Yes and Hirsch's cherry cheese knishes on Brighton Beach Bay 3 Boardwalk.  Took an hour each way on the subway,  but we didn't care.  Getting chocolate Italian ices on the trek back to the subway was tradition.  We used to visit Brigantine before the AC casinos came in.

My wife has a recipe from the daughter of the owner of Stahl’s knishes on Coney Island Ave.

Taking the BMT from Prospect Park or Parkside train stations was my ride to Brighton Beach. For me there was nothing like looking out the window of the train as it neared the stop and seeing the beach.

Anyone with a pool will appreciate this, new filters installed today. Rinsed the old ones and stored them for just is case. Also replaced some o-rings.

Interesting.  Never seen a pool filter that had actual filters.  The only ones I’ve seen have been the sand filters.

Our filters are different I believe there are 8 of them , had to replace ours a couple of years ago , has sand before that . Prefer the DE that I had at previous house.

Took the day off yesterday and drove down to Santa Monica pier.

It was great to see the crowds out and the performers entertaining everyone. We had lunch at Bubba Gump's

The beach had a nice crowd out to.  A little to cold for my tastes to be in the water at 69° but for the more hearty it looked like a lot of fun.

We went to the beach today.  Our water is 73.  Still a little too cold for anything other then dipping our toes in.  It was fairly busy but we found a nice spot.  Then off to the local brew pub for lunch.  Now I need a nap.  LOL.979945532_beachdaymay8.thumb.jpeg.5f45f3328f94848a5e239d5e1e54ef05.jpeg

I agree.. DE is the only way to go. It is the least amount of work and the least amount of hassle.

Problem is you need a backwash line going to the sewer for a DE , my current  pool doesn’t have one.

A cool, rainy 40° here this morning.  My part came in, so I put a new water inlet valve in the refrigerator.  We now have ice again.

Our baby robins should be leaving the nest next week.  It is getting pretty crowded in there.

They went from this on April 26,

To this on May 1,

We have a Robins nest in our garage with three chicks in it. It's fun to watch the mama Robin flying back and forth with worms

I don’t mind these. I typically clean them a few times at the start of the season frequently and a couple more as the season goes on. When we were growing up my folks had an indoor pool and I always remember the backwash process.

We have two wren families currently nesting in the bird houses outside.

We loved the pier as well.  We too also ate at Gumps when we were there.

One day I’d like to drive Route 66 there and back. My cousin and her husband did the round trip from Ontario in their 66 Belair 15 years ago. It would be a relationship tester for sure.  I uses that’s why they call it Death Valley.

@George C

I was looking at the Millenium cruises and saw your posts there. We are also thinking about July 3. First booked the June 5 sailing, but cancelled that one since we will be in Florida.

Did you find a decent hotel in St Maarten?

We couldn’t find any decent flights a couple of days before the cruise only flights leaving very early and changing planes so we are flying in the day of the cruise which I hate but have first class direct flight so we are not booking a hotel.

We are booked late November, have done oasis but not allure.

I have been on Oasis several times but not since the ship was amped. I liked her aqua theater shows better that Allure's. However, I much prefer Mamma Mia on Allure over CATS on Oasis.
