geordiebing Posted July 20, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2021 I know you can’t smoke in your stateroom or balcony, but can you vape. Has anyone tried it and been caught. I ask this because my partner Vapes and she is says she used to vape on Princess. This will be our first time on Celebrity and she now wants to cancel even though we would loose the full cost of the cruise as it is only three weeks away.
phoenix_dream Posted July 20, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2021 the answer is no. If you get caught you will be warned. If you do it again they can kick you off the ship. If vaping is a must have, she can vape in the couple of smoking areas. 7
Rare mom says Posted July 20, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2021 Short answer:no its not allowed. X treats vaping just like smoking. It's only permitted in the designated smoking areas. Which are in specific outdoor areas.

She wants to cancel the cruise because she can't vape in the cabin? 11
Rare abbydancer2003 Posted July 20, 2021 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2021 (edited) Incidentally, Princess doesn't allow it either, so she was playing with fire (no pun intended). Edited July 20, 2021 by abbydancer 1

Well, I think she needs to work some overtime to make up for the cost of cancelling this cruise and losing the money. Vaping must be very important to her. I have never been an addicted smoker so I don't understand that need, but I know for some people it is real. If she vapes in the stateroom next to ours I will knock at the door and ask that she take advantage of the very nice smoking areas (Warning 1). If she continues I will turn it over to security and she will receive Warning 2. If she continues I will complain again and she/you will be escorted off ship at the next port. You may want to know that stateroom attendants and butlers are expected to report smoking violations to security, as well. We adults have decisions to make and not every decision makes us happy. It might be that her best decision is to go back to Princess. She certainly won't have to worry about someone like me on that line. Rare cruisestitch Posted July 20, 2021 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2021 I once saw a man vaping in café al Bacio. The manager of that venue politely pointed out the outside areas, just a few steps away, where he could vape. About half an hour later he started again. An officer politely pointed out the door to the open deck. The third time, the officer returned with two security officers who escorted the passenger away. I never saw him again. YMMV 14

YMMV We, unfortunately, were on a Princess cruises a few years ago and a guy in our party decided to have a cigar at an upper deck bar, just fifty or so feet from the smoking area. The bartender told him he could move his chair and table to the smoking area. The guy (a real butt face) told the bartender he would smoke his cigar there. Without a word the bartender picked up the ashtray and took it to he bar and held the cigar under running water until it was thoroughly soaked, then returned it, in the ashtray. We all died laughing. The butt face stomped away to complain. I waited for the officer and explained it all to him. No problem for the bartender. I think he thought the passenger was on fire.... 9

This will be our first time on Celebrity and she now wants to cancel even though we would loose the full cost of the cruise as it is only three weeks away. What is Celebrity Cruises’ Smoking Policy? For the comfort and enjoyment of our guests, our ships are designated as non-smoking; however, we recognize that some of our guests smoke. Therefore, to provide an onboard environment that also satisfies smokers, we have designated certain areas of the ship as "smoking areas." Generally, smoking is not permitted except in designated areas. (Contact Guest Relations for additional details). This policy includes smoking-like products such as electronic cigarettes. Smoking is not permitted inside any guest stateroom; nor on any guest veranda. If a guest is in violation of this policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to their SeaPass® account and the guest may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of this Guest Conduct Policy. Celebrity Cruises® kindly asks all guests to please observe the non-smoking areas and to refrain from smoking cigarettes, pipes or cigars in any of the non-designated areas. These requests are made to provide a comfortable shipboard environment for everyone. Where permitted, cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must always be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. A guest must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco. Failure to act in accordance with this policy may result in: Intervention by security, other management personnel, or law enforcement Removal of certain onboard privileges, which may include being detained, quarantined or confined in a cabin or hold cell Confiscation of illegal/contraband/prohibited items (may be turned over to law enforcement authorities) Denial of boarding on the current or any future Celebrity Cruises® Reporting of incidents to government and law enforcement Authorities for follow-on legal action Removal from ship at the next port of call. Guests removed from a Celebrity ship pursuant to this policy, are responsible for their own accommodations and transportation home, at their expense. Documentation requirements for re-entry into the guest's home country are also the responsibility of the guest. Establishing and articulating a Guest Conduct Policy helps ensure that all guests are able to enjoy a fantastic, safe and secure cruise experience. Take it from me, it does not. It may keep you from devolving into a screaming Karen (it takes the edge off by maintaining a certain nicotine level). But the urge is still there. However there's no need for the patch if you aren't actively trying to quit. There are plenty of DSAs on the ship. And I know them all. Intimately. Rare Jim_Iain Posted July 21, 2021 #15 Share Posted July 21, 2021 I observed security pounding on the door of a cabin on my last cruise. As I walked by I heard security say that their fire alarm had activated. They person said they were just vaping.... I couldn't hear what they responded as I didn't want to be a gawker and kept walking. Rare Jim_Iain Posted July 21, 2021 #20 Share Posted July 21, 2021 I'm sure it's a conundrum. In our town, Sunnyvale, CA smoking is prohibited in any multi family facility including Townhouses, Condo and even Duplexes. My HOA prohibits it anywhere on the property even outside. The regulations also prohibits vaping and marijuana smoking in multifamily homes, even though it's legal here. Most of our smoking neighbors now are getting exercise and walk out to the street and smoke there as long as they are 25 feet from a home.

kevanmia Posted July 21, 2021 #23 Share Posted July 21, 2021 (edited) In terms of leaving behind a residual odor that would require some sort of stateroom cleaning, comparing vaping to smoking is like comparing a cup of coffee to crack cocaine. I really can't tell the difference between a vape and my essential oil humidifier. Especially after 30 minutes. Teenagers who vape in the school bathroom do it because there's really no getting "caught" after you've left the scene of the crime. Then again, if your policies can't adopt to a world of color, black and white it is. Fair enough. Edited July 21, 2021 by kevanmia
