Sadly, Jose is declining quickly and his prognosis is unknown 😢 He is in the hands of an Internal specialist and infection specialist to try to solve the mystery that has baffled so many. I am praying they can find the answer but I don’t know how many more tests they can do. They have done so many. 😔 I am so sorry to hear this. Continuing prayers for you and Jose. AncientWanderer Posted December 11, 2021 #82 Share Posted December 11, 2021 I am also praying very hard that God guides Jose's physicians. Diagnosis is sometimes the most challenging part of illness and care. 12

St. Louis Sal Posted December 11, 2021 #89 Share Posted December 11, 2021 Good evening all! It has been a busy week so I have mostly read, not posted (although who knows, I might not have been able to post anything anyway). Mountains are my passion, love the places with mountains AND beaches. We frequently donate dog and cat food to our local shelters plus I also give dog/cat food to our food pantry for their care closet. Bagels are okay; fond of Panera Cinnamon Crunch Bagels bread-sliced (apparently a St Louis thing). Bring on the drink, the wine and a nice prime rib!! Sadly haven’t been to Brazil, appreciating the photos & videos. Last night was crazy. DD’s and I had gone to the movies to see “West Side Story”. About 45 minutes in cell phones began going off with a tornado warning. The movie was paused and employees went around alerting patrons to move to a safe area. I had transferred from my travel wheelchair to a theatre recliner. So up I got and carefully transferred back to my wheelchair. DD’s helped and several other patrons also offered (much appreciated). We stayed in the safe area for an hour until the all clear was sounded. Nothing came close to us, but there were tornados west, north and to the east of us (including Edwardsville IL where the Amazon warehouse partially collapsed). We eventually got to go back in and finish the movie (plus they issued free tickets as a thank you for our cooperation. 🙂) I was amazed to see in the news this morning all the devastation 😢. Offering prayers 🙏 for all those in need on our care list ( @kazuespecially praying for you and Jose). And thanks to all on our celebration list for allowing us to join with you vicariously 🍷 Take care all, St Louis Sal P.S. I loved this “West Side Story” remake, some wonderful singers and dancers, great performance by Rita Moreno. Definitely one of the rare times where a stage musical made a great transition to the screen and is the equal or better of the 1961 movie. 16
Rare rafinmd Posted December 11, 2021 #90 Share Posted December 11, 2021 As others have noted Parintins is notable for it's Boi Bumba festival. I'll just add a couple of sidelights about stopping there. It is quite a challenging tender stop with a large pier that does not fit HAL tenders. My first time, in 2013, we used our tenders but did not pull up to the dock. Instead HAL chartered a local river boat and we left the tender for the river boat, climbed up to an upper deck, and went from there onto the dock. There is also a lot of debris in the river and tenders have some times been damaged, In 2019 we left the tenders on the ship and chartered several river boats to take us to the pier. It's also a step, rough climb up the ramp to the shore and there were Sea Scouts on the pier giving directions and assistance. All ages seemed to be combined in the same unit: Just watching the news on the awful effect of the tornadoes. Roy 17

Rare erewhon Posted December 12, 2021 #96 Share Posted December 12, 2021 Thank you for the daily reports, recipes and I appreciate the photos of the port, which is another we have not visited. @Heartgrove thank you for sharing photos of the Gingerbread houses. @kazu so very sorry that Jose has not improved, hopefully the two specialists are consulting others in their specialities, and will soon solve the problem.. Sending you big cyber hugs. It's a sunny Sunday, but some high cloud, temperature 15 C. Stay safe, take care everyone. 12

Rare kazu Posted December 12, 2021 #98 Share Posted December 12, 2021 Thank you everyone for your kindness & caring ♥️ It is really appreciated. more tests tomorrow - MRI’s, lumbar punctures, etc. The doctors are not leaving no stone unturned. At least, the stones that they think can give them a clue. I am very grateful for your caring and my neighbours’ kindness. I had a drive to the hospital today as I didn’t feel I should drive and took a cab back (gulp - $$). I have no family here so I am blessed to have kind, caring neighbours as well as my Daily family. ♥️ 17
