as an alternative to what Princess offers at Princess prices, if you want something more than the 'free' lanyard that comes with the medallion

There are a lot of pendants for the Princess medallion on ebay starting at $9.95 up to $19.95

Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm new to Princess Cruises.

I'm looking at ordering the Medallions for our upcoming Seacation and being in the UK we have to pick it up from Southampton which is no problem except the iOS app adds a $15 shipping fee on. Is this normal?

Princess will send you the Medallions after your final payment. You do not order them.

Prior to the shutdown Princess was not sending medallions to homes in the UK. I think you should call Princess about the current options and procedures. I know in the U.S. you can pick up your medallion at the pier if you wanted to.

In the US pre-pandemic there was no shipping fee but the Medallion was only deliverable to the US. Our medallions have arrived at home directly from Singapore & another time from Singapore to Florida. So it’s not surprising to me that they’re adding a $15 shipping fee to the UK.

I just ordered our Medallions through the app and there is no US shipping fee.

There are new options for paid customizations but it didn’t show a free lanyard & holder like previously...only the Medallion. We didn’t use those items so won’t miss them & haven’t seen many passengers wearing them. We use an aftermarket clip holder that we purchased on Amazon & they work good for us to carry in a pocket or clipped to a shirt.

No, we've just loaded the new version on our IPad, chosen a complimentary Medallion device with no customisations, to pick up at Southampton for our Regal Princess Seacation  - and have a zero shipping fee. No home deliveries to the UK still.

I think it might be something you added, that has a price on it.

Apologies if this has been asked before but I didn’t want to plough through 37 pages but are medallions being sent out in Australia (always provided that the cruises take place)?

Pre-pandemic Medallions were only mailed to US addresses & others picked them up at the cruise terminal.

Thanks for your replies, I have tried it with just the Medallions only and pick up from Southampton and there is still a $15 shipping fee added on. As for no need to order them, it appears you have to complete this step in the app.

As I say this is my first time with Princess and really want to like it and by no means am I a technophobe but does it really have to be so hard? Also no shipping to UK addresses, really? Surely this is an oversight on their part and I would even happily pay the $15 for that convenience, but $15 to ship it to themselves is enough to put me off them. It is not the amount it is the principle.

This doesn't sound right at all - suggest you call the Ocean support line in the UK on 0344 3388 663 (which is actually the main Princess UK phone number) to get to the bottom of why you are being charged.

Yes, we would like to know what support says. We have been on medallion cruises in 2019 and pre-pandemic 2020. We just completed the immigration information in the cruise personlizer, printed a boarding pass, and just showed up at the pier. Our medallions were waiting for us at check in. Only took maybe 5 extra minutes to pick them up. Worked fine. We never filled out information on the medallion app.

I will give them a call when I get chance and get back to you.

I discovered the $15 shipping charge was only added once I added accessories.

After speaking to Princess I was told that as I was picking it up from the port I should not be charged.

Apparently the supervisor went through the steps and did not receive a shipping charge so they asked me to send screen shoe which I'm doing.

I will feedback on further progress.

Oh before you say just buy the accessories onboard, I wanted them at port side as a surprise for my wife, she loves little things like that.

The Sky cruise (Awesome ship) we had, they were delivered to my door and I was not charged for shipping. They were sent from another country. Sorry, I do not remember which country. When the box arrived, I remember looking at the shipping address and wondered. What the heck is this? Packed really good.

For whatever dumb reason Princess Cruises will not ship to the UK. Given the current conditions you would have thought it would be ideal as it should reduce queues and contact etc.

Ahh that accounts for the difference in our charges but yes, we ordered an accessory on the old app for pickup at Piraeus in October 2019 and had no shipping charges so this should not be occuring.

I added our chargecard to our Cruise Personalizer but the updated MC app requires adding it again for their “MedallionPay”.

When following their procedure to add a payment method by default the boxes “Precruise, Medallion Accessories & Onboard Payment” and also “Shoreside Merchants” are checked. I don’t want my Medallion used shoreside so I unchecked that option.

I'm wondering if Radiqal Gaming LLC is merely the company that is involved with the onboard slots and such and is therefore being authorized to use your medallion in the casino. I really can't see actual shore merchants setting up this technology - especially since your medallion only carries a unique token that identifies it to a computing system onboard the ship itself.  I understand they were either implementing or at least talking about implementing medallion recognition in the Port Everglades terminal but that is a different ball of wax.

Given the "brilliance" of some of the programming that has gone on I can see some clown using totally misleading terminology such as "shoreside merchants" which, while possibly totally accurate, could be equally misleading.

EDIT: Wowie Zowie!  Looks like I was mistaken.

I just checked the app and it says "Use your OceanMedallion to pay for purchases at select stores and restaurants in St. Thomas and more destinations. My bad.

Have the app display something, and having it actually work for customers...

Two wildly different things, which princess has repeatedly proved.

On the other hand, often the 'recommended' stores have to give a kick back to the

marketing company handling shopping, or the cruiseline ... based on the purchases

of the customer the cruise line delivers.

This would automate the monitoring of this for the cruise line.

I received a keyring I ordered for my (hopefully) soon to be delivered Air Tag.  Took an old Medallion and it fits perfectly.  This will be for my dog 😉

I am confused. You actually carry your keys around while on a cruise? We put it all in the safe.

That looks cool. Where did you order that from?

For anyone that’s been on a Medallion Cruise how soon to your actual cruise can you pick your arrival time?

Tom😀

I’ve been on three MedallionClass cruises and have never had the option to select an arrival time. That’s a new option in the updated app but currently none of my 3 future cruises allow me to select a time. My earliest cruise is scheduled for October so that option apparently isn’t available yet.

Under “My Preferences” there’s a “Disembarkation Page” option where there are four options: Express Walkoff, Early, Mid, Late.
