The chances of a vaccinated person getting very sick is still way below 1%.

However, the chances of an unvaccinated person with a fake vaccination card getting sick is much higher.

In recent weeks I had been in company of two positive people, both double vaccinated, I am double vaccinated have an immune deficiency, I have been negative, I even been to hospital today for a minor operation….believe me I’m shocked

1% of 2400 passengers (at 60% capacity) is 24 people.

I know that....but, I could be that "1 in a million".  If I could be assured, with just about no effort, why not?  I have 3 upcoming dates.  Didn't want my friends to worry if I went into a coughing spasm!

My point about reconsidering really has nothing to do with me getting sick.  I went maskless outdoors two weeks after #2, maskless indoors as soon as I could....went to a B'way event Sunday (vaccinations mandatory, masks optional) etc.  Point being...I feel very confortable going out and about.

But how do I know what's gonna happen in November.  Suppose I need to wear a mask?  Suppose there are other restrictions?  Why bother to pay for this?  Why bother to give NCL a substantial amout of money and if the trip gets canceled...yet another FCC for another "unknown".

If I'm spending thousands of dollars...I could have a blast at my local casino, buy a major jewelry bauble, see shows, dine out for that money....all without the stress.

DH says "hold off canceling" until final payment...and he's the one who doesn't like cruising.  Lol!

Just wanted to add....who knows what "varients" will show up?  Who knows how long the vaccine will be effective?  Too many "who knows"......

If it were just "the status quo" from a week ago, that would be ok.  But every day it seems we get farther way from what was "the staus quo" a week ago.

If you're coughing, you should probably avoid friends and work anyway.  Even if it's just a cold, who wants to catch someone's cold?

Doing the math from the CDC #'s. Death is a .018% chance if you get infected in the US unvaccinated.  2400-.018% death rate is .432  I will take the chance. I am vaccinated.  People aren't getting vaccinated here at the rate the government wants and I believe the push of information again is to get people to get vaccinated. The virus didn't go anywhere. It is here and we have to live with it. Booked on Encore for Dec 26th. So hopeful....

I'm booked on the Getaway December 22, and short of NCL cancelling, I'll be on that cruise.  COVID will do whatever it's going to do, and I've basically stopped caring.  If I need to wear a mask, I'll wear a mask.  If they want me to get a booster shot, I'll get a booster shot.  Whatever.  Don't care.  I want to get back to real life already.

I'm vaccinated, and wear a mask everyday at work. If I have to wear a mask indoors, so be it. I think Covid of some form will be with us for quite a while, and I refuse to let it run my life. I'm cruising this September in Alaska, and next May in the Caribbean. Hopefully more to come.

My sentiments EXACTLY. I'm booked on Escape on November 27th and if it's sailing, I'm there. Whatever they want me to do, I'll do. I trust the science.

Booked for 8/15 on the Gem and still fully plan on going unless NCL pulls the rug out from under our feet again.

Glad you’re going, we’re doing the same ship about a month after you. Hoping all

goes smoothly and that you have a great time on the Gem.

I'm retired....been with DH almost all day every day.  So far he's been fine. I don't think this is a cold or cold related because "cold medicine" does nothing.  It started as a tickle in my throat when I was wearing a mask for 7 hours and trying to speak.

Friend #1 and #2 have been informed and still want to meet. (Friend #1 is a medical professional.)

No temp, no runny nose, no sneezing.....and when I don't speak, no coughing.

Anyway...just found this:

The only second thoughts I would have sailing right now would be with NCL. They were my go to line the last few years but I'm very weary of them right now and their position in restarts and financially. Its not the covid that makes me reevaluate as I'm sailing in a few weeks. It's NCL sitting  idle still .

Yes … have been re-evaluating! Currently booked to sail on NCL Jade out of Athens on August 22. Husband and I have been fully vaccinated via J&J since March but do have some concerns about “breakthrough” infection. I inquired about getting Pfizer “booster” from doctor - who said no, not necessary and that we are safe to travel. I am not afraid to get the Delta variant but do have some concerns about being quarantined in Greece if I were to test positive either before or after the cruise. We have full travel insurance and have pushed things off our work calendars for the week after the cruise should the worst case scenario occur. Plan to be tested before we leave and I will also now bring my computer to work from Athens if I have to - ugh !! All said … we’re still a go!!! 😊

After being fully vaccinated in March, we decided to book a 7D out of FL in January for the week prior to an already booked 6 weeks in a Sanibel Island beach front condo, thinking we'd be down there anyway and it would be a great re-entry into cruising, as well as a great way to start our first vacation in almost 2 years.

We just cancelled the cruise and will enjoy the 6 wks beachfront.

The tipping point for us was the (remote) possibility of somehow testing positive during the cruise and being denied re-boarding and/or facing quarantine.  As we're fully vaccinated we'd in all likely hood not have any severe effects and possibly be asymptomatic, but at this point the uncertainty and potential turmoil doesn't outweigh the upside of going.  We've been to all the ports already, so it really was a cruise just to enjoy the 'cruise' part.

We have 3 other cruises booked later in '22 and '23, and are looking forward to them.

I am on the Joy November 27, 2021.  It is out of Miami, FL.  This is my fourth try.  My only hope is the week before is Thanksgiving.  NCL will have to sail that or lose lots of money.  On a very personal note, this cruise is a Bucket List Cruise.  I was going to be my 40th wedding Anniversary and we were taking my 3 adult children.  It took over two years to make happen.  I was one of the original folks cancelled.  They offered me 125% FCC or cash back.  I took the FCC.  My family, folks on Cruise Critic and it seem the world thought I was crazy.  To add to my craziness', I had booked a Haven Two Bedroom Family Villa on the Encore for five folks in the Cabin.  It was stupid money to begin with.  Now it was stupid plus 25%.

Then I was cancelled yet again, now their was no more extra FCC. However they gave 10% off of you next cruise. SOOOOO, I booked the same cabin on the Encore to Alaska.  CANCELLED.  I was once again disappointed, frustrated and exhausted at having to do this all over again. I was just playing around with different ship, itineraries and cabin types.

I found the Joy.  I knew the history of the Joy.  Just for the sake of trying, I did the math for a (H2) Deluxe Owners Suite.  BINGO!!!!  When I took all the FCC, the 10% off next cruise I could sail the Joy with $0.00 additional money in the suite everyone ever wanted to go in.  This could NEVER have happened except for all the craziness that happened before.  No hesitation I booked it.  That was Months ago.

SOOOO, will I go in this trip if it happens.  You BET.  Am I looking forward to it.  YEP.  Will I for the first time in my life possibly get a "Oh My God, Dad" from my adult children joining us.  Probably not.  But I may be wrong on that.  Cruise well everyone.

But isn't that if every passenger gets covid? On a fully vaccinated ship we expect that hardly anyone should catch it. While they say that it protects 90% against hospitalisation for people that DO catch it, very few vaccinated folk should get it due to reduced transmission, and protection from impact.  Let's say 1% catch it from some fully viral loaded passenger, creating 24 cases. Of those 24 cases, 2 or 3 could result in hospitalisation.  And that, hoping not to sound ageist, is more likely to occur in the upper 70's/80's age group.  Even then, the odds are quite good.

Of course, my math is not good tonight after the pubs have opened in Ireland, so perhaps I'm talking complete nonsense.

Booked on Jade out of Athens 9/19. We (my wife and I) talked a little before final payment last week, but we never really considered not going for it.

It's our 25th anniversary cruise, and our first since our honeymoon. Our actual anniversary was in March; we'd planned for several years to go to NZ but that's not an option for a while. So a cruise seemed romantic, and we're vaxxed and ready to go and  excited! If we have to wear masks, by now we know what each other looks like.

Thar doesn't mean there's anything wrong with not going if masks are a thing for you. It's supposed to be fun and people have different preferences.

I'm tired of COVID,  as a pastor I'm tired of making decisions I never thought I'd have to (and it being impossibleto please everyone). I can use a break.

I guess the worst thing that can happen is getting quarantined in Greece if one of us tests positive, but that, too, would be reminiscent of our honeymoon I guess.

We are on the 9/26 Breakaway to Bermuda to replace  November Princess cruise that was canceled.   Now I regret not booking an earlier cruise with Royal Caribbean because they went maskless on. Board. I'm  pretty sure that by the time we cruise masks will be required inside.

I saw a video the other night of the girl (stage name Nightbird) on America's Got Talent.  She is surviving lung, spine & liver cancer with only a 2% survival rate.

Her response to the judges when she was chatting with them was:

"You cant wait until life stops getting hard before you become happy."

  IMHO...so very true!

Same here. I don't care if I have to wear a hazmat suit, unless NCL cancels on us, we are sailing with them 52 days from now, come what may. 😄
