I’ve seen so many people go into absolute panic over things that never materialize on this board. Last one people were getting bent over is QR codes and what if they had no menus. Laminator Posted November 5, 2021 #34 Share Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) The machines are being installed on the Rotterdam VII as we speak. They may be ready for play on tomorrows cruise. Edited November 5, 2021 by Laminator
NCTribeFan Posted November 5, 2021 #35 Share Posted November 5, 2021 What do people look at when they sit down at the slot machine? 😜 There's (usually) a volume control, usually on the bottom left of the screen. Typically has 3-4 bars. Looks a bit like the phone signal indicator on my Samsung phone. Of course, even if you turn the volume down, once someone leaves and it's inactive for a little while, it automatically resets to AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE. And, even turning it all the way down, if you hit a bonus, it blasts that noise at top volume. Of course, they want everyone to know what a BIG WINNER YOU ARE! I've also pointed out the little "no smoking" sign (you know, the cig in the center of a red circle with a diagonal line through it?) so many times and had people say, "oh, I never saw that." Maybe with all the casino offers that are out there they just don't have enough machines to go around and they're anticipating needing these as capacity increases.

I know, they made a library in the Rotterdam, a dedicated space with doors and everything. That was entirely due to customer demand. I think customers can also get the slot machines back into the Casino where they belong.

farjar Posted November 5, 2021 #40 Share Posted November 5, 2021 Got off the Koningsdam on Oct. 31. Played the 5 poker machines near the Ocean Bar on several occasions. Never was very crowded possibly because our cruise was only 1/2 full. Preferred the quiet atmosphere there over the noise of the main casino where they have 8 poker machines. Sat next to a woman who was playing $2 10 at a time ($20 per bet) compared to my $.25 per bet. She had it up over $1000 then later I saw her putting in more money. Did see a man win $600 on poker and a women betting $.75 on a reel machine win over $1200. First time I've gambled on a HAL ship. Interesting they let you charge your gambling to your room bill. Probably encourages people to gamble more than having to insert cash. I was happy to have an alternative location to leisurely gamble.
NCTribeFan Posted November 5, 2021 #41 Share Posted November 5, 2021 Carnival doesn't have slots anywhere but in the casino, including on their brand new Mardi Gras. Don't blame Carnival Corp for everything. These are still individual companies with CCL as the parent. Any word of this happening on Princess? P&O? Aida? Cunard? Any of the other lines under that corporate umbrella? Don't think so. Maybe if this "experiment" pulls in enough money. Guess we'll see.

The Ocean Bar was the best spot after some consideration of other places. 2

prescottbob Posted November 6, 2021 #45 Share Posted November 6, 2021 We tend to have breakfast on the longer Cruises , with several sea days, in the MDR. I think a Keno option (runners, a place for cards and small pencils on the table by the salt and pepper grinders & an electronic number board tastefully placed overhead) would be a ‘gas’. Certainly such an activity would not be allowed during ‘afternoon high tea’ / wine tasting events/ Mariner brunches or Gala nights or regular dinners (unless the odds were considerably improved, of course). Bar top electronic card games in the Crow’s Nest and other bar venues, is certainly not out of the question. JMHO. Viva Las Vegas!😀 Be well. NCTribeFan Posted November 6, 2021 #47 Share Posted November 6, 2021 NCL (at least the Star, which is the only ship I've sailed) has tabletop machines at the casino bar. That makes sense, to me. HAL could put them at the bars nearest the casino, so it's more of an extension of the casino - on Vista and Signature class ships at least. I would think that the CCL shareholders out there wouldn't be so against a means of raising revenue.

They have the machines on Rotterdam, too? I don't remember reading that in the "Live" review. I know Sansterre mentioned "Live" music was back in Ocean Bar on Rotterdam which I was hoping would return fleet-wide. Vista Class and Signature Class desperately need Music back in their OB's!
