Thanks Roy.  As long as they don't change it back again.

Now I am off to bed, and will see you all again tomorrow for 'Guess the departure time!'

8pm is 1am here!

and I want to be up early to watch Koningsdam in Panama Canal.

It is hard work being a ship fan!

How is the Koningsdam going through the Canal. Are they removing the life boats?

Virtual offering bags?

I am on my Church's Finance Committee and honestly expected the offerings received would be few and far between.  Initially, they were.  But, the last Sunday of March and particularly last Sunday, once the virtual services started, the offerings have been better than our Committee expected.

It's either that, or HAL received a possible on-time approval to transit the new locks with the boats housed in their current positions on K-dam

That's the $64 question we've been speculating about on another thread:

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2744781-is-the-koningsdam-heading-back-to-the-caribbean/

It could be that the Canal Authority has given them a dispensation, but right now we're all just guessing.

edit: sorry Copper, your post wasn't there when I started answering.  😀

Probably an ignorant question, but if the ship is going to use the new locks, it's wider, I think.  If so, then why is it so important for the Panama Canal Pilot to be able to see the side of the ship if it is centered into the locks?

The new locks are 55 meters wide, or 20 m more than the K's beam.  I too wonder why lifeboat overhang is a problem!

Well I missed that!

Had to go food shopping and the queue to get into the supermarket was enormously long.  Mostly because people were staying 2 metres apart.  When I got into the store it was a pleasure to shop as the aisles were relatively free of customers.
