How’s your back? When you put your wallet with all those bills in your pocket, it must be like sitting on a brick.

Really?

You really think people carry that much cash is in a wallet??

And who puts there wallet in the back pocket when traveling or ever??

@crazyank - well that was "delightfully" rude.

I am thrilled that some of you have had no problem getting as much change as you want.

I am not fabricating my MULTIPLE experiences of being told "no" to a request for 20 one dollar bills in exchange for a $20.  I am not fabricating that I have been told that it is "the rule" from "my supervisor" that "I can only give you ten."

I have said, "but I would like to use those one dollar bills for tips", but the answer has still been, "I can only give you ten."

Dopp kit or laptop bag. Neither leave my person (ok screening belt) when boarding. Why stuff your wallet?

Please state where you got the info about being "under orders" not to give small bills.  We've never experienced anything of this sort.  Maybe the "borderline nasty" is a result of your attitude?

On several occasions when attempting to change large denominations into smaller ones the cashier's have told me that there is a mandated limit that they can exchange. This has happened at Guest Services as well.

I would think that with 5600 people aboard an O class ship that cash draw could end up short of dollar bills.

I always had the idea in my head that the small bills on board had a circle of life. Passengers exchanging large for small for tips and staff exchanging those small ones for the larger ones once again.

More efficient is to skip the atm and just withdraw the amount you want, in the denominations you want from the teller. Going to the atm is just a wasted extra step.

My bank knows me. When I ask for 100 ones, they ask what cruise I'm going on.🤣

So my bank only gives out $20s in their ATMs, and I am wondering if I can break those $20s into $5s, $1s etc. for tipping purposes. Can I do this onboard? Thanks

The casino will do it.

You should probably get that taken care of before you arrive.

I have had issues with getting smaller bills on ships in the past.

Personally I bring $200 in singles, then  $200 in 5 & 10's.

We just got off our 39th cruise earlier this week and I have never had a problem even once getting smaller bills from guest services on any cruise.

But which die first, the large denomination or small?
