a problem with any of it , It is what it is . If they are behind so be it . What I have  a problem with is if we get that letter next week … saying OH SORRY , and they knew this week it was coming . We lost an entire week of timing of being able of getting out there finding something else.

They would have been working on the upper decks since day 1.  It’s not like they left it to the last minute.

My guess is they were hoping to get it done in time.  The rain forecast just four days ago was only for a light scattered shower or two in the forecast models.  Over the last few days to now, it changed to more heavy long duration rains in Freeport.  They were probably hoping for the former but ran out of time when the forecast became the later last night.

I think it is good that they canceled.  I was on the first Empress cruise when she was returned to the fleet.  Originally booked the 14th sailing, but they canceled the first 13 and should have canceled ours also.  Not enough food on board, pans and stoves not compatible so what they did have was undercooked, no a/c in a lot of places, some cabins without water.  Then they didn’t input credit card info correctly so literally hundreds of people were sent to Guest Services after they made it through the very, very long line to disembark.  My late SO, who was normally very calm and considerate, raised such a fuss in the GS area that we were given a special escort off the ship to keep him from stirring up the crowd.  We had a good time anyway and I look at that cruise fondly, but will never again book a ship just out of dry dock.

Thanks!  That's very good to know.  Been contemplating using them on our next cruise.  This made the decision easier.

Depends what you book through Air2Sea.  In my case when I used for another cruise here is what they offered:

"You have purchased REFUNDABLE WITH FEE airline tickets through our Air2Sea program, please note that airline cancellation penalties may apply."

Air2Sea isn't an insurance policy.  If you didn't buy travel insurance Ai2Sea may or may not be able to assist you in avoiding airline fees.  It all depends.

There are terms and conditions that cover travel interruption on day of travel, but nothing about the cruise line cancelling the cruise.

totally bummed out about this.  had a "girls trip" with friends coming from several different places.  Couldn't rebook on anything that week- everything was sold out.  i guess that i what happens when 3000 people try to rebook at the same time.

So, we will take our refunds and our cruise credit for later use.  Rebooked our flights to Puerto Vallarta and booked an all-inclusive there for less than what we paid to RC.

Was super excited about the changes thy were making to NAV.  Maybe next time.  it was going to be my first cruise as a diamond, too:(

I was also on the cancelled cruise.  I knew the risks and was suspicious recently when I didn't see the cruise on their website.  I have since kept my original flight and booked a hotel in Fort Lauderdale.  At least I have 6 days on Mariner before the Fort Lauderdale Beach leg of this vacation.  It could be much worse.  I am currently staring out my window at thick snow coming down horizontally.  No complaints when I am in the sunshine.
