Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

Have you ever won anything on your state lottery.

Years ago I used to play my lucky 4 digit number and won a few times and when I got tired of it quit when I was ahead. It was a PIA going every week in week out to play.

But today. I had to run to a store that still carries the yeast I use for baking. I paid cash. I gave a $10 bill and had a little over $6 in change.

At customer service I saw they had this instant ticket that I said to myself that is the name of an old casino in Vegas I used to go to. So I bought a $5 ticket and came home.  Well it was a good choice.
I am ahead by $495.
And I’m done again.

Sorry to hear your ordeal with the rain but pleased you are safe.

Thank you, Graham. It is mostly a mess and a lot of work (and more to come tomorrow) .... and perhaps we need new carpeting and to install a sump pump after many years of doing without one.

Meanwhile, our son attempted to take his mother-in-law from New Jersey to JFK airport and never made it after 4 hours in the car ... too much flooding and other issues.   She was returning to her country after 8 weeks here helping our son and daughter-in-law with their new baby. Luckily, the airline agreed given the situation to allow her to reschedule to the same flight tomorrow without additional charge. But it was a harrowing and exhausting day for them.

@Lionesss Question?

After you freeze the corn, how do you heat it back up?

Today bought bread/ butter sweet corn from farm. 50 ears.
Quick boil 5 min

Ice bath

Double wrap Saran and freezer bag.
Place  in freezer

Enjoy all winter

What do you with it after you take it out of the freezer?  We purchased some today that we might have to boil/freeze/store for a bit. Bill asked the question, and I said..."I don't know?" :classic_tongue: Thanks! :classic_biggrin:

I use an asparagus pot.
Fill it up 2/3 water.
Bring to boil.
Place corn in boiling water.
Boil 10-12 min

Lift tray out.

Enjoy.

WOW! That flooding in the northeast is absolutely incredible. (I just tuned in) It almost looks worse than Louisiana where my in-laws live. And they are in Houma, LA where Ida made landfall. I am glad everyone on here is safe, and not too horribly wet, and able to replace possessions or repair damage.

WOW. That is horrible flooding. You must have had torrential rain...and now it is all sunny.

Yes, but we do live near a river and a reservoir, so these things have happened a few times over the many years we have lived here.  It was a lot of rain in a very short period of time.

Jim has the same flamingo float, given to him by his sister..we have flamingo's around our Koi pond, also.  My daughter even found Christmas wrapping paper with flamingo's on it..it's become a joke around here...every time someone sees something with a flamingo, they get it for him. LOL!

I don't even remember when this all started.😁

I love flamingos. I have a metal flamingo by our pond that’s about 5’ tall. Also have some smaller ones around. You can’t have a tropical area without flamingos. 🦩 The birds and raccoons got the last of our koi. I need to give it a good cleaning and toss some cheap goldfish in.

That's what I have also been doing... my "investment" being "heavier" since I'm also looking for the right word, using synonyms, translations, etc. 😉

I didn’t realize you did this very much. What you do come up with is perfect.

We used to go every year and always stayed at the Tiki Resort. Cool place. Haven’t been in about 8 or so years.

What town do you live in?  We are in waldwick    Thankfully, our street and house are ok. Lower Bergen county, not so much. Had to turn around three times and then luckily get on the parkway home to avoid getting stuck due to flooding.

we are hoping to get out on time tomorrow from EWR to FLL - hopefully boarding the Edge on  Saturday.

This is what I have been working on lately- it’s my second quilt. This is crib sized, and it’s going to my first grandchild! I probably was a bit optimistic, since I didn’t use a pattern and it’s handpieced. Still, it’s done, and my grandson it unlikely to care that it’s not perfect!

I hope everything goes well for your son and his mother in law today.

Take care.

English is such a rich language. So many nuances. Especially when you'd want to convey the right feeling/sentiment.

You should think that if I read fluently, I'd write fluently too.... Nope. [not to mention my accent...]

I know the word, or the phrase, but it refuses to come out...

So I try another one, "nearer"", a synonym, and by way of "elimination" ... bingo or Eureka 😁

Sorry to those of you experiencing water or other damage from the storm. We were lucky here in our area of RI.  Lots of leaves & small branches down in the yard but that’s all. Never lost power and no flooding/water.  Our oldest DD & her family live in Berwyn PA, suburb west of Philly. I texted her right away this AM and all is fine with them other than a small landslide in their backyard that went into their pool. It’ll be a real mess to clean.

I’ve been reading along but haven’t been posting or reacting much due to ongoing CC issues.  Over the past month or so, I’ve emailed their help desk a couple of times about the problems. Someone here mentioned that feature a while back - maybe islandlady?  They usually reply within a day or so, always saying a fix has just been issued.  Yet the problems persist.  I emailed again today 🤷🏻‍♀️, so we’ll see.

Glad everyone is safe after last night; my thoughts and prayers are with those who were not.

Yes, that was me.  A few weeks ago, I posted that I marveled how very quickly they emailed me to help.  That was just after I found clearing my cookies helped.  She thanked me, and put that info out there for others.  Indeed she said they found the problem and issued a fix later.
