Dubai cruises cancelled

We were booked on Oceana for January, Dubai and India and have also received the cancellation  email.   They have said cruises on Oceana shall be available to book from the 20 August sailing from Southampton to Canary Islands and 35 night to the Caribbean.  If people still want to go to Dubai you can book with sister brands Aida and Costa 20% off with Costa but we won't be doing that.

Shall start looking for an alternative.

I've just logged on to my cruise personaliser and found our cruise cancelled which was on November 11th  and a full refund to be given ( don't know how long that will take) we were really looking forward to it but better safe than sorry , I just now have to cancel all my private excursions I booked up prior to staying in Dubai for two days before the cruise  ,  I'll just have to find another cruise for that week

Oh no ! What a shame and disappointment for everyone who has booked her.

Better safe than sorry I suppose.

Any idea where they are going to send her ?

Oceana will be based in Southampton 2019/2020 instead of Dubai and new cruises will be available to book in August.

Info given by large cruise company-

Oceana’s new programme will include sailings from Southampton to Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands, as well as a pre-Christmas 35-night cruise to the Caribbean. This will be available to book from 20 August 2019 at 9am.

That's good. Had to smile, recently I watched a YouTube clip of Oceana 'leaving Southampton for the last time'. It was quite sad and her horn 'toot' really did sound sad.  It will be nice to have her back. Must be a logistical nightmare for the cruise line though at relatively short notice.

The refund table shows that booking via a travel agent you have to contact TA.

If booked direct with P&O using Visa/Mastercard refund in  3working days

very disappointing but suspected it would come.  I hate 'giving in' to foreign aggressors and terrorists, it really goes against the grain.  Doubt we'll book one of Oceana's new cruises.  Iberia (again!) in January is not exactly a like for like alternative!

Unfortunately we have cruises booked in this period. So can’t fit one in  we like the Canaries in winter.

We generally do not cruise in Winter period and even then not being a great lover of Oceana would not be interested in booking anything.

Are those affected being given first chance to book the new itineraries?  Or is that too much to ask of P&O...

Unfortunately, Oceana is not the best of ships for inclement weather.  She has great open decks for good weather though.

I am gutted, but this is totally expected.  No compensation to be given.  As a goodwill gesture, perhaps P&O would give a bigger cabin spend or nice discount on Oceana's alternative sailings.  If so I might be tempted to do the Canary Islands.

Thank you July morning I booked via a well known cruise specialist so I phoned them up , they were only just starting to get phone calls about it so they are getting all the details together and phoning me back but as yet we have not had a email from P & O which I thought we would because our cruise is in November  . We are now trying to look for another cruise or holiday to fit in our dates but not too upset about it all as we have a cruise to look forward to on Sept 6th to Norway but I really feel sorry for the people who have been looking forward all year for this , I half expected this would be cancelled and p & o have done the right thing

We were booked in Feb, would consider re booking for Feb 2021 but are already booked on Iona to canaries and will probably still have to pay £100 transfer charge to swop that one. Gutted!

I would think under the circumstances they might waive the transfer fee of £100 if you wanted to transfer. They do sometimes waive the admin fee
