Well, here’s hoping

Some will know that due to failing health I think my cruising days are over.

But.  …….

After looking at some new wheelchairs with improved suspension.

I have just put a hold on a cruise.

It’s not till March 2024, so time for some medical miracles, or the option to cancel.

I really hope one of the new wheelchairs works for you so you can cruise again.

Thank you. The big problems are…

‘’I won’t know if it works or not till I try it

Now I keep having mini strokes (caused by my neck being to use the term the specialist used “cactus”) there is a second set of issues. But driving any distance is murder, (indeed I haven’t driven a car in nearly a year, and gave my car to the kids) and flying is out, Mrs Gut really deserves a holiday of some sort.

The Royal Princess?

Yeah, one of the things I need to give a lot of thought to, plus two ports are Tender, so if we end up going it may be basically a stay on the ship trip. Tendering and wheelchairs don’t mix too well.

That wouldn't actually be too bad though as you could enjoy parts of the ships that are normally crowded while everyone else is ashore.

Yeah we’ve done similar before, it’d be a nice week getting waited on, as long as the spine and head hold up.

Thank you, at least it is something to aim for and dream about for the next couple of years. As I said it may even turn into a one port cruise, the other two are tender ports (though Princess now lists them as Watershuttle) and not always wheelchair friendly.

Best of luck Gut and the Majestic had a great area for wheelchairs in the theatre so I would assume that her sister ship the Royal would as well.

If the kids can't drive you to the port you could always check out one of the chauffeur car companies offering a front door to ship service. 🙂

Fingers crossed for you mate 🤞

An alternate option for you might be the Celebrity Edge when it comes to Oz . The “ elevator” platform is designed to enable  wheelchair guests to access the tenders , depending on the itinerary ( for you) I guess.

Interesting option, just with Celebrity the check in staff just don’t measure up, or they make you buy them lunch at the buffet or stuff.

Good luck to you. I quite like staying on board when in ports I have already been to and quite enjoy the serenity, yes a pun, of having the place to myself. Cheers, Buzz.

Thanks, we don’t mind ship days either, though if we do the cruise Kangaroo Island would be nice.

The way it is going “those” check in staff may be well and truly retired by the time the ships return.
PS. I  rarely did actual check in the last year or  so, so it would be easy to “avoid “ me if that’s what you want………but I am sure Mrs Gut would think differently. 🤔🤔😂😂

Yeah mate we all might be retired by the time cruising returns the way it’s going, even the grandkids.

Well here's hoping that the wheelchair option works for you Gut, it would be awesome if you could cruise again!

I’ve been cruising with a wheelchair for years but as I deteriorate the micro vibrations from the ship leave me in agony and with the latest developments pinching my arteries to the brain triggers mini strokes, so the big issue is getting good enough suspension to counteract those vibrations.
