This is from the news today in Miami.  If this has been posted before, please delete. I did research but did not see anything.  This couple appears to be a Haven loyal NCL member who was kicked off the ship for a confrontation with NCL employees.  They called the local Miami news to tell their story.

Quote

Robert said it all happened because of an interaction he had with a crew member who denied him access to a show on the ship his family had reserved in advance. He told NBC 6 Responds the exchange got heated.

"I said 'Listen you idiot, I'm telling you right now that my family is in the show. Why are you keeping me out of the show?' Robert said.

The crew member, he said, told Robert he did not have a reservation and called for backup.

"They started calling security and I may have made a comment that said you better get more than a couple because I'm a big guy," Robert said of the interaction.

So: basic entitlement issue coupled with verbal abuse of staff and physical threats.

I think the guy is perhaps down-playing the way he behaved.  He cleaned it up a bit in the interview but something tells me he was quite belligerent.  Though inconvenient, he maybe should have gone back to the Haven concierge and asked for an escort back to the show.  A simple misunderstanding that led to something much bigger than it had to be.

"I said 'Listen you idiot, "

That's all I needed to read to have an opinion....................

It kinda makes me think of the frequently expressed mentality...."Well, it's my cruise!!!!!!!!!"

If you are acting this way in Starbucks on land it's one thing. They can ask you to leave and then

have the police as a back up. In the middle of the ocean? No way!! The Captain did the right thing.

He showed himself to be either unwilling or unable to control his behavior and the Captain had no way of knowing

if it would escalate.

"Listen, you idiot", and "I'm a big guy you're going to need more security than that"?  They did the right thing to that fool.

And that's just what he's admitting to! There's likely plenty else he said that was even more unflattering to him.

I also say kudos to the captain. I wish  more people were kicked off.  They have no shame to go on TV about their behavior.  But isn't this typical of society today?  Rules are only for THOSE people.  Not me.

Don't you know who I think I am?  I am from NYC with lots of money living in Miami. I take cruises all the time. No one can tell me to follow any rules.

I am going to add to what I said in my comment above. If I had shown up and my family was

in the show and I was denied access I would have called the Concierge. And if it took half the show to straighten

out that's better than what he did. Worst case you wait for your family and chalk it up to things happen.

Clearly you are not as important or special as he  🙂

Its literally just a show.  Its not worth the argument, its not worth the blowup and its not worth possibly getting kicked off the ship.

The fact they had to call security leads me to believe he was a little more.... agitated... than he is letting on.  You call security when you feel threatened.  Then this guy escalates the situation by saying "you better call more backup than that, because I'm a big guy"?  At that point, you're just asking to get tossed.

Its just a show, and its probably due to a misunderstanding.  Hell, I dealt with my fair share my last time on RCCL (somehow RCCL never told Universal Studios we booked a stay in their hotels nor set up any transportation to/from Orlando/Canaveral long after we booked and paid for it through RCCL) and it was a mess, but it all got sorted out and we were fine.   Its amazing sometimes how people will go out of their way to help you out when they messed up and inconvenienced you by just being nice to them and understanding that stuff happens.

But remember the guy is a frequent NCL cruiser. Isn't that good for something he seems to think so!!!!????  I AM glad he got what was coming to him and of course, as others have said, there is more to the story than Mr Cruiser is telling us. 😱:classic_blink:

"Listen you idiot" bad idea to start name-calling when you're looking a favour and

"They started calling security and I may have made a comment that said you better get more than a couple because I'm a big guy," Robert said of the interaction., would be seen as a threat... good enough to get anyone thrown off a ship.
