3000 is 50% capacity?

See below quote from MSC  in an article on this cruise on the BBC news app.

'MSC Cruises said it will also be operating the MSC Grandiosa at around 70% of its normal operations, with approximately 2,500 passengers onboard, to ensure safety protocols.'

if all these lines are successful, then I expect that the big 3 --Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian should restart by November

MSC have successfully completed their first week long cruise 🎉.

Grandiosa set sail Sunday evening from Genoa for their 2nd rotation.  However 13 passengers from France denied boarding as one of their group tested positive.

The 650 passenger figure mentioned in the article doesn't sound right - maybe they meant 650 embarked in Genoa, but the total should have been a lot more than that. All the passengers who embarked at the other ports should still be on board.

It's sad to deny boarding to all 13, just because of one covid positive patient

They were all in the same bus. So what should they do? The other 12 might have caught it and might be positive during the next few days. According to all local laws here in Europe all of them have to go into quarantine.

Norway extended the ban for another week. So they can´t go for a total of 3 weeks (with one down already).

Still no go to Norway - both MS1 and 2 are heading for the usual Stockholm/Turku runs this week.

AIDA has cancelled cruises out of Italy awaiting approval of Italian government.

They packed it all in and will only sail starting in Nov:

AIDA Cruises canceled its September sailings and now plans to begin service with AIDAmar in the Canary Islands in November.

Norway off-limits

AIDA said the conditions are currently not suitable in Germany's neighboring countries, especially in the north with Norway and Denmark or the Baltic states. For many destinations outside Europe, Germany has travel warnings or the respective countries are blocking cruises until 2021.

'Even though it is currently not possible for cruise ships to call at Norway, which is so important for our voyages to the north, we are confident that the first AIDA ships from Germany will be able to travel to Northern Europe again at the beginning of 2021,' AIDA President Felix Eichhorn said.

All departures through October are canceled

Short voyages with AIDAblu from Kiel, AIDAperla's Hamburg departures on Sept. 12, 19 and 26 and all voyages up to and including Oct. 31 are canceled.

AIDAmar will become the first in the fleet to begin sailing on Nov. 1 with seven-day Canary Islands cruises. AIDAperla will follow on Nov. 7, taking over the program planned for AIDAnova.

AIDAmar will sail round-trip from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, while AIDAperla will offer departures from Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Western Mediterranean

In the Western Mediterranean, AIDAstella will begin sailing Dec. 12 from Palma, Mallorca, on seven-day cruises.

All other voyages planned for the fall and winter 2020/21 in the Western Mediterranean, the Azores, Cape Verde Islands and Northern Europe are canceled.

Dubai cruises are on

AIDAprima is scheduled to begin sailing from Dubai Dec. 11 and from Abu Dhabi Dec. 15.

Other long-distance voyages canceled

Caribbean cruises by AIDAdiva, AIDAluna and AIDAperla are canceled this winter, along with cruises to Southern Africa with AIDAmira, Southeast Asia with AIDAbella and AIDAvita, the Indian Ocean with AIDAblu and the Orient with AIDAprima, up to and including the Dec. 8 voyage.

^ it will be interesting to see if Tui keeps going with its cruises to nowhere out of Hamburg and Keil. Looks like Mein Schiff 6 will finally start her way to Greece (she's in Bremerhaven) for the still on the books 9/13 sailing from Crete

Biker, who wonders if the numbers on those northern sailings are still at "capacity".

Biker, TUI Cruises has full charter flights only and no individual shore tours for the Greece cruises. By September a pre cruise Covid-19 test is mandatory as well (they have a coop with a hospital chain operating 86 locations all over Germany and pay for the test).

While Costa now is doing the quick tests prior to boarding (like MSC, same antigen tests), AIDA never talked about testing. Now they want to start out with the regular planned itineraries...
