Anyone that read any of my pre-Cruise comments on this Celebrity Board knows that I was very blunt in my disappointment in the communications coming from corporate leading up to this cruise.  We  were frustrated, confused, concerned, and timid about what was happening.  I went so far to wonder if celebrity was actually ready to cruise on 5 June.  I am happy to admit that I was wrong.  Celebrity, the st Marten Airport and Cruise Port have been delivering a much much better experience then I expected on its first run out.  Not everything is perfect as some selections in the restaurants are sub par but most are simply good.  Much has already been written about the boarding, crowd sizes, etc so I will simply touch on some items I haven’t seen reported.  Excursions yesterday seemed shorter but were well run.  We did the Beach and the price was right and again well run.  The venue did a very good job of keeping us segregated in a bubble from others.  So much so we watched beach resort security rush in to remove a beach wondering vendor and chase down a roving guests who was walking to far from the group.  The bus ride return to the ship was fine but a rather long wait for the port folks to enter the bus and check out that we were all accounted for and had followed procedures.  We did hear a few grumbling from a few frustrated passengers that complained that they couldn’t leave the ship in Barbados because the excursions had sold out.  Good lesson here to precook your tours too ensure you good to go off the ship when ship bookings are required.  I will close by commenting about how simply amazing and happy the crew are to see passengers.  The service has been TREMENDOUS.  Opps, I failed to mention how clean and I do mean clean everything is.  I can complain with the best of them but feel responsibility to admit when I was wrong.

Thanks for posting!  I think many of us are curious how the experience has changed from pre-pandemic levels.  Has there been any dining changes such as extended dining hours, take out, increased room service offerings and can you still order MDR room service?  Are show seating blocking seats?  Any other changes we could be missing?

Can you please confirm that the Classic drinks package which is included no longer includes speciality coffees. Are these only covered by upgrading now?

Thanks

I just went online and found this.  Yes, you need to upgrade to the premium!

I see "premium coffees" in both packages...

As do I. We've always enjoyed specialty coffees with the CBP and no doubt will continue to do so.

We don't drink....

Give DH an espresso [hopefully it remains under the category of "premium coffee"] and me soda water, and we're all set....

Great to hear from folks actually floating on the water from an embarkation port closer to home. Miaminice kept us all extremely well informed from a TUI cruise in Europe months ago. We are grateful to the OP for this opportunity to cruise along vicariously once again.

I am curious. I realize that this cruise is the culmination of over a years worth of anxiety and uncertainty and concern, regarding many challenges for everyone. For tallyho8 and Oldsweets, do you feel that the excitement and the experience is somewhat muted because of the paucity of passengers? In other words, could this adventure be more enjoyable if there was a full ship of cruisers enjoying it with you? Not that 800 people isn't a lot, but times that by three, could it get any better?

The coffee is included....a reporter got a free trip and reported it wasn't, it usually is not in "free" trips...you pay for drinks, etc al a carte.

If all works out well, and Florida remains a problem, maybe in the coming months more and more cruises would leave from Barbados!

I could be wrong but I believe the cruise originated in St. Maarten (the original post itself was created “live from” while the ship was in Barbados on June 7.

What are specialty coffees that you refer?, both packages indicate premium coffee.

How about this?

Or just call the cruise line yourself and then tell us.  Celebrity has always contradicted themselves on their website and can be confusing.

Haven’t noticed extended hours or even looked at carry out options given how well things have gone.  The dining rooms are almost deserted with all the reduced passengers not filling seats.  But each nite every table is fully set with every item just as they expected thousand or so guests to just chow up.  As far as the vibe with reduced passengers at least for us we do cruise some on smaller ships so we are ok with it.  It does though have an odd feel when in the main dining room or pool deck.  Today is a sea day and this is the most folks we have seen on deck with a respectable showing.  Last night at the casino they had a great crowd.  When we look at our balcony at other balcony’s we seldom see a soul so different but not troubling.  For now comforting….

I may be missing something, but looking at the chart, under both Classic and Premium packages, I see “premium coffees” under the non-alcoholic section.  I realize that there are some coffees which include alcohol are $10, so that puts them $1.00 over the $9 limit, thus costing $1.20.
