Are you planning to book on Vista?

I've only sailed Oceania once (on Insignia) but trying to book Regatta for late 2022.  One itinerary on Vista caught my attention and it's late in 2023.  Sent a note to the travel agent last week and she responded that she's put me on "the list" for when bookings open.   We'll see what happens.  We cancelled a February 2022 on Azamara because of uncertainty about the virus and a very long airplane ride to get to embarkation port.   I'm trying to remain optimistic about cruise travel in general, though.

Sorry I misunderstood and thought you went in to check availability

Jan, We put ourselves on the waitlist for a couple of cabins on Insignia 8/9/22, Reykjavik to Paris, through M last week.  Felt that we would be comfortable leaving the US by then. Keep your fingers crossed for us. xoxo

We are considering a 2023 cruise onboard Vista and the one that intrigues us has a 2 day stop in Haifa and 1 day in Ashdod.  Our understanding is that Israel ports are frequently diverted to other ports due to the country's volatility.  We may proceed to book this cruise recognizing the risk that the cruise line will not stop. That said, we are curious to hear from O cruisers that were fortunate to visit or, not and their experiences/recommendations.  (Posted this question under the Other Med Ports page but, no replies to date. Also scanned O Roll Calls.)

We had a great trip in Israel..Actually we took a  hotel in Jerusalem for the two nights we were in Israel and it worked out wonderfully..we had three days to tour and try restaurants and the country is so small it was easy for our guide to get us back to Ashdod..

Thank you Jancruz for this feedback.  We would book an Overland tour which would give us more time and not be rushed/tired with a shore excursion to Jerusalem. Did you experience Israeli security checks?

We’ll, tomorrow will certainly be an interesting day, seeing whether we get our cruises, or not! Should know by noonish, maybe late afternoon if it’s really hectic. Only one ship with not that many cruises to book.

Where’s the bet line? Most everything sells out quickly and waitlists, or;

Plenty of cabins left on most cruises, just not all cabin classes ?

We did an escorted land tour of Israel and it was fantastic. From the Dead Sea in the south to the Golan Heights to the north. However this morning I got yet another notification from the state department warning against travel there, due to COVID AND violence. I'm glad we went when we did and honestly wonder if it will be safe enough again.

The referenced cruise is in Jun 2023!!  Are those State Dept warnings going out for 21 months?

If Covid is still shutting down everything in 2 years, there won’t be cruise lines to worry about!

Those STEP warnings about violence are just about constant. THAT'S more what I'm referring to and the poster mentioned.

The French balconies will be a hot item -- new ship and new cabin type and least expensive.

I’ve got the alarm set and coffee ready. Hoping the website doesn’t crash! Good luck everyone…

WNcruiser,

Good luck, I am sure you will get through and the Sales Specialist will get your desired itinerary. Use of a well connected Travel Agency/Agent could have bought you some additional sleep and less time listening to the wonderful sounds of the Oceania phone messages. I know, I have often spent an hour on hold before.  at least you are in Florida and the lines open at 9:00. It is 6:00 PST and be thankful you are not in Hawaii.🤪 🙏👍🤞🛳🥂👌

it will be interesting on Thursday to share our stories of Vista booking successes or Waitlists.

We haven’t cruised Oceania for a while, we moved over to Regent and Silversea, however we found a pretty nice cruise on the Vista—-We’ve talked to are TA to book the cruise—guess we’ll see what happens tomorrow.  Both Oceania Sales and are TA will try to get the suite we want.  Looking forward to coming back…..

To answer the OP's question, no we are not booking Vista.

A few disappoints such as Jacques Bistro has been replaced with another American cuisine venue, the "sanctuary" areas gone though adding the bakery and seating area to Barista is terrific. Main thing is current pricing is too high; just does not have that value for us. Seems O believes we have the fever. They might be right. But for us we will wait. Currently have an O booking that will likely not happen, a booking on a small ship line for late 2022 that we are still optimistic will happen and eyeing up a couple on other lines for 2023 but are passing on Vista. Will see what they offer for 2024.

Good luck to those who have placed their requests - here's hoping you wake to wonderful email from your Agent. The anticipation itself is worth placing the booking.

I clicked on a few of the Vista itineraries. They no longer list state rooms as waitlisted, everyone I reviewed had all cabin categories listed as available.

I noticed that same thing except the Maiden Voyage which still comes up as waitlisted for me.

BTW - won’t let you go beyond that point yet.

When I sort itineraries earliest to latest, the earliest itinerary I see is 14 April 2023. Is this not the maiden voyage? If not, how does one find the maiden voyage? It’s coming up available in all state room categories when I look. since I’m not going to book, I don’t click through farther.

Just curious (and clearly w too much free time on my hands!).

I thought that the Maiden Voyage was primarily going to be “ by invitation only”. That perhaps after they get all invites worked out over the next few months, Oceania might then open up whatever capacity is left.

I just accessed Oceania website and I could book the maiden voyage there, even choosing available staterooms.

Without starting a debate, no thank you. I was able to book the sailing I wanted and get the exact cabin I wanted in 5 minutes on my own. No lost sleep 🙂

I was surprised all categories were open and no website issues. I see they lowered the Olife credit to $300 though 😞

As I mentioned before, I don’t really think the “pent up demand” is there that some would like us to think. But that’s just me.
