Thurs. Vienna.

Good Evening all. We have had a very enjoyable day exploring more of Vienna (  central area today) we have found it so very easy to use the transport  system ie: utube, trams bus. We bought a 72hr pass, the system here is mainly used o  trust, you have ticket  then just get  / off not needing to show tickets,  it really is good way to get around. Also must mention everybody waits for the green signal to cross busy rds, And shock horror CYCLISTS actually o bey the crossing/ lights too.

So for our anniversary meal we managed to get a reservation al ittle family run traditional Austrian restaurant just a 2 min walk from hotel, a good job too, because ev ery table had a resvered card on table.

We decided on this trip we would where possible only order Austrian dishes and we have that very easy & most enjoyable.  So below are the food pictures @ if you read it the menu.  We shared the starter,  then mains are the pork dish, and for me wien er snitzle, followed by strawberries & ice cream,  and the pancakes.

We have a half day tomorrow  before we fly back to hrw evening flt,

I will post some longer thoughts on ce back home over on TripAdvisor,  should anyone be interested.

PS, thanks to graham & others for your wedding anniversary  cheer s.

No shuttle buses in June, some of the older people having a moan that it was to far to walk. Couple of cafes to have a rest at before you reach the square. Hope you had a good cruise and a germ 🦠 free one.

My father wouldn’t have coped without the shuttle there a few years ago, and he most definitely wasn’t a moaner.

Friday 13th!  However, I woke up cheerful, as my hosp. visit yesterday went pretty well.  A new to me way of doing things - echo. scan not done by either a radiographer or by the actual specialist doctor, but by a vey nice woman who is a physiologist, then qualified in radiography and particularly these scans, so she does the scan and also writes the report.  Which will arrive at the GPs within a week.  She was therefore quite prepared to tell me that what she saw showed no need for anxiety, but not unexpected at my age.  (Thought this might be of interest to anyone else due for an echocardiogram, as you don't then wait 4 or more weeks for your GP to get results).

Hope the day belies the date, and everyone has a good day.

I am just watching the news and hadn't realised that we are in a good position to get views of the Northern Lights until they showed some pictures from last night.  We have been up to "Northern Lights" cruises twice and not seen them but last night when I was drawing tje curtains I mentioned to DH how colourful the sunset was. I now wish that I had videoed it because my photo doesn't  do the changing colours justice.

c'est la vie.

Thank you I noticed you had liked my post on Dani's RCL thread.

Epicurean was £35pp £70 on board.

I pre-booked for £50 with online discount and our 10% loyalty discount.

Herlyn our waitress and her assistants Emanuel and Angelo were amazing in Epicurean.

I gave Herlyn the flowers from our cabin.

I knew my friends on here would recognise where I was if I posted a few on here.

Last night after unpacking we got a snack and went to the beach.

It is 6°C and clear skies here.

I hope you have a lovely day and a fantastic cruise on Ventura.

There was a hop on hop off bus and several touts trying to get you to book a tour with them.

The reception manager said there was a taxi stand near the exit but we didn't see any.

Morning to you all,

A bright sunny day with not a hint of a breeze and a chilly start at 8c but expected to be 15c, so might be quite pleasant later.

Can't be supersitious about numbers as we live at number 13, but for those of you 🤞

Have a good day.

Glad you had a good time away but a pity that they do away with the shuttle busses when

the mood takes them . Some select fare folk are paying a fair whack by choosing meal

time /cabin and places like Lisbon a bus.

From what I'm reading here sometimes they run, others times not. For folk like you with

your hip problem,me with my HF , I would not be happy and possibly stay onboard but

not a moaner , I just go with what life has dealt me as a lot of others do.

Take care ,good to have you back .🙂

I completely agree with all you say.

Shuttle buses were provided when we were in Lisbon twice last year.  With Lisbon especially, I always feel you have done a fair walk just to get out of the port!  I don't have great mobility (no aids though) so you do tend to notice these things.  We would take the shuttle in, have a walk around, coffee and cake and saunter back to the ship.  Happily there are plenty of seats on the way.

We will be there again in December on Ventura and this time I am taking a ship's tour and DH will meet up with me in Cascais, having taken a train there, which he always enjoys.

I do think it's poor that you are not given advance information by P&O (I should love to be told I am wrong) for which ports shuttles are provided.  I realise why of course, but as kalos points out, it is a benefit you are paying for.

The few I get go into spam anyway, so it is easy to just delete a bunch of them. A few more clever ones come up under being sent by some name you might recognise , and are tempted to click on to them.  I don't, so maybe miss out on ones by friends of friends etc. - too bad.

We are going on ships excursions in Madeira and Lisbon. We don't normally, but they were quite good value...30% seniors discount. We got 10% seniors discount on the cruise as well. We have Britannia booked for June, but feel a September RC coming on. Off to town today. As normal Bank, shops, coffee, Lunch. As its Friday, spoons may have the white table cloths out.😂

Talking of shuttle buses. We normally pay the higher price so that we can choose our cabin, but when we have got a shuttle bus they don’t seem to charge anyone. I know it depends upon if it is a port of call provided shuttle or cruise line provided but I can’t remember the last time that I saw peoples cruise cards being scanned.
