We did a ship tour to an estate/manor called Lanhydrock House. Our ship at anchor Countryside along the way Lanhydrock House Some of the gardens (complete with gardeners) 😱🤣 After the house, we went on to the village of Fowey where we did try the Cornish pasty 😋 An interesting thatched roof inn along the way back to the ship Love the manor house, and especially the gardens! (I sound like a broken record on the gardens - always my favorite). But what a hoot to find a dandelion in that manicured environment!🤣 14
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted December 20, 2021 #53 Share Posted December 20, 2021 Good morning from sunny, cool Quartzsite. I also could not login on Chrome. Sandi, @StLouisCruisers, thanks for the tip to switch to Edge. Fingers crossed that it continues working. 🤞 Celebrating the "baby steps" Jose is beginning to take on the road to recovery. Sending positive thoughts to both Jose and Jacqui, @kazu. Interesting collection of days. I haven't been caroling since high school when our church youth group would go caroling to the shut ins, including my mother. The James Brown quote made me chuckle. The recipe sounds good and will give it a try sometime. The drink and the wine also sound nice. We were supposed to be in Falmouth on July 7, 2022, and planned to go to Lands End, the southern most point in the UK since we've been to Dunnet Head, the northern most point. However, Princess had other ideas and cancelled the cruise last month. @StLouisCruisers, Sandi, and @kb4683, thank you for the pictures. @richwmn Rich, glad you failed the test and can go on your cruise. Safe travels and Bon Voyage. 🍾 @1ANGELCAT Hope your appointment goes well. @Heartgrove Hope you feel better soon. @mamaofami Carol, sorry to learn two of you grandsons were exposed to Covid. Hope they do not get it. @StLouisCruisers Sandi, I hope your niece's DH's surgery goes well, and that the chemo and radiation take care of the cancer. I also hope he has quit smoking. @smitty34877 Terry, I'm sorry the news for Tana was guarded at best. I hope she can get the care she needs both physically and mentally. @*Miss G* Hoe you can get the covid test. Safe travels. @aliaschief Bruce, our condolences on your sister's death on her birthday. Glad you got to tell her goodbye and have such great memories to comfort you. @highland cruiser Enjoy your family Christmas and celebrating your DH's birthday tomorrow. Today, will be another busy day. I will be making the Christmas candy, using my mother's recipe. This is one thing I make for me, but will share it with the family. I also need to get the cookies ready to give to the neighbors and to mail to younger DD and SO. Lenda 22
1ANGELCAT Posted December 20, 2021 #54 Share Posted December 20, 2021 Back from the orthopedic appointment, now have a new splint for 4-6 weeks. Break is right at the base of the finger, against the palm. Go back for follow up with them on January 31st . Splint is longer on my palm. Not comfortable. Can remove to bathe. I hope everyone has a better day. ❤️ 15
StLouisCruisers Posted December 20, 2021 #55 Share Posted December 20, 2021 Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiseryou're quite welcome on the Edge tip! Also thanks for the nice thoughts on Amy's DH's surgery. At this point I would think smoking is a no no! I can't imagine the surgeon would allow his patient to still smoke. @1ANGELCATglad that appointment is over and the splint applied. Four to 6 weeks will be a "pain" but I know you want it healed properly. Take care!
sailingdutchy Posted December 20, 2021 #56 Share Posted December 20, 2021 We went ashore in Falmouth, Cornwall, England when we were on one of the very last Prinsendam cruises on May 8th of 2019 and had a wonderful tour with our friend Andrea so I hope to show a few beautiful pictures when we went with our small group to Lands End , the most westerly point of England . She was unresponsive. I started this post awhile back but was just notified she died at 8:46 this morning. It was her birthday. It was a blessing! We all will loose loved ones but the wonderful memories are forever. I am very sorry to hear of your loss. It reminded me of the time we said goodbye to my Uncle. While he was still able we had a huge party for him. Close friends and family came from all over. We had limos so no one had to drive. It was truly a memorable occasion and we were so fortunate to have been able to share that with him before he became unresponsive. He passed not long after. I know that your heart is hurting but it is only hurting because of all the love you shared, and that is a blessing. I send my warmest thoughts and hope that the knowledge that others care helps you through. 2 hours ago, richwmn said: Step 1 done, just received my negative on the Covid-19 test. Leaving for the airport in about 20 minutes! Wow, exciting! Have a wonderful time! CC is giving me trouble today so I am hoping this gets through. The Cornish pasties remind me of the time my sister and I did a trip to Cornwall (Polperro) and I bought a pasty for the drive back to my Aunt’s house. A few days later we left on a tour of Italy. Three weeks pass and we are back at my Aunt’s house, packing for the journey home. I picked up a bag saying “I wonder what’s in here?” and there was my Cornish pasty. As you can imagine it was beyond the beyond. *shudder* I was never again able to see a Cornish pasty without thinking of it wearing a blue-green sweater. 😂 19 1

Rare Vict0riann Posted December 20, 2021 #61 Share Posted December 20, 2021 I was going to say "Poldark", too, @sailingdutchy! Lovely pictures We have explored Cornwall, too, a few times, I don't have pictures on my computer, visits were a long time ago! I would definitely go for a Cornish pasty... Good morning, Dailyites! Thank you to Rich, Roy and everyone who posts, Bon Voyage. Rich, @richwmn, @*Miss G*, were you aware the rules have changed for entering Canada? Check your ArriveCan app. I'd hate for you to get stuck at the border... @aliaschief, so sorry about your sister. I don't have siblings, but have lost a few cousins, and it really brings it home that we are now the "older generation".... @mamaofami, sorry to hear your DGS's may have been exposed to Covid. And Omicron seems to be much more transmissible, if that is what they were exposed to. We have worries for our DD as she has asthma, and hasn't had a booster yet. I do wish the province would hurry up and do everyone, and get some home tests in. We have nothing! I am considering cancelling Christmas, to protect her from our company. Hopeful news from Jacqui, @kazu, yesterday. Praying hard for continuing improvement for Jose. And for everyone on the Care List. @1ANGELCAT, that sounds like an uncomfortable splint. When I broke my wrist on our Antarctic trip, the ship's doctor fixed me up with a bit of metal molded to my wrist wrapped up with a stretchy bandage which I could take off to shower. It was very uncomfortable, but at least allowed my wrist to swell without any pressure. I wore it for 3 weeks and when we got back to Canada they put me in a cast for another five weeks. No plans for today. I have to decide whether to try to get my hair cut this week or possibly wait until February. I think we will be shutting down very soon. 20

Cruising-along Posted December 20, 2021 #63 Share Posted December 20, 2021 Good morning all! It's a frosty 31F here this morning, feeling like Christmas! Last night we went to a drive-thru Christmas lights display (over a million lights) with DD, DSIL and the grandsons. It was amazing, apparently the largest in the PNW. It was a lot of fun. DH and I took post-travel Covid tests yesterday (I've had mild cold symptoms, and just to make sure we didn't pick up anything when traveling). Happy to say we both failed our tests. 😄 @aliaschief condolences on the loss of your sister. @richwmnsafe travels and Bon Voyage! @1ANGELCATI know what a pain (pun intended) it is to have a broken finger. I also broke my little finger 5 or 6 years ago. Mine was a very bad break, so surgery and a cast up to my elbow for 6 weeks was required. At least mine didn't happen just before Christmas -- I'm so sorry!! Here are a few photos from last night. We were very lucky to have a clear, dry night -- unlike the day before!

I did check the usual sites and don’t see where anything has changed for my circumstances. Is there something I am missing? Actually, I don't know - we went to the States for about 50 hours and should have been home free, but keep getting emails from the government telling us to quarantine, test, etc., then when we call the 800 number they say just ignore., However, now they are saying that whatever the timing they will require molecular (PCR) testing - is the test you have the right one? There also may be quarantine or isolation required, I'm not sure if that is still random or if everyone is going to have to do it. We felt the border officer was not really sure of what all the rules were himself. When you put your info into the ArriveCan app to get your "QR receipt", be sure you scroll all the way down on the email, we didn't read it all, considering that the QR code was all we needed, and there was additional information below. 11
