How do you spend your sea days?

This will sound hilarious but to be honest this is all we need. I mean the men at least. All we need is some buzz, nice food and a comfortable place to have a nap after. OMG I remember my last trip to Italy. Lying on the couch with Aperol Spritz and eating some delicious spaghetti.. ohh boy

Especially with all this Corona Crap; it's really going to take an effort to try and relax; but we will, right? :classic_cool:

Thought it might be fun to start a post asking folks what your ideal sea day looks like? What’s your favourite way to spend your day? What activities do you like the most?

We look forward to sea / cruising days a lot.  During a typical day we might...

  • Breakfast on our veranda or Blu (if we are Aqua)
  • Go to the gym for a workout
  • Have lunch at Sushi On 5, OVC or Spa Cafe
  • Attend a Beyond The Podium presentation
  • Attend an presentation on an upcoming port
  • Participate in an activity, I like Archery and we both like Trivia
  • Wife enjoys at least one spa treatment per cruise
  • Listen to live musicians play
  • Relax and drink coffee at Cafe el Bacio
  • Nap in our room or the veranda
  • Read book on the veranda
  • Send vacation updates to fiends / family via email or social media
  • Dinner in MDR, OVC or Blu (if we are Aqua)

I've just done my first cruise in December, and had three sea days.  I could have dropped all the port days for sea days and been in complete bliss.

To me, sitting on my balcony listening to the water splash up against the bow, and watching the horizon go by...I could literally feel the stress melting away.  I inevitably fall asleep.

One of the best parts of my cruise was waking up in the middle of the night for whatever reason and going out on the veranda.  The moon on the water, the glisten of the waves, the sounds...just magical.

I had booked my second cruise, and transpac from Tokyo to Vancouver BC, but it was canceled.  Now rescheduling for a transatlantic out of Miami.  9 days at sea.  I can't wait.  In fact, my cruise planner just emailed me that my stateroom is being reserved!

whoo hoo!

It depends somewhat upon the activities offered that day.  Could be trivia, a paper airplane contest, a lecture, a future cruise preview presentation, a guest choir rehearsal (that was on our 14-day cruise, not sure it's offered on shorter cruises), dance lessons, a flash mob rehearsal, a martini/whiskey/wine tasting, a mixology class, enjoying some music in the grand foyer or out on the pool deck, or a worship service if it's a Sunday.  Beyond the scheduled activities, there's checking out the dinner menu for the evening, eating far too much, enjoying some drinks (especially trying some new cocktails, wines or spirits I haven't tried before), people watching, reading, looking into future cruises, planning future non-cruise vacations with hubby (yes, those happen too), hanging out and conversing with old and new friends, getting in a bit of romance with hubby, or just sitting out on our balcony or one of the decks (usually in the shade) and allowing ourselves to be mesmerized by the water.

We don't generally go to any of the sales demos for jewelry, watches and such, and haven't been to an art "auction" in years, though we tend to occasionally stroll through and look at the art.  Most of our shopping is window shopping.  On non-Celebrity cruises we spend a bit of time in the casino, but that's one area we find lacking on Celebrity.  We're not heavy gamblers and the games hubby likes to play tend to have too high a minimum for very casual play or are not even open during the day, and I've found the slots and video poker to be terribly tight on the Celebrity ships.  We're not sun worshippers (too many skin cancer spots removed already and we live in Florida and don't feel the need to "prove" we've been on vacation... we're probably among the palest people on the ship).

And you sir/ma'am are way ahead of the curve.  Most cruisers don't really appreciate the sea days until they have a few cruises under their belt.  😊

Sounds like a TransAtlantic?

You'll be going from bliss to nirvana. 😎

It is - Miami to Barcelona with stops in the Azores, Morocco and Spain.  🙂

My first cruise was just 7 days, and it was WAY too short.  It took me 3-4 days just to get my sea legs.  This is a 14 day voyage, and I can't wait to spend time exploring the ship, and getting to know people.

Nice! A word of warning about the TA's, they are addicting!
7 days are indeed way to short! Long ago we decided not to take any cruise less than 10 days. Back to back cruises, are also sweet.

Sighhhhhh...love sea days. Reading, relaxing, maybe working out (maybe not), sometimes (usually) a cocktail in hand by 9am. It's vacation after all. Sitting on the balcony, falling asleep and getting a crick in my neck, ha! Nothing a cocktail won't fix 😂😉

My DW and I head up to Cafe Biaco for early morning coffee? And a sweet treat.Early morning? Depending  on what time Silent Disco or Full Moon Party got over with the night before. Then to MDR or buffet for breakfast. Back to room to change into swim shorts and grab a towel to head to pool to hope to find a lounger. My DW will either go to pool with me or go read a book in a nice quite place. I’m not much of a reader. I usually sit by pool with a bloody or mixed drink after noon by this time enjoying the sun and the people. My DW will find me later and we go to lunch.

This seems boring but is actually a fun day. Fellow cruisers are so much fun to talk to.

We've made some lifelong friends on cruises. It makes for a great sea day.

Chilling out in the sun and enjoying my BP while looking out at the sea.

Facepalm! For a split second, I was thinking you meant Blood Pressure, as in you enjoy your chilled-out, mellow Blood Pressure that comes with relaxing at sea.

In far less time than it took to type this, I realized what you actually meant.

I'm just disappointed it took me 44 years to find cruising.  I'm looking forward to a full 2 weeks at sea, getting to know people, etc...I don't think there are many booked on my cruise due to the virus and that fact it is a transatlantic.  Entire swaths of cabins are empty.  58 days to go!

Inquiring minds want to know what BP means in this context.

We did a 14 day cruise to Hawaii with 4 sea days in each direction and we did a trans Atlantic back in the days when Celebrity hired a bridge instructor/director for lessons in the morning and duplicate in the afternoon. That was great.

Nowadays, we prefer to spend the 14 days or so in Europe.

My absolute fav cruise was in 2015 on X Solstice for 10 day Vancouver to HI. 5 days at sea. Met some some wonderful people who we are still friends with. Sea days were gym, coffee with Jameson, nap , breakfast, Bloody Mary, book time in the solarium, lunch, more book time, chat time on the balcony with our neighbors, cocktails at 5pm in Martini bar, then dinner. And whatever the evening brought

This will be our first time with a balcony room and I so have to go out to look at the moon one night when I wake up. Love this idea!!

Sea days (or rather nights) are excellent for stargazing since you will often be very far away from city lights.  If you have an iPhone consider downloading the free GoSkyWatch application.  It will tell you what planets / stars you are seeing in the night sky.  The free GoSatWatch application will tell you if any satellites or the International Space Station will be flying overhead.  I had an opportunity to see the ISS fly directly over the Equinox during a Caribbean cruise a couple years ago.

Someone who shares my ideas on cruising.   Im not worried with what is going on, I need the longer cruises, 10 plus days, 11 is my ideal number, having a balcony and zoning out.  Now try an aft balcony and then you will even be in more bliss.  Great views and so quiet.
