Good morning everyone. I love trees, especially those I can see from my patio. Our friends love to visit because our view is so pretty. Our weather is for strong storms, wind and a possible tornado this afternoon. Not a good forecast.

I'm off to a few more PT sessions and I'll be done in a few weeks. Prayers for all those on our lists.Stay safe everyone,

Carol

Good morning friends!  It's a warm morning here and humid.  We went for a walk outside, and took the golf cart path back home.  I'm finding I like the winter walks better than the summer ones, just like cruises.  Thank you Rich for the Daily.  Interesting days today.  I love a tree any day but especially today I guess.  I'm not sure what I think about sea monkeys.  And I will happily change into purple to help the peace cause.  I always liked Charles Schulz.  Calzone rolls sound very good.  And Dubrovnik is a beautiful place to visit.  We had that port listed here on Aug. 23, 2021.

Thank you Roy for the Care and Celebration lists.  You did a very fine job of it today.  Prayers said for all listed and for peace in Ukraine.  @Heartgroveit's nice to hear your older sister got to attend the bridal shower for the niece.  I hope she is hanging in there for that wedding!  And that you get to visit her very soon.  Happy anniversary to Bruce and Sue @aliaschief.   Ann @marshhawkit didn't rain here last night!  I didn't even hear about the lunar eclipse, but my friend in Arizona sent me a photo of it from her perspective.  I did see the huge moon low on the horizon when we left for our walk about 6:25 am today.  It was beautiful!

Dubrovnik, Croatia is a beautiful port and a great one on any cruise of the Adriatic Sea.  We were there in 2012 on Crown Princess and in 2017 on the Westerdam.  The first time we met a young couple who were both dentists in the Army.  They went on a tour I set up in Naples and we hung out a lot in the ports of call on that cruise.  In Dubrovnik we took a cab from the ship to the Old City and walked the city walls together.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKK1tbDRq4aPfh1rw9ciao6?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1356371108

I saw that I also posted the following on Aug. 23, 2021.

I pulled out a photo of us with our young Army dentists Abby and Jesse taken the same evening after visiting Dubrovnik.  We are both about 5 1/2 feet tall and obviously they are both about 6 feet tall.  Either that or wearing very high heels.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVJXhv1VytwyhFOyNC25oBMN?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1629725560

With Dubrovnik today's port, I have a question for our Daily-ites about Croatia:

Dubrovnik and Split were on our Bucket List. But DH's stroke and diminished health has changed that to my Bucket List. We were blessed to travel by land and by sea to many places before those places were overrun but we did not make it to Croatia.  My concern and question is:

Have I missed my opportunity to enjoy Dubrovnik, Split, and other parts of Croatia due to tourist overcrowding?

Thanks, in advance, for your thoughts and suggestions,

-Melisa

Good Morning, all!

Thanks for The Daily and all who contribute.  Cheers to those celebrating and healing thoughts to those on the care list.

Following is what I posted on 8/23/2021 of our times spent in Dubrovnik.

Kay

We have been fortunate enough to call at Dubrovnik three times.

The first time was 11/22/2011, on Celebrity Solstice.  The day started out beautiful and we walked the walls

DSC01080.thumb.jpg.1ef6d16e87024b30bcbd69dad7801d58.jpg

Then it started to rain so we ducked into d'Vino Wine Bar

There were 4 of us!!

We stayed so long, the owner ran across the way and brought us back something to eat!

Second time was 11/8/2015, onboard Island Princess.  The sail in was beautiful.

We saw some newlyweds leaving church

Loved their shoes!

Back to d'Vino (no wine flights this time)

Sailing out was also beautiful

The last time was 11/26/2017, on Pacific Princess.  We just walked around -- don't think we hit d'Vino this time (at least there are no pictures).

They are busy when cruise ships arrive but if you stayed for a few or several days and toured around Croatia and nearby Montenegro are lovely and peaceful.

Good morning, thanks for the Daily!  We love trees and can't imagine not having them surrounding our yard.  Although they give us privacy, they also give us work in the fall.  I remember sending my 25 cents away to get a package of sea monkeys.  They turned out to be the ugliest little critters and in no way resembled monkeys.  I'm pretty sure my mom poured them out in the garden once the water turned murky.   Didn't know it was wear purple for peace day - will have to check my wardrobe.    We were in Dubrovnik on the Prinsendam on our first Mediterranean cruise and  were the only ship in town - it was lovely!

Last night we walked to the park at the end of our block to see the lunar eclipse.  We only stayed for about an hour, but it was interesting to see the colour of the moon.   It was neat while we were there though, as many neighbours also came out to see the eclipse, so we were able to get some visiting in as well.

Not a lot on the agenda today, although the guy is supposed to come to fix our leaky deck roof.  Hopefully this time is the last time he'll have to repair it - thankfully he says it's warranty work so we won't be charged.

@aliaschiefHappy 30th Anniversary to you and Sue; let the love and laughter continue!

@msmayorI'm glad to hear you're taking some time for yourself - you've been burning the candle at both ends.  It's also great to hear your DD is getting better and is enjoying motherhood to baby Luna.

I like today's menu suggestion, and @dfishI have to thank you for providing the alternatives you do every day.  It's nice seeing the different things one can do with a basic recipe and gives options if one doesn't quite fit the family preferences.  I'm going to keep the recipes on file for another night because tonight I've got salmon on the menu.  We'll have DH's fave Dijon mustard/panko crusted salmon with asparagus and crispy potato cubes (the latter two being done in the air fryer) for dinner tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  Extra prayers for the people of Ukraine and all who are standing up to their oppressors.  We'll clink our glasses together to salute all on the celebration list.  Be safe, get your boosters, wear masks when you need to, and stay well.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

The flowering trees in the neighborhood  have all lost their blossoms but were so lovely  when they all  bloomed

at once.I will wear purple and try one of the recipes later. The  quote is a good one.

Good Morning All,

We have cloud cover for a while ( I think it’s marine layer) and we’re expecting a hot day today. We had clear skies for last night’s eclipse. The meal looks interesting.

I just might try one of these with egg white wraps, Debbie. Never tried to bake them before, but it would greatly reduce the carbs. These do sound nummy.

I’m wondering what an egg wrap is. Is it a thin omelette?

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning. I am taking a quick break from clearing out the last of the kitchen cabinets. Replacement of cabinets, counter top and dish washer is due to begin late morning or early afternoon (it is only 8:20 here). I will be away for the next few days at the Durango Kennel Club shows in Farmington, NM. Back on the weekend. Take care all.... hope weather behaves, covid goes away and the Putin comes to his senses. Lot to ask I know.

For all the cruisers here who have had to go through this, Walgreen's offers both Rapid NAAT test or Rapid Antigen test with results within 2 hours.

This is what Princess Cruises has on their website:

Guests must take a SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) viral test that's either an antigen test or a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT).

Antigen tests include:
Rapid antigen
Viral antigen
Antigen chromatographic digital immunoassay
Antigen chemiluminescence immunoassay
Antigen lateral flow fluorescence

Nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT) include:
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)
Reverse transcription real-time PCR (RT-PCR)
Quantitative PCR (qPCR)
Reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP)
Transcription-mediated amplification (TMA)
Molecular test or molecular diagnostic
Isothermal amplification
Droplet digital PCR or digital droplet PCR (ddPCR)
Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)

So which test would you choose?  I can make my appointments tomorrow.
