Land & Sea - Live from Barcelona & the Oosterdam Transatlantic - November 5th, 2022

Today we took a one of our “free” ship tours- Discover Elche: UNESCO
World Heritage Site.  Although the bus ride was an hour and 20 minutes, it was interesting to see the country side.  We selected this tour to see the palm trees and gardens.  We were not disappointed.

 

 

 

 

 

We also had some time in the city.

Jacqui, so glad that you are onboard and settling in.

Just looking at the sailaway images makes me slightly upset that we were not able to make it.

I suppose you wont be doing to much 'zapateado' or 'golpe' at the flamenco show, but we really hope that you can still enjoy a very special cruise.

Thank you Kazu & all others.  Love all the pics & comments.  Hope your foot is healing & you will be out of that wheelchair soon.  An injury is never good, bummer it happened so early in your vacation.

Is anyone else having trouble with this thread?

When I click on the title, instead of bringing me to the latest unread post, it continually brings me to post #154 (Girona images).  It is only with this thread that it happens!  Every other thread brings me to the latest unread post.

Kazu, Thank you so much for taking us along on this adventure.  We have just added 5 days in Barcelona to a December trip to Europe and I have made a list of everything and every place you reported on.  I may have missed it, but is there a company in Barcelona that you used for excursions?  I have been to Barcelona before but my husband has not.  It's nice to see that you are enjoying the cruise.  So looking forward to all of your posts!  Thank you again soooooooo much, Cherie

I used Spain Day Tours as well for my tours in Barcelona.  Booked them as private tours not shared.  Everyone was very happy with their guides and drivers.

I was having serious issues, Colin.  Even my digest didn’t show me all of the posts.  Sheesh!

 

And just for you, I ordered the cheese plate last night 

 

 

and yes, there were crackers!  

 

 

I don’t think there are any in the Lido though.  Once I am more mobile, I’ll take a thorough look.

Wasn’t able to get any in Barcelona but it is on the list for today or tomorrow..never fear - can’t have wine & cheese get together without crackers 😉

Ok, my beef for the day from dinner last night - I MISS MY WINE STEWARDS.  

 

A bottle of wine was a LOT faster with wine stewards 😉 

 

Ordered 2 bottles of wine last night - one red and white.   Instead of bringing me the Sauvignon Blanc and instead they brought a Cabernet Sauvignon.  Sheesh.   It eventually got corrected.  😉

Here’s a tip for anyone who is mobility challenged.  The shuttle in Malaga is NOT accessible unless arrangements are made in advance.  Who knew?

The city centre is very close to the fairly new ship terminal in Malaga and we just walked.

Good point about the shuttle.

Several years ago in Madeira where you are due to visit there was special mini buses for wheelchair users.

Hopefully there are plenty of taxis for anyone who needs them.

Boy I am confused.  We are in Malaga and tonight is a dressy night. (The “new” term).  There are 3 dressy nights - would have thought the first one would have been our sea day and 2 others on the 2 sea days?  

And it’s a silver Gala night.  I thought Silver was the 2nd one?  We sure picked the wrong night for Canaletto didn’t we?

I am having a new appreciation of this, believe me.  I can tell you where every “good” washroom is on the ship.

One thing I really appreciate and never noticed before - there is signage at every disabled washroom on the ship that tells you where they all are.  👍
