Fake vaccine cards

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

First of all I do NOT want to start a debate on getting/not getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Royal Caribbean is requiring everyone to be fully vaccinated to board their ships. I am wondering how the cruise lines are going to verify if the vaccine cards provided are legitimate since there is not currently a vaccine passport. Anyone can make or purchase “fake” vaccine cards these days.

That's RC problem. Not my concern or my business what others might be doing. We are fully vaccinated and have our vaccine cards stashed with our passports. RCG hasn't made it mandatory that everyone be fully vaccinated in order to cruise on their ships. They should, no matter age or medical condition.

I mean, if someone is dumb enough to pay for a vaccine card, then by all means, let them risk themselves. We're vaccinated, so other than also jeopardizing the entire ship's voyage, it's no skin off my back.

Also, would be very funny if they ended up getting Covid, the voyage cancelled, and the world of legal and civil trouble they'd be in.

While I don't necessarily care if someone who would use a fake vaccination card to sail would catch Covid, I certainly would care if a cruise I was on was impacted by their bad behavior and I certainly don't think it would be funny.

You're going to hate the crazy drunks than too.. If masks are a requirement anywhere, I foresee the security being busier than normal taking care of drunken buffoons.

Don't care if folks aren't vaccinated.  It's a risk they decide to take.  Doesn't affect me.  I'll mask where I need to protect myself.  I'll avoid situations that look risky.  If I choose to get vaccinated, that's a matter between me and my nurse practitioner.  Scream all you want about how you want everyone else to protect you, and I'll happily ignore you.  If cruising is to risky for you, you're welcome to stay home cooped up in your virus proof bubble.  As for me, I'm getting on with life.  Quit screaming about vaccines, and masks, and distancing, and mandates, and all the crazy worthless laws that have ruined our economy over the past year plus.

I predict by the time the first cruise leaves a US, RCG will not ask if you're vaccinated or request proof of vaccines....and there will not be a mandate for masks & social distancing.  Watch this happen.

There would be absolutely NOTHING funny about someone carrying COVID onboard and destroying the vacations of a thousand other people. And some only have the J&J vaccine which is only 65% effective. There would be nothing funny about someone carrying COVID onboard, infecting the crew, infecting the kids, infecting other adult passengers,,, resulting in the ship flying the black/yellow checkered flag and being banned from entering port.

With the cruise contract that everyone signed, mask compliance or compliance with any COVID rules is an easy security task. Non-compliance,,, confine the passenger and escort them off at the next port. Simple. A multi-billion dollar industry hinges on having successful cruises over the next few months. Tolerance for non-compliance will be low to nil.

It remains to be seen. Royal has not communicated their COVID policy with near-term cruisers (e.g., our cruise that leaves in less than 2 weeks). And has not required us to upload our vaccine card. Our airline required us to upload our vaccine cards and "accepted" it. And the Bahamas required us to upload our vaccine cards and "accepted" it. Royal has only required the normal photo to be uploaded at check-in for unspecified purposes (e.g., NCL is using your photo for facial recognition at COVID checkpoints on the ship).

Reminder from the FBI: The unauthorized use of an official government agency's seal (such as HHS or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)) on a fake vaccine card is a crime, and may be punishable under Title 18 United States Code, Section 1017, and other applicable laws.

Yup.  2 weeks ago we were at Dollywood.  Signs said masks are required.  Nobody wore masks.  2 Days later they removed the mask requirement.

A year ago everything changed by the minute because we knew nothing.  Now everything is changing at an equal pace because we know much.  Herd immunity has been reached.  For those who want to call me on that, understand it is not a finite line that is crossed.  Us Neanderthals here in TX have seen all metrics going down since we pulled the plug on the BS.   I still can't believe the hysteria and apoplexy that still exists.   Never been interested in Roll Calls but I want to sign up just to see who some of these people are - I'll be like the country bumpkin at the travelling Ripleys exhibit circa 1892, jaw agape in amazement, seeing it in the living flesh.  Oh the humanity!

This person would have to lick a lot of door handles to accomplish this fantasy scenario

That certainly won't cause my cruise to be cancelled or delayed.

At the moment, it’s looking like you will be one of the ones welcome to

stay home, because you need to be vaccinated to cruise.

OP — at least for the AOS cruises out of the Bahamas, RCI doesn’t need to verify vaccine cards — the Bahamian government is requiring it as part of their health visa.  Not sure what if any, verification they will do, but it’s a much bigger risk to submit false documents in a customs and border situation with a government, than submitting same to a company.  No idea if people will be reckless enough to do it, but if they are, and get caught..... won’t be fun I’m sure

RC was requiring vaccines on Adventure prior to Bahamas accepting them with the health visa.

The best case scenario for fake vaccine cardholders is that they will be able to get through the terminal and cruise with zero cases onboard. It's true that anyone can purchase and/or make what looks like a real vaccine card, and this will most likely be enough for check-in purposes.

However, should a significant number of cases manifest onboard, the fake vaccine cards will not pass the scrutiny of Royal or the feds when they decide to do a closer inspection for liability purposes. The financial and legal trouble these passengers will be in, whether they catch the virus or not, will be something to behold.

They aren’t requiring you to upload it as part of online check-in, or even asking about it currently — not sure why it matters what they were doing weeks ago, but aren’t doing now.  I believe they expect you to present it at embarkation, but that would be a bit late to do any kind of verification.

UK Anthem requirements: All crew members onboard will be fully vaccinated, and at this time, the cruises are only available to be booked by UK residents above the age of 18 who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and those under the age of 18 with negative test results.

Jewel Cyprus requirements: Adult guests (18+) on this sailing must provide proof of a COVID-19 vaccination, completed 2 weeks prior to sailing. Guests may need to provide a negative RT-PCR test result to enter the country their cruise departs from; age requirements vary. A Health Questionnaire must be completed within 24 hours prior to sailing. Booked guests will be provided full details before their cruise.

News to me. Last I saw rcl didnt have a policy from the US. I actually think the policy will be unvaccinated so children can cruise.

There would be no reason to be applying for mock cruises if they were doing vaccinated.

I would guess you are seeing alaska and thinking that was the overall USA policy.

What a sad world we live in if someone uses a fake vaccination card to get on a cruise.  It's not like one has to pay for the vaccine.

I'm just so done with selfish people.

I think it's a sad world we live in if somone is required to even show a vaccine card.  I'll refuse to show mine as well. And I don't think I'll have to either. I've had my vaccine card for 12 weeks. I have been to many places, public & private and only Doctor has asked me if I was vaccinated.  I don't even carry it w/ me. This whole ordeal is being overblown big time.
