First Time Suite Questions

Hi everyone,

So sorry if these questions have been answered before, but I couldn’t seem to find the answers using the search.  Thank you in advance for any answers.

Our Move Up offer was accepted, we are now in a Celebrity Suite for our cruise on Monday.  My first question has to do with amenities.  I understand that I don’t get some amenities, but I’m not entirely sure what amenities I don’t get.  I just don’t want to be expecting something and then not get it.  I also assume that since I previously paid for the premium drink package, I don’t lose that?

My next question has to do with check in time.  Our original check in time was 11:30.  Can we now check in earlier, or do we need to stay with the 11:30 time?  Either way is fine, just would like some clarification.

My other questions have to do with Luminae.  From what I have read, I don’t need reservations to eat there.  This might be a weird question but is there a time when we shouldn’t go because we will have to wait to be seated?  We usually eat around 6:00.

Last question would be dress code for Luminae.  Obviously, we are not going to go there in a t-shirt and shorts, but would a polo shirt or dress shirt and khakis for my husband acceptable?

Suites can board at any time, but I wouldn't count on being able to embark much earlier than your assigned time. Embarkation can't start until the ship is cleared of all previous pax. You will have all the perks that normally go with a suite.

As noted above - you get the perks that go with the suite.  So you still get access to Luminae, Retreat lounge, retreat deck (if your ship has one).  Luminae - pitch up when you like.  Polo/dress shirt and khakis for your husband will be fine - that's what I tend to wear.

You should keep the drinks package you have paid for.

Celebrity suites don't get the unlimited specialty dining, in room bar set up, welcome bottle of champagne (you get fizzy wine) or unlimited laundry that those in royal and penthouses get.

You get the same number of captains club points per night as you would have got for your original booking.

Not sure there will be much option to embark anyway before 11.30am.  As others have said - you can board when you like once boarding has opened.

Dress Code for Luminae every night is smart casual, ,  Evening Chic does not apply in Luminae although some will be dressed up.    Polo shirt and Khakis are fine, the only thing frowned upon for dinner is shorts.

11:30 is the earliest time, no problem eating at 6. Polo shirt and khakis are fine, love Luminae normally they have lobster roll only for embarkation lunch. No reservations for Luminae. Be prepared to be spoiled, suites are the only way to travel ( if in budget)

Just to clarify, you will get the CS amenities mentioned above, but you won't get the Retreat "perks" (i.e., the OBC, premium wifi, and premium drink package) included.  I want to clarify that because those are the terms that get kicked around Celebrity.  "Amenities" go with the room, and "perks" go with the booking.  Of course, you've paid for the upgraded drink package, so you're good to go there.

Since you are in a CS, you might get a call or email (or both) from a shoreside concierge about two weeks before embarkation.  I say "might" because I don't recall if CS gets that or if it starts with RS.  If you are contacted, though, you can ask when they expect the terminal to be open for arrivals.  Since you are in the Retreat, you can go in as soon as it opens.  Since ships have been sailing with reduced numbers, they've been ready a little sooner than normal.  Of course, that seems to be coming to an end.  It's still worth asking if it makes a difference to you.

For example, we were advised on our last cruise that they expected to have the terminal open and ready for arrivals around 10:30.  This was Fort Lauderdale.  We didn't get there until around 10:50, but we could go right on in, get all the paperwork done, and board as soon as we got there.  Others were waiting outside.

We are in a CS and putting in a Move up bid for a Royal.  Right before submitting you have to check mark that you acknowledge that you will receive no additional amenities as a result of the upgrade...  Do you think that Celebrity is confused itself and actually means perks here?  It's not the worth the upgrade if we don't get all the extras that a RS gets.

You  definitely get the room amenities -  Bar Setup, Unlimited Specialty Dining and Laundry.    They sure could use some proof readers.

Thanks Jim!  You've answered so many of my questions through the years, I hope to meet you sometime!  I think we were going to be on the same Iceland/Greenland cruise in August this year, but we had to move ours to Aug, 2023.  Our son decided to get married and ruined our plans - haha!

I emailed and got a response from the Celebrity Moveup Team.  She said the "promotional" amenities (bev pkg, wifi, etc) wouldn't change, but that you would receive the additional "onboard" amenities for the new category if your offer is accepted.  We are in a CS and she said that yes, if our moveup bid is accepted, we would receive the complimentary dining, laundry, etc. that the RS receives.  I'm keeping her email forever!  haha

I've worn nice shorts, as I don't mind the frowns

Hi George!  Hope you both are well! We are going back on board the Edge on 4/3 🙂  I tried a move-up for PH but only the min amount - those probably never get picked - I figured what the heck!

Going from a CS to a RS, I can't think of any amenities that would be missing.

The CS has everything else already.

Maybe additional points? But that is about it.

There’s a big difference in the CS and RS with regards to amenities. The 3 things Jim mentioned are not included with a CS. And you don’t get more points if you do a move up. You only get the points of the original stateroom.

Points for an RS and a CS are the same at 12 per night. you don't get to 18 until you're in a PH

I was rather disappointed that I did evening chic and the menu was not good.  We booked Murano for the evening chic.  Disappointing to dress up for the occasion and the menu was sub par.

Congrats on your Move up.

We just got off the Equinox in a Sky Suite that we received from a Move up offer. So thankful for the opportunity.

Our original show time was 11:30. We arrived at about 10:50. After a very quick check in we were brought to a Retreat Lounge. At 11:05 we were brought on board. We dropped our bees in our stateroom and headed to Luminae for lunch.

Never encountered a wait at Luminae however, the ship was at BOUT 50% capacity with some suites still unoccupied.

It was a great experience.

Dress was mixed. Mostly dress shirts or polos with pants. Did see shorts once for dinner. Some people dressed up a bit for chic nights. Saw a handful of tuxes on the ship but none in Luminae.

The Retreat Concierges were amazing. Even escorted us off the ship through a back door in the Retreat lounge.

I didn't say that there wasn't a difference, what I meant was I can't think of anything that would be missing on the upgrade.

You get the alcohol, unlimited dining and launderary (2 per cruise) as a benefit of the larger suite - but nothing else should be missing.

Regular menu every night.

Apart from breakfast, we rarely eat in there.
