Thanks for the update.  I would not be surprised to see it extended well into the spring of 2022.  I think you are going to see more countries welcoming only fully vaccinated travelers.

Face masks are required in casinos, right?

1) "First, we strongly encourage guests wear face masks when in public spaces indoors. ALL guests will be required to wear a face mask – with no exceptions – in elevators, retails shops, in the casino, and other designated areas except while eating and drinking. "

2) "Our Casino will resume with enhanced and frequent sanitation of all high-touch surfaces, including table game positions, slot machines, and cashier areas. Smoking will be permitted in the Casino and within our designed Cigar/Cigarette lounges."

This was not unexpected.  CDC tonight just recommended that those who are at high risk not to cruise.

I did open the first link and it doesn't specify that back to backs have to be in the same cabin.  Poor wording.

It didn't to me either.  But on the Majestic last week people were smoking up a storm in the casino.  And I didn't see anyone figure out how to do it while remaining masked.

It means that the smokers and drinkers in the casino probably won't be wearing their masks very much.

We normally like to go to the casino, but now we have to decide if this is for us or not.

My TA had lots of cancellations today.

We went to Vegas last summer and I swear that people were just holding a lit cigarette simply so they wouldn’t have to mask.

Not a surprise, but seeing more stories about about limited testing is concerning.  I am still leaning toward taking my New Year cruise, but wonder about availability right after Christmas.

The CDC considers smokers as among those with travelers who are at risk for severe illness from Covid. They should avoid cruise ship travel regardless of vaccination status.

Hit on hyperlink "people with an increased risk of severe illness"

I think many of these protocols are here to stay, unfortunately.

Taking your shoes off at airports in the US is still a thing and it's just a protocol we got use  to- Unless you have TSA precheck

I have a feeling some of these new protocols will be kept for the long haul.

There was a death of a 77 y/o woman on the Carnival Vista out of Galveston.  She was vaccinated and by the time the shipped docked in Belize they had to take her off the ship to a hospital in Belize.  Was airlifted back to OK where she was from and died a few days later.  And btw she did not have insurance.

Unfortunately, I agree with you.

I agree and for some of the changes, that would be a good thing. Covid is not the first or the last issue. Maybe if some were in place years ago, maybe Noro would have been less of an issue.

I agree.  We recently added a cruise to our November Hawaii cruise and our TA was told we had to be in the same cabin (which we wanted also).  Sounds like an unofficial rule???

Carnival has been allowing unvaccinated children on its cruises

I don't understand why folks are doing that

It is dangerous for the children as well as for the adults

I have not heard of problems so far with the Princess cruises to Alaska

Does anyone know more info about those cruises?

Iam happy about these extra safety protocols

Here on land our local live  theaters are checking vax status or negative covid tests before each performance

I am glad about that too!

Seriously misleading headline. What was Carnival supposed to do? Stay in port until she got well or died?

Keep her on the ship which isn't an appropriate location for a seriously ill person?

The article doesn't mention "abandoned", only the eye-grabbing headline.👎

How on God's Green Earth did she think it was a good idea to NOT have travelers insurance?? CCL & others have been really upfront (almost in your face) about the need for insurance.

Frankly, I'm relieved that the protocols (vax, test, mask) are staying in place for my next cruise (December 9th: Caribbean & partial Panama Canal).
