Thank you. The most annoying part of the trip is figuring out what to pack for myself. It's winter weather in NY, spring weather in Tennessee (my halfway,  overnight stop) and summer in Houston. I'll spend a few days there then make the trek back.

Have a safe and wonderful trip.  Layers!  Pack layers;  you can always take something off if you get too warm, put something on if you get chilly....

When we drove from the Dallas area to NJ in August,  our first stop was Memphis and 2nd stop was Bristol, W.Virginia.  Jack said no way could he make that trip in just 2 days and before retiring he was on the road extensively driving many hours into the night.

I know Houston's humidity can be very high.  I don't know what their weather is wintertime.  Best to pack a bit for every weather to be sure.

I do love driving & my SUV is super comfortable on long highway trips.  But yeah,  I know I'm being aggressive thinking I can do it 2 days so there might be another overnight stop. Coming back will be easier as we can split the driving.

My stepdaughter describes Houston winter weather as  "schizophrenic". 😬

I spent parts of two winters in Houston and wore shorts every day .

One time staying in Venice I was really tired and went to bed. I had the window open and hear all this noise and singing. I get dressed and go back outside from the hotel. I spent the next two hours drinking beer with a bunch of Germans.☺

I'm sure you had a lot more fun then shutting your window😃

Dang, that is a lot of miles in one day.  We use to do straight through to Florida, but now break it into a 3 day drive.  Much more relaxed that way.

After our walk this morning at the lake, we picked up the grandkids for breakfast.  Then it was off to our place to make some Christmas cookies.

I did get to sample a couple.

We didn’t have to start the Lego gingerbread house, because we are still working on the Elf house.  Besides, the kids made the “real deal” gingerbread houses.

Beautiful cookies and gingerbread houses.  They did a great job decorating😍

Clue was always one of my favorite games.  Been years since I played.

We used to leave at Midnight and drive from N.Y. to the Palm Coast in Florida, stay overnight, and get to Naples the next afternoon.  Last year, we left at 7:00 am,  stayed two nights on the road,  and took three days to get there.    We always took 3 days coming home.  We will take the 3 days to get to Florida from now on;  because,  you know, we're not getting any younger!😉

16 days to go.....😎

In the US, the top of your house can be the rooof, which sounds like pool, or the ruf, which sounds like look.

But it’s always spelled roof!

Seeing this made me go back to the Celebrity board and resurrect what I had posted back in June...

A man walks into a Talent Agency with his dog.

The Agent asks, "What have we got here?"

The man says, "A talking dog."

Agent says, OK, let's hear it.

The man looks at the dog and asks, "What is on top of a house?"

The dog says, "Roof"

The man asks, "What is sandpaper like?

The dog says "Rough"

The man asks, "Who is the greatest baseball player of all time?"

The dog says, "Ruth"

By now the talent agent has had enough and tells them both to get out.

As they get to the door, the dog turns to the agent and asks..................

"Was it Joe DiMaggio?"

10 for us.  Time for some serious packing.

And speaking of shots, our California grandson got his 2nd yesterday, and our two here get their first shots tomorrow.  It will be so nice that we will all be together in Florida.  It has been 3 years since that happened, although we have been there every year.  Our California family didn’t want to travel last Christmas during Covid, even though we had plenty of room for them.

They want us to all do Christmas in Hawaii one year.  Maybe Christmas 2023, since we already have our Florida house booked for 2022 Christmas.

You have a gas fireplace, too? Very pretty fireplace and decorations.  We haven't used ours in a long time, because it seems like we are just burning dollars to have it on in addition to the furnace.

I love our gas fireplace we don’t use it that often but it’s nice to have and great to use during the holidays. We also have gas grill outside which we use 12 months out of the year.

Good point! Maybe we will turn it on Christmas morning.

When I asked in my hotel how to get to Beauchamp (Place, Street?) I pronounced it Beecham because that’s how my London friends said it.
The concierge asked me to write it down…I did, and he said “oh, Byoo-champ.”

Regional differences are real.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauchamp_Place

Pronounced Beecham place according to Wikipedia

Gas fireplace here, too. It is really nice to have during power outages.

I just can't say y'all to one person. I actually don't even say it to more than one person.  Maybe if I were a born Texan I would.

This story bears (bares?) repeating,

I once walked into a Baskin Robbins shop in El Paso where my sister and her family lived.  The clerk bellowed "HI Y'ALL".  I turned around thinking a bunch of people came into the store.  It was empty.  I said to the clerk "do you mean me?"  He asked "are y'all from up North"?  I think YOU ALL know what my answer was. 😁

Sounds like you need a southern grammar lesson.  Y'all is singular.  If you want to address a group of people, the plural term is All Y'all. 😁

So now she speaks Italian with  British/southern American accent?

Which brings us full circle.  How do you say y'all in Italian?

I loved playing Clue as a kid.  Something about the logic of figuring it out was attractive to me.

Would love to see your 3 week itinerary of that that trip you were going to take if you have it down on paper somewhere. Just copy and paste it here, might help greatly for when  we travel there in the future.

Here you go.  Rome would have included a food tour (we love food tours).  Florence was going to include a visit the Accademia Gallery and probably something else.  Lake Como probably would have included a visit to the Villa del Balbianello.  Didn't get those booked before Covid shut everything down.
