Why assume that the drink package had anything to do with this. If you 've ever sailed on a ship without a drink package you will notice that there are just as many drunks as there are on a ship with a drink package.  Better to say that alcohol may have been a factor than trying to blame it on a package.

It is totally false to say that only people who have a drink package will drink too much.

 

We don't know if this guy had even been drinking or if he had the drink package.

It has been an observation of ours on a Breakaway cruise,that some passengers may have regarded the drink package limit as a goal rather than an offer. Their behavior indicated over-the-top drinking and/or their inability to hold their liquor.

On that cruise, the drink package was limited to alcoholic drinks.It was not a package offering  a combination of water,soda ,coffees and alcohol drinks.

The man’s reported behavior was rude and uncalled for.

Wether his behavior was fueled by too much alcohol, lack  of manners.or a sense of entitlement, it was not something that NCL should condone.

Good that NCL took action.

Who’s to say this guy wouldn’t act the same way drink package or not anyways. He’s sober in the interview and still feels like he did nothing wrong.

Yeah, in general the rudest people I’ve met on cruise ships are sober. Typically people who are “platinum” or “platinum plus” and don’t realize that half the ship is too

I wasn't there so don't know what happened. However, if he was verbal (not physical in any way), I think it reflects poorly on NCL. You suck it up for a few days, and kick his *** to the curb when the ship returns to the homeport rather than dumping him in a foreign country. You don't justify his bad behavior by engaging in equally bad behavior.

It is tough to say.  You'd probably want them to be a bit lenient because of the fact that they paid a good amount of money to take a vacation on their cruise line.  But you'd also want them to take a proactive approach to this type of behavior to stop it from escalating and to make some examples to show that there is no tolerance for it.

 This guy has a superior attitude which makes cruising unpleasant for many other passengers.  Justice was done when he was escorted from the ship.  I’ll bet people were clapping as he slithered off.

I've just been directed to this thread.  Here is how the story was told as it appeared on Facebook.  I have to assume that it is the same couple.

Same story. The guy “said something”. A.k.a. He got abusive, probably threatening the crew, to the point that security was called to resolve the issue. The crew hears complaints every day of the week and are trained tohandle upset customers. This guy obviously became very disruptive to the crew and fellow passengers as he blocked the doors to the venue. So security was called. Video was reviewed. He as escorted off the ship. Good Job NCL!!

 

BTW: while no one can account for exactly what happened to this “great guy” on the ship, his news interview clearly showed what kind of person he is.

I think there is still more to the story that the offending man isn't saying and I think it escalated far before he said he "politely" asked for a manager.

The only article that did not use their real names was highly biased towards their story and used many stock photos that were not related to the story. The one part of that story that makes sense is that he was holding up the line and refusing to move out of the way to get things sorted out. I would also suggest that if there was any mix up in the reservations it was his fault - besides there were probably other showings of Burn the Floor.

 

It was not mentioned, but he said his family was in the theatre, yet his wife was with him - who was the rest of the family? They were also in a Honeymoon Suite which means they could have also had the concierge intervene and perhaps been able to either get him in to that show or another.

 

I hope I never run into him on a cruise - wait I like NCL so I probably won't

Happy or not with NCL when you act like a fool the consequences usually aren't in ones favor. He had his 10 minutes of fame and it was costly to him.
