My Niece and family lost their house last evening.  My niece, husband and two boys are safe but they lost their dog.

@Ozark_Kid.

I'm so sorry to hear your news of this horrendous fire.

I'm pleased your niece and her family are safe but devastating news about their dog.

Graham.

We have a 3 day long weekend, with Anzac Day being commemorated on the 25th April each year, in honour of those Australians who served. Attending a dawn service either in the city or locally on the day is something my DH and his brother have done frequently.

Coincidentally, we had an early dinner tonight at our local RSL (Returned Services League) Club.  At 6pm, every night, patrons are asked to stand, face west and observe silence and listen to the Ode of Remembrance which finishes with Lest we Forget.
My dad has always taken any overseas visitors to an early dinner at the RSL during their stay, so they can experience this.

Very nice to invite in-laws over.   Food looks delicious, especially the beet salad and your cheesecake.

And the potatoes too!   What seasoning is on potatoes?

1) olive oil (a staple in the Med diet, we're buying it in jerry cans..), paprika - smoked and hot/cayenne and coarse/kosher salt.

2) when the guests arrived, re-heat with a dollop of butter in the middle.

@dani negreanuno wonder there were no leftovers.  All looks delish.  I like the artwork on your walls too.

Hubby's artwork, beside one cherished drawing by oldest grandkid 😉

Hubby is clearly a talented man.  A great cook and an artist.

It might be really hard to want to go on a cruise after this.  Our hotel is on the river and there are geese, ducks and a heron.

And they aren’t the rubber ones you find of the ships.😂

Looks like a great time.

Totally loved our Edge cruise last year and looking forward to our beyond cruise in November, really enjoyed the entertainment etc, extra nice if in suite with there retreat pool and outdoor restaurant and bar.

We will likely cruise in the Retreat, so I'm trying to understand the different suite options.  Looks like the Sky suite is the entry level and would be roughly on par with a Royal JS for size...just with full suite amenities.  The Celebrity Suite would be more like a Royal GS and the Royal Suite would be more like an Royal OS.  It's hard to tell from their website so I'd love to hear from anyone who has experienced any of these Edge class suites and can compare.

The people I am rooting for ,Jonathan and Mike are still there, that is good.

I'd like to get the full Survivor experience, just to see how Survivor life really is as compared to what we get to see for an hour each week.  I love Jonathan and it would be great to see him win.  He seems to be able to do everything, is an absolute beast when it comes to challenges, has some humility, and is a genuinely nice guy...a combo not often seen.  Every week, he does something that makes you say "wow"...like taking over shooting of the balls and making 5 straight for the win.  If I was playing, he'd be my absolute first target after the merge because he is such a threat.  There was a little bit of talk about voting him out last week but there didn't seemed to be any talk of him this week.

Every season, so many contestants seem to let their own emotions and ego get in the way.  "So and so back stabbed me 2 weeks ago and he has to go".  Back stabbing is part of the game.  Why take it so personally?  Why not use it strategically?  Boston Rob seemed to be the master at that.  Maybe that's easier said than done when living in those conditions.  Or maybe a lot more of that is happening and the show's producers are only showing me what they think will make for good TV.  The show has been on for so long now that they obviously know what people want to see and are very good at delivering it.

You are correct on the size of the celebrity suites compared to rccl. On our Edge cruise we had booked a sky suite but did a move up to penthouse which was amazing. Only thing I don’t like on edge class is size of balconies, royal suite on M class has a balcony about 200 sq ft with a small hot tub , on edge it’s haft that. Suite dinning room food is way better in Luminae than CK , celebrity lounge is open all day for drinks not just for a happy hour. My only personal experience on edge is the penthouse, have a corner aft sky suite on beyond coming in November.

Have a great cruise.  Can’t wait to see some of those photos with the new phone.

For the 2nd Passover "seder" we took the opportunity that our in-laws are "free" from their other 2 kids (one took his family abroad, the other one celebrating with her husband's family), and invited them over.

Using the extension for the diner table --

I'll save you the pics of chopped liver and "gefilte fish".... DH was full of inspiration for this meal --

Potatoes in a new "style" --

Cauliflower (baked with a sprinkle of olive oil, salt & pepper) --

Beetroot salad with green apples, tuna mousse --

And my modest contribution -- chocolate marbled cheese cake

In my naïveté, I was optimistic, thinking we'll have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow and Saturday... Ha !!

What can I say, the meal was really tasty  😁

I would eat the whole cauliflower and be happy. I love roasted cauliflower.
And everyone knows I love chopped chicken livers…better than chocolate!

I’ll pass on the chicken livers but love cauliflower.  Unfortunately, none of my family like it.

I love this photo taken last month at Windsor Castle and released by the Royal Windsor Horse Show for her birthday

I saw this great photo in three different places on the internet yesterday. All US sites.
There is great interest here in the Royal Family and Her Majesty the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth’s love for her horses and her dogs must have meant so much to her all of her life.

I was watching a doco on The Royal Train and it had footage of the Queen in her carriage with several of her Corgis.  Very sweet.  And who can forget The Queen and Daniel Craig as James Bond with the corgis for the London Olympics.
