Id rather be stuck on the ship 30 days then home.  I was stuck on one during harvey. Casino , good food, free drinks. Sign me up.

Were you seriously sick? Couldn't breathe? Couldn't hold any food down? Extreme body aches? Too fatigued to get out of bed?  Ok, then.

That said, I can't pretend that I don't understand what you THINK it would be like.  A hurricane on land is a big difference from a virus outbreak.  As you may remember from when I posted my Covid-19 story, I was in the Deluxe Owner's Suite on the Bliss on that cruise - the highest category cabin on the ship (there's just 2 of them.)  I actually said to all the people who told me I was crazy to cruise that I HOPED we would get quarantined because I wouldn't mind spending a month in that cabin (and for free!!)  Yes, I said that and I wasn't kidding!!

Ask me again today.  As you know I spent the majority of that week too fatigued to leave my bed.  I couldn't wait to get home because I was miserable.  If they had told me at that time that New York wouldn't let us dock and we would be stuck for a month I would have literally lost my mind.

If you really think you know what it would be like to be stuck on a ship during a viral outbreak, you should talk to some folks from the Diamond Princess and the other quarantined ships to get your head on straight.

However they could just quarantine the passangers that test positive or have symtoms.  Since we all would have been exposed anyway.  But yeah that wont be fun if they did quarantine everyone separately.

As a former medical practitioner,  you have no clue.    Sorry,  no,  your "idea" would not be considered,  if a COVID  outbreak.

I was at sea during the hurricane , Not land.  But i agree i said a few times it would suck to be quarantined to a room.

I meant that being at sea during a hurricane (when they moved the ship away from weather danger) is MUCH different than being AT SEA with a viral outbreak AT SEA.  But I think you knew that and are just clinging on to your last lingering hope. 😉

Then we fly somewhere where the cdc has no say and sail there.

What you don’t understand is that some companies take COVID seriously. SweetnSpice’s company as does my company requires any employee traveling by air or sea to self quarantine after returning. Whether for personal or business travel. My company has over 200,000 employees and they are doing everything possible to keep the employees safe.

And what you dont understand is many people are retired or their own bosses.

Is your amount for more than 1 person  and would include the bonus?     I never spend those kind of rates and have had 5 cruises canceled so far, -  2 more coming up in August.

Yes you have good points.   But this is also a very unpredictable time.   Decisions can not be made very far ahead,  and are constantly changing.    Never-  did I think or even envision this happening.

Its for 2 people minimum Balcony cabin

Lost 24 night Spirit cruise in March.

Lost Haven cruise Memorial day

Lost Bliss for 5/31

Now lost 45 b2b2b NZ cruise.

Plus I have lost 2 MSC cruises as well

I do have b2b2b2b for 2023 for NCL Asia. Fingers crossed.

does mscdiva not realize that msc is hiring and gearing up for august euro cruising?

I saw that....All PR.

Just to get you to feel good and book something so they keep cash flow coming in.

We do not get more and more infections while testing less people in Florida. I would not be surprised by AUgust we go back to phase 1.

to the OP:  I assume from the title of your topic that you are referring only to yourself.  We will be on our November POA cruise unless NCL cancels up to the day before the cruise or the state of Hawaii forbids us to travel there without a 14 day quarantine.

Since we're retired, it doesn't matter whether we go this November or next November. I'm ready to get on a ship tomorrow if there was one to get on.

There is always a risk of that. I agree. Ppl are not being cautious and it could set us all back.  Im upset about that as well.

Well you did say land pancakes. But i forgive you . 😋

The cdc has to get more going than traffic light system of danger levels.  They need exact guidlines on what is needed to start sailing again.  This is unfair to the cruise industry.  I do feel they have been unfairly vilified here in the US.

I can see myself and others flying to a country that has these things in place faster than the cdc does.

Though I agree that canceling the rest of 2020 at one time could decimate the cruise lines, I also believe that there’s still some hope at least some cruises will be able to resume in late 2020. If I were the cruise lines, I’d be hanging on that hope because it’s their livelihood on the line. So much could change for the worse or for the better in the next 6 months. As frustrating as it is not knowing whether I will get to take my December cruise, I’d rather have some hope until it gets closer. Now I do believe a decision should try to be made prior to final payment. That makes a big difference for consumers.

A lot of these spikes represent basically healthy people who, due to increased testing, are testing positive for the virus. To put it in perspective, only ONE person was hospitalized in Florida yesterday because of Covid-19.

this is probably true, however they could decide to go back to phase 1 of opening if cases continue to rise.  ppl are not behaving to be honest i saw it first hand in nc.   texas is talking about going back as well.

I’m in Bermuda ... we haven’t had a positive covid case in 11 days ... 5 remaining still infected ... 63K population ... 141 confirmed cases ... airport closed on 20 March ... there had been 4 repatriation flights to the island from UK, Canada and US (that included the ones from the infected Coral Princess ship) but all of those pax were immediately quarantined For 2 weeks and there had several positive cases ... We have been doing well and all wear masks when going grocery shopping etc ... lots of testing done and still underway...

That said, we have now heard that our airport will open on July 1 for commercial travel ... this is the crucial time for us to find out if our safe haven bubble will burst or not ...

So we’ll wait and see what happen - we will not travel until the vaccine is in.

The ships might be clean and healthy and the crew too ... but it’s the traveling to the port to board the ship ... airports are hot spots - many unknown travelers coming in from who knows where they have been.

So, cruise at your own risk ... the 72 hour certificate of one’s healthy and covid-free state won’t help other pax if you get infected on your way to the ship.

Simply not true, several states hospitalizations are at or near their peak.  In NC, we have set and broken hospitalization records five straight days.  Same statistics with ICU’s.

You're right, seaman, some people are not acting responsibly & it would be a shame to have to go back to more stringent restrictions.  We'll keep wearing our masks & social distancing and, although I'm dying to go on a cruise (we've had two canceled), we'll be waiting not-so-patiently for a proven vaccine.

I don't think there will be a Phase 1 return regardless of figures.  Most countries will probably figure that we have to live with it to a degree.  Populations won't suffer the restrictions all over again regardless of the virtues of  it.  Once yes, but after that it's a case of people making their own life choices.  Just my view.  Economies simply can't take another shut down.

I may have misspoken, as that's what I'm hearing on our local news.  It appears to be true, at least for California.

Sorry to hear about the increase in cases where you are.  I'm definitely not being cavalier about this deadly virus as we must do all we can to protect ourselves.

so when the hospitals fill up and there are no ventilators left and they start making choices of who is going to live and who is going to die.. this will be better than going back to phase 1. Lets hope no one I know or you know are on the losing end of that coin toss

Well, that was a Debbie Downer post. 🙄

my apologies but if you want to cruise again. we need to take covid 19 seriously and go by the science and the data and change our behaviors so it doesn't overwhelm the system

States that opened too early are currently paying a heavy price.

Lets hope we all do our part and get this under control so we can all cruise soon
