UPDATE: just received this email. We get to keep all of our Star Class amenities, price is protected, and we received the $300 OBC. We are okay with this, even though we would have rather had a crown Loft Suite instead of the owner’s suite to which we were moved.

Dear Guest,

Last week, we shared that Wonder of the Seaswill take the place of Allure of the Seas and will complete its inaugural season out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida before moving to its European season in Barcelona, Spain and Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy. As a result of this change, we also advised that your reservation would automatically be moved to Wonder of the Seas and that you'd receive a like-for-like stateroom.

Unfortunately, due to a smaller number of available suites onboard Wonder of the Seas, we were unable to accommodate you in a like-for-like suite. Instead, your reservation has been moved to a Owner's Suite - 1 Bedroom, stateroom number 1864. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by this change. However, it's important to us that your overall experience onboard remains the same. So, the good news is that although your room has changed, we will be protecting your Royal Suite Class amenities and experience.

While we hope you're excited to sail with us in your new suite, we understand this change may not work for you. Below, please find some additional details, as well as your options.

Option 1: Remain booked on the corresponding Wonder of the Seas sailing

  • As a result of this change, we've moved your reservation to an alternate suite onboard Wonder of the Seas. Additionally, we're also providing you with a $300 USD Onboard Credit per reservation to use onboard.
  • While a stateroom in your original stateroom category is not available, all of your Royal Suite Class amenities and experience will remain the same.
    • You'll still have access to the same suite class experiences and amenities onboard Wonder of the Seas that were included with your original suite. For more information on your amenities, please click here.
  • Additionally, your original stateroom category price will either be protected at your original cruise fare rate or reduced to the current cruise fare rate (whichever is lower). This excludes taxes, fees, gratuities, and other non-cruise fare items.
    • If you were already paid in full and your cruise fare rate decreases, we'll provide you with a refund for any difference in pricing. You can expect to receive your refund to your original form of payment 30 days after we move you. Kindly note, refund times may vary depending on your financial institution.
  • An updated booking invoice reflecting your new stateroom details will be sent to you and your Travel Advisor via email.

Option 2: Select a 100% refund

  • If you no longer wish to sail, we'll be sad to see you go. We'll process a full refund of any paid portion of your cruise fare to the original form(s) of payment, including any non-refundable deposit. As a reminder, you'll have until October 20, 2021 to request a refund. If not, you will remain booked on Wonder of the Seas.
    • You can expect to receive your refund 30 business days after you submit your refund request.
  • If you booked your airfare through Royal Caribbean International, it will be automatically refunded to you. However, if you booked on your own, please contact the service provider directly for your options with them.
  • Lastly, if you used a Future Cruise Credit on this sailing, and you request a refund instead, we'll refund any NEW funds paid above the certificate amount, and we'll reinstate your original certificate.

Please note, this email serves as confirmation that your reservation has been moved, and there's no action necessary on your part if you decide to stay on this new sailing. Please note, there are a lot of moving parts when it comes to shifting an entire season of sailings and rebooking all guests, so please bear with us as we work to make this process as easy as possible for you. While moves are underway, we're still working on repricing all impacted reservations. We'll send an updated reservation confirmation with your revised details to the email address on file as soon as your reservation has been completely updated with the pricing fully adjusted. If you have any questions, please contact your Travel Advisor immediately or contact us at:

We can't wait to welcome you onboard Wonder of the Seas!

Sincerely,

Royal Caribbean International

Downgraded Star Class Owners Panoramic to 1bd Aquatheater Suite

saw this in my RC account along with 300 OBC

nothing from our warehouse TA yet

Even if RC promises to keep our Star Class amenities as seems to be suggested in the email above, still a big downgrade in suite size 1,100 down to 600, and losing very nice master bathroom.  But ATS balcony is bigger

we’re 90% likely to cancel so anyone waitlisting for a 1bd ATS on the 5-22 sailing hang on .  It takes many hours on hold to talk to a live person with our warehouse TA so it’ll be a few weeks before we are able to cancel

Wow, not even to two connecting JS? That’s so bad… we still haven’t heard about our April TA CLS reservation 😐 We are D+ as well.

I have spoken with my TA for our WOS April 20th TA and she hasn't gotten anything from RCCL on our rooms yet a few have. She spoke with her Rep a day or two. I hope we even have rooms. I keep seeing this 6 day Caribbean on the Planner

Also, the offer of providing Sky class to 27 JS cabins will cause a problem with the suite lounge, Coastal Kitchen and the new sun deck, which won't be able to handle almost doubling the number of Star and Sky suites.  The Coastal Kitchen and Suite Lounge are smaller than on the Allure.

Again, doesn't appear they've thought this through...

I don't think Royal will lose any sleep over this. Someone high up made the call to swap ships and everything else rolls downhill. The crew will end up being the ones to deal with the overcrowding on board, probably by telling guests that there is no room for them in the CL and SL and to go elsewhere, or concocting some sort of lottery, or handing out drink vouchers.

I'm starting to think that even if I did get to keep my CLS I might not want to be on this cruise after all. I was never excited about Wonder anyway. I am not going to waste time on the phone with Royal. I will make one call to cancel. Thanks to the others who tried to get a resolution and posted here.

Feel for you and were we in the same position would likely do the same. Good luck with making fresh plans.

We were very much looking forward to this TA. I have been to Barcelona and done a TA on an O Class ship but my wife has not done either of those things. We were originally supposed to be on the Allure TA last year, then we moved to Harmony for this year's TA when the 2020 cruise was canceled, but we decided it was still too risky travel-wise, so we jumped back to Allure for next year. Maybe someday 2023 or beyond.

In the meantime we only have one other cruise booked with Royal and I'm waiting for the shoe to drop on that one. They already canceled us for a charter and reluctantly honored the price on an alternate cruise of my choosing (not one of the options they had offered). But now there are whispers that the itinerary may be changing and it's not just Labadee getting cut out. We shall see.

August 11, 2022 sailing out of Rome

Junior suite moved from deck 10 on Allure to deck 6 on Wonder.
not unhappy with choice considering new ship

There are more junior suites on the Wonder than the Allure, I would call once the moves are complete and ask to be moved (or sooner), I'm sure there will be full suite passengers who were downgraded to JS who will opt to cancel.

Just got a call from Royal. We are downgraded from Crown Loft suite on the April TA to a Junior Suite on deck 14. We will keep the sky class card with the privileges, including wifi etc. Plus 300,- $ OBC. All full suites on the Wonder TA in April are full booked. It´s nice that they called and explained in person but she couldn´t offer more OBC or anything. We are pretty pi**** about that. So friends of us, booked a grand suite, for a lot less cash then us, they are transfered to a gs on Wonder and meanwhile we have to pay more to sail in a smaler cabin. That is actually not the first time that royal screwed us over with something like this. We still have some FCC wich we will us up next year, but then we are looking for a different cruise line and wanted to do more land base holiday anyway. We are D+ and I have status with the casino, but they have lost us as loyal customers over this for good. I´m done with it.

Hi. Same here we had booked a 2 bedroom grand suite now downgraded to a junior suite. I'm fuming. We booked the cruise for a family cruise. My mom and her 2 sisters. We are diamond plus my one aunty is diamond my other aunty has only sailed with Royal once. One booked an owners suite which she now has on Wonder. The other who has only sailed once with RC has her grand suite. Us as diamond plus members have been downgraded to a junior suite. We will be cancelling our cruise in the next couple of days. We phoned the diamond plus phone number last night asking how they reallocate the cabins couldn't give us an answer. She did say they would ring us back in a couple of days to let us know if a grand suite has become available. If not we are cancelling. The 3 suites were all booked the same evening this February.

On the whole the only people negatively impacted by this are some of the suite guests, most of whom are also in high loyalty tiers. And it seems that the best they will offer is $300 and some Sky Class perks while charging full freight for a JS. Nice going Royal. 🙄

Well, it doesn't seem like they have gotten around to moving any cabins other then suites...

Lets see if they manage to successfully relocate my connecting balcony cabins...

Including the Allure TA, we had 3 cruises booked - the Allure with a CLS, Symphony with a CLS and Ovation with a GLS (12 night).

Downgrading us from CLS to JS doesn't make any sense, since it appears they transferred less expensive suite reservations (OS, GS) from Allure to Wonder.

Offering $300 plus Sky class for a JS isn't close to making up for the inconvenience of the 3 suite class downgrade - especially if they insist we pay the same price as what the CLS we had booked.

What they should (and probably won't) do:

  • Reduce fare to the JS cost at the time the reservation was made - which was likely around 40% of the CLS fare
  • For reservations that were dropped from OS/CLS and above to JS, they should offer Star class - or at least Sky class plus unlimited dining and deluxe beverage - which would be more than what we would have had in our original CLS - recognizing the inconvenience caused by the multi-class downgrade
  • Create a waitlist for upgrades to full suites, based on a combination of the Allure suite class reserved and within that the C&A membership level

Even if they were able to move us from JS to GS, that's still a downgrade, and should:

  • Reduce fare to the GS cost at the time of reservation - likely around 75% of CLS
  • Since the suite already has Sky class, add unlimited dining OR the deluxe beverage package

For a 14 night cruise, offering a $300 credit - won't do much for at least 2 people in the suite - and is nowhere close to making up for the inconvenience of moving from the Suite neighborhood down to a JS.

Someone mentioned connecting JS.  I researched that - because they could create something close to an OS by connecting two JS together and replacing the bed with a dining table and chairs.  But the deck plans don't show any connecting JS...

For us, besides the extra space, we booked our CLS because we wanted a dining table where we could eat meals, use our laptops, and play board games (especially during the many sea days).  We're looking at options for packing a table in a suitcase and bringing it with us on the flight from the US to Barcelona, if we decide to go with the JS (or if they can get us into one of the 28 GS).

If Royal doesn't come up with a better resolution to this situation, if we cancel this cruise, we may reconsider our other two cruises we have booked (CLS on Symphony and 12 night cruise in GLS on Ovation)...

What's especially frustrating is that we booked these cruises while cruising was shut down and Royal was losing money with the risk they could go bankrupt if it took too long to get back to cruising.  Not only was it possible we'd never go on the cruise - we might not even get our deposits back.  Royal was giving pretty good deals on these cruises, to encourage people to book.  And with the way they are handling the Allure to Wonder transitions, it also looks like a money grab - by forcing us into lower class cabins without offering any discounts...  And if we cancel, they can sell the cabins to someone else at 2-3X what we were paying...

They've got several weeks to work through this situation before a final decision is needed on cancellation - so let's hope they reconsider the current strategy and come up with something that makes more sense and avoid alienating customers who've been willing to pay for the highest price cabins...

Most sailings OS's cost more then CLS's, not sure where you are getting your information on that.

For GS's, yes I agree with you CLS's are more expensive.

Allure Fall 2022 TA transferred to Wonder Fall 2022 TA

Owner's Suite 10640 to Owner's Suite 1832

It took a few days, but my Wonder balance on the RCI website now matches my previous Allure balance.  Just about had a heart attack when I saw the Wonder balance with no discounts.

I booked Allure within a few hours of it opening for booking.  I'm Emerald class.

I thought for sure they were going to downgrade us due to the loss of those higher category cabins and was surprised that they didn't.  As others have stated, it would appear that since Wonder has more Junior Suites available they simply moved most of those folks into the JSs.

My heart goes out to all of you who have been negatively impacted this way.

Oh, and I'm still waiting for notice that Allure was cancelled.

Where do you see the Wonder balance with no discounts? website or your own personal confirmation sheet. I booked through a cruise agency, so not really seeing anything on paper yet as to what the real prices are, mine was from a L&S.

Good question -- I've been thinking the same thing.  I believe my TA said they haven't yet produced the final invoices (waiting until all cabins have been finalized).  It will be interesting how they value the cabins with pricing.  The announcement said refunds will be processed if you paid more than the going rate.  However, I'm sure they'll price things so that minimal refunds will be granted.

For GS's, yes I agree with you CLS's are more expensive.

There's no way for me to get the fares posted in August 2020 for our sailing.  If there was a price difference, it wasn't very much anyway.

The website I was using to count cabins was incorrect.  I double checked the numbers with the actual deck plans for the two ships.

Allure has 88 full suites - 1 Royal Loft, 2 Panoramic, 2 Star Loft, 25 Crown Loft, 6 AquaTheater 2 bdrm, 6 AquaTheater 1 bdrm, 10 Owners, 6 Grand Suite 2 bedroom and 30 Grand.

Wonder has 60 full suites - 1 Royal Loft, 1 Family, 8 Crown Loft, 6 AquaTheater 2 bdrm, 6 AquaTheater 1 bdrm, 10 Owners and 28 Grand.

If Royal had transitioned based on cabin category (and C&A level within category ), they would have been able to transfer the 58 full suites above Grand on the Allure to the 60 full suites (including Grand), and then move any remaining Grand Suite reservations down to Junior.

While this would have impacted more reservations, it would have minimized the downgrades for each reservation.

Since they evidently decided to keep reservations as much as possible in their original category, and then shift everyone else downward (almost all to Junior Suite), they reduced the number of reservations impacted - but those impacts were much larger.

Because JS cabins are about 1/2 the size of CLS/OS, Royal should take that into consideration by providing more amenities than those customers would have had in their original cabins.

Providing Sky Class plus a $300 onboard credit (which is only $10.71 per person per day on the TA cruise) won't be enough to make up for the much smaller cabin.

Plus, the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen are smaller on the Wonder, which is OK for 60 full suites - but will be overcrowded by adding up to 28 JS with Sky access.

To reduce crowding in the Coastal Kitchen, the downgraded reservations should get the full dining package, making it easier for them to go to specialty restaurants - and not pack the Coastal Kitchen.

Since many of these passengers are likely Diamond and above, they could also add the Deluxe Beverage package at little net cost to Royal.

They could also consider adding a few extra genies or concierge staff allocated to these displaced passengers - to add capacity beyond what would they would normally have in the suite lounge.

Or even better they could add a few genies and provide Star class amenities.  And based on our recent Star class cruise, getting pampered by the genie could more than make up for the much smaller cabins.

Unfortunately, while Royal could and should do more - based on what I've seen so far, what's more likely is they'll expect us to take it or leave it on their current offer of  $300+Sky - and if we don't go on the cruise, they can rebook the cabins for more $$$.

We've got a few weeks to see if they'll come up with something better before they force us to make a decision - still hoping things will improve and because they didn't appear to anticipate these problems, with more time, they'll do something more reasonable...

If downgraded, you should pay the lower of the current rate - and the rate you would have paid when the original reservation was booked.

We booked a CLS in August 2020, at prices lower than what we would pay today.  If they keep us in the JS they are currently proposing, we should pay no more than the JS rate in August 2020 - not the current rate, which will be higher.

Otherwise, they'll have passengers in another JS paying less because they booked the suite in the first place - while those who had planned to spend more on a larger cabin and were forced to downgrade end up paying more.  Which wouldn't be fair...

But based on what they are doing to the displaced CLS passengers, it may be unreasonable to expect them to be fair on the rates they'll be charging...
