Did RCI ever announce something to replace Dreamworks?

They replaced the parades with their own characters.  The Dream works ice show and aqua show were not replaced

They announced that the money they were spending on the licensing with DreamWorks would be allocated to AMP refurbishments. So there won't be anything new in the short term.

They also replaced the Dreamworks-themed TV channel(s) with channels themed to toddlers, middle kids and teens, with programming from random networks for each.

 

The experience for families has definitely suffered since the Dreamworks theming was removed.  Without the characters, the experience is extremely generic and boring, especially for younger kids like my 6yo daughter.  Not that we didn't have a great time on our last cruise, but we did miss the character meet and greets, the parades and DW channel. Kinda surprised they haven't teamed up with Nickelodeon to get their characters on board (ie, Spongebob, Dora, Ninja Turtles etc.) as a replacement...seems like both companies would benefit if they did.

NCL used to have Nickelodeon and that was dropped a long time ago without any real replacement. If DCL was competitively priced,  other cruise lines might care. Carnival has Cat in the Hat on the Horizon, but does that really count?

I will miss the photo opportunities with the characters.  So, if we see a group of Penguins on our next cruise, we should just assume they are guests?
