B2B second muster required?

We are doing a B2B cruise in September, a 7 night followed by a 14 night, will we have to attend the muster for the second cruise?

We have done a B2B before but it was on P&O and was a 3 nighter followed by a 11 night. We did not have to attend for the second leg on that occasion. It was something to do with the length of the cruises, but I can't remember the details. Can anyone shed any light? 🙂

Yes you do . I man was removed from the ship ( Celebrity) on a cruise we took for not showing up , ignoring pages and finally refusing to attend stated that he did at the beginning of his first leg

No matter how many time you cruise even with the same cruise line you are required to attend the Muster drill.

Yep, on a B2B you are absolutely required to attend the 2nd muster drill.  They will come looking for you.

We were on a two week Princess cruise from Athens to Barcelona. After 7 nights we stopped in Civitavecchia where passengers disembarked and embarked. We were not required to attend the muster drill as our sea pass was for the whole 14 nights. All the bars obviously shut down and we continued to lounge by the pool while the drill was in progress.

Princess does it differently than Celebrity does.

The rules on Princess are different from the rules on Celebrity! To make it clear to the OP: You MUST attend the Muster Drill on a B2B even if you are in the same cabin with the same Muster Station. That is the rule on Celebrity and you should not be distracted by posts that concern any other line!

To clarify, Princess sells its cruises it differently than Celebrity does.  They will sell the same two week cruise as two seven day cruises or as one 14  day cruise.  It’s a little confusing to celebrity cruisers to move over to Princess.  Princess require you to attend once when you board, and Encourage further attendance when the next passengers board but do not require the second attendance.  Celebrity does.

There is Super Mario who cruises with Royal Caribbean for more than 20 years.

In his videos he said that he must attend it every cruise.

Thank you all for your responses and for clarifying the Celebrity situation. As I said, we did not have to on P&O (although there was a time limit, the length of which I cannot recall) which is owned by the same company as Princess so makes sense that Esprit had the same experience as us.

I will brace myself for a double dose of "James Bond" muster! 😩

Clearly you have heard that you are required to do the drill. I would point out that you do have the opportunity to improve your experience. When we have done back to back, we pay close attention to the area of our Muster station that goes out of deck last (if you have to do that) so that you are the closest to the rail and not pressed against the back wall, stand outside the least amount of time and get released first. If you do not go outside, again you can determine which area of the station is closest to the exit and gets out ahead of the crowd.  I would note that sometimes these coveted seats are obtained by coming early or sometimes by coming late. Armed with this information we time our arrival to the second (or third) Muster drill to get these prime locations. Something many of you have never experienced, is that on cruises longer than 14 days (something we usually do on Regent) you actually have to have a refresher drill during the cruise. This usually happens in late morning of a sea day. So just remember, the cruise line has to do it, the drill is as much a benefit to the crew (we absolutely want them to know their jobs) and the less resistance they get from the passengers, the faster we all get back to vacation.

Celebrity Muster Drills do not involve going outside and lining up. They are held indoors at the Theater, Casino, MDR, Photo Gallery (the worst spot), Micheal's Club and speciality restaurants. All stations are on Decks 4 and 5. No life jackets are required.

Regardless of X not holding the musters outside, the advice is nonetheless excellent. We always arrive early and have to wait for ages while the stragglers are rounded up, I shall be paying eagle-eyed attention during the first one for the best location to be "released" first! Thank you. 🙂

They tend to release from the front. You will be directed to a seat when you enter your Muster Station. A few people balk, but the vast majority follow directions. As said one purpose of a Muster drill is to train crew who are part of the drill. They're evaluated on their performance.

B2Bs are treated as different cruises, and you must go to both safety drills.

About the only change I've experienced in muster drills over the years is that some lines stopped requiring pax to wear life jackets during the drill.  Oh, and one's presence can be verified by scanning cabin cards.  Otherwise, today it's pretty much the same safety message fleet wise and across cruise lines that I heard 15 years ago.

Definitely yes.   All passenger must attend muster drill on each and every cruise.  Think of it like an airplane even though you fly frequently or on a connecting flight you have to sit through Safety briefing.

We were on Constellation last month for a B2B. Required to attend both drills. No "James Bond" video. Much quicker than the video which we hate. Hope they have permanently retired the video.

Ethe dropping of the JamesBond video is correct. Did an Edge B2B in March and it was a standard muster drill video.
