Just like I am allergic to most perfumes and colognes and my throat closes up when I get on an elevator with someone overloaded on perfume. Not a good conversation either. Speaking only for myself, I never want a cigarette when I drink. And when I drink I never get the urge to gamble.

Milwaukee Eight Posted April 21, 2020 #28 Share Posted April 21, 2020 It didn’t take this thread long to gain momentum. In my opinion 1

If so, and they try to "social distance" too (which isn't possible), there will be many less passengers including smokers. Agreed, if masks were required my cruising days would be over. And I hope they leave the Windjammer as is..
PhillyFan33579 Posted April 21, 2020 #36 Share Posted April 21, 2020 I for one hope they don’t get rid of smoking in the casinos. That is the only reason why I don’t spend time in casinos on RCI ships. Cruises would get a lot more expensive for me if casinos were smoke free. 2

Celebrity does not allow it, Azamara does not have casinos on most ships. Can't figure out how people would smoke through a mask. Fortunately in the UK and Europe smoking is banned indoors and it was the best thing for people's health. Outdoor smoking is still allowed where smoke is easily dispersed so at least smokers are not being deprived their craving.

Lady Hudson Posted April 21, 2020 #46 Share Posted April 21, 2020 I think it is time for Royal to get rid of smoking in the casino. Other lines have gone this route without having casino revenue suffer. Would definitely make the casino experience more pleasant for me. Smiles1984 Posted April 21, 2020 #47 Share Posted April 21, 2020 This thread has nudged me into realising that changing out UK sailing for an NY sailing means the casino will be off limits to us due to the smoking. Not a big issue, but it does surprise me that US sailings still allow smoking indoors. Apparently the decision has been dragging for years while analysts argue over how you compare US Vs EU casino stats, but it's inevitable that it happens eventually. I'll be happy if it does before we cruise but I'll also happily just avoid the casino.
Roger88 Posted April 21, 2020 #48 Share Posted April 21, 2020 Nothing will stop people from gambling. Of cource, people will be irritated with such a decision but they will always have a chance to smoke outside or at some designated places. Its not like the smoking will be prohibited or something. I think smokers should respect the right for fresh air of those who dont smoke. I used to be a smoker myself and I can totally understand the smokers... but they also should understand those who dont smoke

Many Casinos survive just fine without smoking. I have a non smoking casino 20 minutes from my house. Do I go there? In a word.....NO. I will spend 2.5 hours traveling to AC instead. Can you tell me the #1 reason the 2.4 billion dollar Revel casino closed? I can, it was because they didn’t allow smoking. Before you try to retort, the judge in the bankruptcy case made them switch to smoking to try to save the casino from going under. 2
