Oh no Graham!  I'm very sorry to hear the news.  But at least you're keeping on top of it.  Keep us updated.🙏

Getting a lot of info from WINK news out of Ft. Myers, some amazing videos and live shots of storm surge on the streets of Naples. Sanibel Island is under water as is most of Ft. Myers Beach, not looking good in Cape Coral either.

Thank you for keeping everyone updated.  You have power still I suppose so that's good news.

Debbie @dfishI was so happy to tell DH about the last seller's new deal falling through!  Just like me, he got a huge laugh out of that!  I'm so happy you two have moved on!  We're thinking his realtor was hoping you and Sis would come back with a new offer.  Forget that buddy!

@LcubedI hope you get to make that house hunting trip next week.  In the meantime start looking on websites like realtor.com, zillow.com and trulia.com.  You can see a lot that way and be prepared.

Sending prayers for all the Floridians and other affected by Ian.  We will have rain and wind here in North Carolina by Saturday, but we are lucky this time around.

@dfishthis mug is for you.  I love the mid-Century modern look of the new house.  Congratulations.

@kazu, I took a solo cruise years ago after a really sad time, and it was just what I needed.  I could stay in my cabin (in my robe and snoozing on my sofa) if I wanted to, or I could be around people if I wanted to.

Please take good care, everyone.

Good morning, Dailyites.  Lots of news today - congratulations on the new home, @dfish, to the Floridians, stay safe!   Eastern Canada has a major clean-up job ahead with so much damage from Fiona, hope Florida fares better.  Terry, @smitty34877, hope the Covid passes you by.  You don't need that again.  Jacqui, @kazu, a holiday cruise sounds wonderful, and may be just what you need.  I think J&J are on one too, but on the west coast.  Graham, @grapau27, hope the skin lesions are nothing serious and they get at them pdq!

I see @StLouisCruisers' photos are not like mine of Nha Trang, so will add a few.  We were there in 2014 on the Volendamand I have forgotten a lot, to will post Pat's diary entry first (he has been keeping diaries of our cruises for a while, and they are a great help for this senior brain!)  We were travelling with Pat's DS and her hubby and our youngest, Cathy, and we had a great active roll call.

Sunday, February 9, 2014
At 8.00 am 17 of us met on the dockside for a tour of Nha Trang (Vietnam) organized by Judy, another of our Meet & Greet Group. Our tour guide was Dong Pham, owner of his own tour company. Our first stop was a silk factory in XQ Historical Village. Next, we stopped at a family bakery where Dung  Pham bought some freshly made bread rolls made from cassava. They were delicious. Our next stop was an orphanage which housed about 120 children. We then visited a mat-making factory. Several of us, including Cathy, worked the loom. Some of us bought place mats. We then stopped at a family-run restaurant for fruit and drinks. Our next stop was a rice noodle making facility. We then visited a 48 meter-high Buddha and adjoining cemetery. We then visited a family-run business making the traditional Vietnamese conical hats. Several of us, including Ann, bought such hats. Lunch was next at a small restaurant by the river. Following the lunch we boarded two boats and "cruised" down the river to Nha Trang to board the bus again. Our next port of call were the Cham Towers, followed by a visit to a market. For those who wanted to, walked on a sandy beach and dipped toes in the sea! We stopped at a rice paddy field on the way back to the ship for A photo op.

I have a lot of photos, many need a few posts to add them all!  It was a very interesting day.

@dfishHa Ha, I knew Karma would come around and kick Mr. Foot Dragger in the pants sooner than later!  And you're laughing all the way to the bank.  Woo Hoo!!!

Watching some footage on the Weather Channel - super scary stuff; continuing prayers for safety for all.

The NHC and NOAA were predicting storm surge up to 18 feet for the West Coast.  And that does not include the waves.

Please be safe all you West Coasters.

Right now the eye is predicted to cross the East Coast just South of Daytona. If accurate, that could put me on the West side of the storm which will help me. I haven’t heard much about the size of the eye, but crossing the peninsula will most likely change that anyway.

Last I heard is the eye is 30 miles wide, I'm sure by the time it reaches your area the hurricane will be downgraded to a 1 or 2, it's very close to a 5 down here.

Has it made landfall yet?

The winds may not even be hurricane strength by the time they get here. It is so slow moving, and crossing the peninsula will help.

But that does increase the predicted rainfall. The Northern part of the county just North of me is expecting 15 - 20 inches of rain. Which is probably what you are expecting.

Ok, I need to head out with my dog who HATES getting wet. This will be fun.

No landfall yet in Placida, I'm guessing a half hour from landfall.

Thank you to my special Dailyite friends for all your kind words of support.

I was told in my April check up to keep an eye on these lesions but I saw a new specialist today and after a very close look he said he would cut them out at the same time rather than doing a biopsy first.

He said possible 4-6 weeks time 🤞.

 Kindest regards.

Graham.

The Weather Channel is showing a Ft Myers Beach webcam that they know to be 6 feet off the ground. The webcam is now showing underwater pictures as if it's in an aquarium.

@MISTER 67, thanks for your continued reports. Stay safe, please.

-M.

I saw that webcam, we have 2 lamps on in the condo and they have been flickering a lot in the last few minutes, will probably be losing power soon.

@dfish Karma indeed! You get the last laugh on that first seller.

@grapau27 Sorry to hear you have those lesions that will need to be cut out. Prayers for the best outcome.

@MISTER 67 I'm seeing video from Ft. Myers on The Weather Channel and even a camera at 6ft up is nearly underwater! Hard to fathom what it's like there.

@Vict0riann Thanks for the photos.
