Looks like very onerous conditions.  Just one example, if I read this correctly; if you exhibit symptoms, or come in contact with a suspected sick person, while in a distant port, you can be denied re-embarking and then what, left on the dock?  Not for me thank you.

That was my question as well. so they can just not allow you to get back on the ship with your family? also, a lot of symptoms a person may display may not be due to covid so will that be cause for the cruise lines to be over zealous in their protocols...

We are on the Mardi Gras at the end of August this year.   We are in a Havana Cabana room, so i am not too concerned about the protocols.  We already will have our own access to the Havana area pools, which only the Havana cabins have access too.   And i love to just sit on my balcony/cabana area and listen to the water.     We can eat on our cabana and relax.

I am ready...lets go!!

I would add it says carnival approved excursions. Some will be outside vendors, approved by carnival. Not carnival excursions.

Just pointing out the wording. Could be that favorite excursion will get carnival approval.

I think the 3 covid tests are more onerous than which excursion to take. Just me.

Excursions and masks are a no go.  I don't recall seeing this when I booked a cruise in December 2020 to sail summer 2022. I just moved all of my money from a cancelled cruise to this one too.  Will not be happy if I lose thousands of dollars.

Where are you seeing 3 covid tests?  I only saw this under testing...

As part of our efforts to keep our guests safe and healthy, every guest 2 years of age or older, joining a ship, regardless of method of travel to the ship, is required to take a SARS-CoV-2 test between 5 days to 24 hours prior to the date of embarkation and must receive a negative result.

Maybe, but you can be sure that to get that "approval" will require giving Carnival a cut so effectively they'll all be Carnival excursion pricing, so at that point it seems to become semantics.

Cdc says it from what I've read. You are required fo do 1 before you board. Carnival will give you another one at boarding and at debarking. This is only until nov 1stt. After that I'm hoping cdc goes away and leaves cruising alone. I only have the one booking prior to nov 1st. After that I'm hoping vaccines count... idk what. One booking at a time.

I'm so glad I finally decided to just get a refund. It's not just the fact of wearing a mask, getting a test, limited excursions...it would be constant stress worrying if I was doing everything "right", false positives/negatives, potential quarantine in a small room, fighting for reservations just to "relax" on the sun deck...

So far this appears to be the requirements through 1 Nov 2021.

Your cruise in 2022 is not (yet) impacted.

I wish we could just get a refund but I don’t think we can.  We have four outstanding cruises booked originally on a combination of cash and gift cards and subsequently turned to cruise credits and rebooked.  It is such a mess.  But I agree that the entire thing is just stressful at this point.  It feels like some weird twisted game designed to make everyone miserable and trip up both cruise lines and passengers.

This sounds like prison with perks.  1500 people all go to a superspreader event 2 days before departure, get tested the day before, all is good, and then get on a ship for a week...?  The science is bunk.  The rules are bunk.

I have my printed Covid test.   Easy to recreate.  I wonder what will be "official"?

Haha I’m totally fine with this. Looks like cruises won’t be full of non compliant people and that’s totally ok with me.

Yeah, because every other rule is strictly enforced on cruise ships. I would not count on anywhere near 100% of compliance. If you are in the endangered group, protecting yourself will ultimately be your responsibility. Good intentions/guidelines are one thing, reality/compliance another. They aren't mutually exclusive. Choose wisely, each person is willing to accept different levels of risk and should not cast that care to others or a organization/company. And them's the facts.

I'd cruise with these conditions, at least initially. Seems pretty reasonable all things considering. I hope that the cruise lines, in return, will not be forced to do ridiculous and unnecessary quarantines if a few folks end up catching covid despite best practices. Folks are getting it in the community (by the hundreds of thousands everyday) so it's not like it isn't already out there. They are also talking about opening more schools all over so there will be a huge number of community transmissions there as well.

They're not closing down big box stores/malls or making anyone who goes shopping quarantine so I hope there is some logical consistency and not a bunch of people just champing at the bit to crap on the industry the instant a few cases show up. Just like every other store, school, church, hotel, casino, airline, bus line etc etc etc. There WILL be some cases; question is, will the cruise lines be treated fairy (like other industries) or singled out and expected (like no other industry) to have a 100% covid negative report card in order to exist. Some community transmission is inevitable (no matter how cautious) and that's just a fact. Even with the best mitigation efforts. Hopefully we can move on to rational responses, rather than emotional or wishful.

We have three Carnival cruises, all rebookings from cancellations. I don't mind the tests etc. but I am concerned about the what ifs and all of the other "spirits hiding under the bed". I decided to take a deep breath and just wait and see. If these three are canceled I will decide then what we will do. I also have a combo of GC and credit card payments and it was a hassle the last time we moved the bookings. Lesson take away: never use Carnival Gift cards when booking.

Well said neighbor to the south of us. I recently said about the same thing to my friend and we both could not figure out why the brouhaha when it comes to cruising. We continue on traveling on city public transportation along with planes, trains etc to other states and there is not the same amount of scrutiny as cruise ship travel. Agreed we are on a floating hotel with the same people for a length of time, and I agree with monitoring the outside contact while on board but sometimes I wonder why the CDC is treating cruise ships differently than other modes of transportation.

Well, the only aspects that make me say "Hmmmm", is the pool deck reservations.

The wife and I always like to hit the gym when it opens then head to the pool deck early so we can get a good position for the day.

We generally always sit near the pool or near bars. I would hate it if we receive a reservation on a higher or lower level that is far from everything.

Masks don't bother me. Vaccines don't even bother me. Restricted excursions don't even bother me because we rarely leave the ship when in the Mexican Riviera or Caribbean.

But as some others have said, I just want to get on a ship, eat drink and relax.

It is only for sailings through October 2021 as of now.
