Cracker Barrel doesn’t have those fancy omelets so you might be disappointed. If you can find a Metro Diner, they have some really neat breakfast dishes.

Cracker Barrel is not a place to eat if you’re on a restricted diet.

Yes, Metro Diner does has some good diner food.      Unfortunately, the one near me closed down this summer.    Too much competition with local diners I guess.

Thank you and same back at you. Will celebrate Christmas for the first time since the ARMY without my family as my daughter, SIL, and grandkids are in quarantine. They were all exposed at a Christmas event at my SIL parents. His Dad is sick now with CV19. My son in Miami is not coming up as he is working. Our big family has cancelled all family functions to be on the safe side (smart move).  So the boss and I will share Christmas together. Hoping for a better 2021. We make the best of our situation.

Fingers crossed that your family will not get sick and SIL dad makes a quick recovery. And hopefully you'll all will be able to get together soon to celebrate. Smart move holding off for now.

For the first time in my married life of 27 years, I'll be spending Christmas day with just my wife and adult daughter.  Usually we send 1/2 the day driving around visiting family and friends within driving distance. I'm actually looking forward to staying home and not spending 2+hours driving.

If anything, we now realize how good we've had it all these years and will have more appreciation for the coming years.

Great thoughts. I keep saying be responsible for yourself, and that’s what we are doing. It’s sad but so much to look forward too. We have our motorcycles and warm weather to get out and about. I don’t think we can catch CV19 while riding. We will get through this as we always do and become stronger as a result.

Peace to all.

This is unfortunate, but definitely the right move. I hope they are as healthy as possible as they fight it off.

Merry Christmas Andrew. Owen is getting so big.

Thanks Rory.

We have both mother in-laws here tonight for dinner as they both come from single houses and see no one. I will post some food porn later but I am sure Owen will eat his share.

Is WH the place that serves pecan waffles?  I was dating a girl years ago who loved those things and we had to go there at least once a week.  I have to say, they were pretty good.

Could be the same place as they do serve pecan waffles.  I've not tried them though...not a big pecan fan (hence moving to Florida rather than Georgia).

Sandford lived in Minneapolis and wrote for the St Paul paper. Some of his books take place in MN and the MPLS police department. Really enjoyable reading. Thanks for mentioning him I had forgotten about his and some other MN mystery writers.

That's one of the reasons that I like his books.  Because both the Virgil Flowers and Lucas Davenport characters work for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, they handle cases all across the state.  Sandford's descriptions of Minnesota are really interesting and I find myself looking up the places that he writes about.  Most are real places.

It reminds me of Donna Leon's books, which take place in Venice (as in Italy). Every time I've been fortunate enough to spend time in Venice, I've constantly looked for the real places she describes.

I can highly recommend her books.😁

My mom just arrived and we will celebrate with a charcuterie board tonight followed by driving to the Broadmoor hotel to see lights. A very low key Christmas for us as well.

www.broadmoor.com

The kids probably won’t even come over tomorrow nor will we see my in-laws.

Nate had his COVID test yesterday in order for his surgery Tuesday. Test came back negative of course. I drop him off at the surgery center Tuesday morning and won’t be able to stay until after he is out and in his own recovery room.

Hope everything goes well for Nate on Tuesday.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas.

Graham.

Try P. J. Tracy. Mother/daughter team. Live in and write about Minnesota, Minneapolis & St. Paul. The mother died a while ago so now it's just the daughter.

The series is about Monkeewrench, computer nerds (hacks) who work with police.

Especially Merry Christmas  to the "lurkers". We know you are out there!  Reading, watching, waiting to pounce....lol

Lurker here...I would post more, but my life is really boring right now!

I am blessed to have some members of my family here- both my brother and oldest son, who live alone, are here. We have been isolating.  My other kids,  who had planned to come from Ontario, have not. We will have a Zoom call this evening.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

We were ALL thrown in a situation which nobody could have been prepared for. The last pandemic was not in our lifetime.

Even those who are working -- they used to go to movies, theater, opera, travel, dine out, meet friends, go shopping or window shopping, meet family, etc. Myself, I'm working part time at home, and used to swim 5 days a week -- the pool was closed 3 months ago, when we started the 2nd lockdown. This Sunday, we'll start the 3rd lockdown, hopefully the last, with the advent of vaccines.

A huge part of this "boring" (and routine) life was taken from us.

But, we still manage to post pictures of snow blowing, walking and eating sandwiches on the seaside, showing the various decorations for Christmas, bike rides, pets, food, grandkids, etc.

None of them are boring. Please don't be shy and take part 🌼
