Rare DCPIV Posted March 14, 2022 #52 Share Posted March 14, 2022 I didn't know this extravaganza existed, either, but we'll be sure to give it a look next time. (Remember when we were talking about the extravaganza?) 1

patty1955 Posted March 15, 2022 #55 Share Posted March 15, 2022 I'm not a fan of buffets but Celebrity does a good job. I've had some amazing food in the OVC and some so-so food. I'll going to look for the Extravaganza on our next Celebrity cruise.

mfs2k Posted March 15, 2022 #58 Share Posted March 15, 2022 (edited) I hope it’s a grilled Boar’s Head natural skin, beef hot dog. The best. Edited March 15, 2022 by mfs2k

Rare graphicguy Posted March 15, 2022 #60 Share Posted March 15, 2022 I had seen the TOMAHAWK steaks, but didn’t order one, as I know I just wouldn’t have eaten ½ of it. Mentioned before, I did like the ribeyes, even though they were a little on the “skinny” side. GF got one of the strips. She liked it. She said she said it wasn’t “prime” steak, but was cooked well. Not sure if it’s last day, but we’ve seen seafood as well as deserts presented similarly throughout the cruise. Bottom line, Celebrity has a good buffet….probably better than some MDRs on other cruise lines.

That is what I typically buy (my mother would be aghast if she knew I was buying Bush) but for the last few months my instacart shoppers have been substituting B&M with Bush, dang that supply chain! 1
Bo1953 Posted March 15, 2022 #62 Share Posted March 15, 2022 Then I need to ask the F&B Manager to be sure that there are a few vegan items on this buffet... and of course they will do it and I will forget the day!!! rockraiders Posted March 15, 2022 #65 Share Posted March 15, 2022 Does anyone know if the staff is still serving on the Apex. I don’t eat at the buffet but might try something if staff is serving. I can’t deal with communal tongs especially if they are lying in the food.

Don't forget the sauerkraut w/ caraway seeds. Crown Vic Posted March 15, 2022 #70 Share Posted March 15, 2022 Didn’t the B&M Factory, in Portland, Maine, close not too long ago? BTW, baked beans on toast...aah...a British gourmet treat...at least for some of us. Bon appetit!
talljules1 Posted March 15, 2022 #71 Share Posted March 15, 2022 I think we've only ever had one true buffet extravaganza, which was in the main dining room on the last sea day on our first ever cruise - on the Infinity. That said, we have seen the extra effort they now go to in the Oceanview on the last sea day, and it is good. Paul prefers the restaurants, but I have a secret love of the Oceanview. The food is good. I particularly like it for breakfast, but it's great for lunch too. (Paul prefers Sushi on 5 for lunch, and he has a point). Been around since 1869. Good tip on the sauerkraut.

Ozzmund Posted March 16, 2022 #74 Share Posted March 16, 2022 Appreciate all of the buffet comments. We usually avoid the buffet, not for the quality of the food , but for the slovenly behavior of some of the “patrons”. Should Celebrity continue with the staff serving at the buffet, we may give it a try on our September Mediterranean Cruises.
