Suites get 2 points per night normally with double or more occupancy. Solo in a suite gets 3 points per night, which is what I need on a 4 night to get the 12 total we need. Kindly, Dan Ahh, I didn't understand that detail. It seems like a bad idea on the cruise line's part: two of you would buy more drinks, attend more dinners in a specialty restaurant, buy more excursions. They'd make more money if they gave you a financial nudge to "cruise double". But I'm just rambling.
The Fun Researcher Posted November 10, 2022 Author #27 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Got me thinking. Is solo in an interior or balcony 2 points per night? Thx, Dan If so, I could find a cheap 6 night but I don't think I'd want to be away that long.

Yes, any cabin below JS meant for two gets that. Edited November 10, 2022 by Biker19

Drink prices have gone nuts on RCCL in my opinion. It would nice to have that perk nailed down for cruises going forward. We have one cruise booked already, and probably another, for summer next year. Beyond Diamond (D+, P...), I don't really care as we will already have the main perk we've looked forward to. It's not work to jump on a 4 night cruise to get us to Diamond before our more substantial upcoming cruises. There are some options for just over $1,100 total for a single occupancy JS. I get to enjoy some time off, and my wife and son benefit as well going forward. Dan While you say only the 4 drinks matter the other perks dont hurt. You and your wife get one free day of wifi. You can do one and then the other, many couples do it and spread out the 2 free days. If you contact a ta and get a group price, there is a discount that I get on group prices, doesnt seem to work booking direct. $200 or $225 off the total for balcony discount doesnt hurt. And I also go to the diamond lounge in the morning for a cup of specialty coffee, worth something to me. I'm not much of a drinker, but love the wifi perk. What a boring world if we were all the same. 4

That's crazy, my post was just an attempt at humor, the price for that cruise especially as a solo in a suite is way out of my range. Jeff you made the comment. Cruise Laws require you to follow through and book the cruise as you stated. Failing to follow through will mean you return to gold status. They don’t impact the number of C&A points given if you are traveling solo right?

cruiseguy1016 Posted November 10, 2022 #39 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Most people here know of RCI's inept IT department. How have your daughters earned their points? DId any of them come from their parents? Have you cruised without them since they turned 18 and has their total gone up after your cruise? I know a family (wink, wink) whose children continued to earn their parents' points after the children turned 18. The children should be only platinum on their own but they have become Diamond after they turned 18 because they continued to earn their parents' points. Tell your daughters to cross their fingers, they may get lucky.

My daughters are both platinum and my son just got Emerald through us after our June cruise since he’s still 15. Here’s hoping for an IT issue in our favor 🙂 Dan

Yeah, I'm not into fake savings, but I think our OP has a good idea here -- he and his family (at least 3/5 of his family) will save real money on drinks ... every time they cruise in the future. I'd do this.
Rare VernRDH Posted November 10, 2022 #45 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Just a thought about 15 yo son: when he turns 18, his status will change. He will only have the credits for cruises he has actually been on. This happened with DD, who is now 23. We were Diamond before she turned 18, but then her status changed because she had only earned Emerald. She just made Diamond this summer after our 9 night Adventure cruise booked during double points promo. We, however are now D+.
Rare aubreyc1988 Posted November 10, 2022 #46 Share Posted November 10, 2022 I did a 4 day cruise solo a few weeks ago to get to diamond, left my husband at home...he understood I was doing it for us haha! I was lucky because I got the 4 day cruise comped via the casino so didn't play solo supplement, and I am prime in the casino so I got free drinks while I was in there...and my flight was only 100.00 RT. With my upcoming cruises next year with my husband, we will now both be diamond, get the 4 free drinks each + the free drinks we get in casino for being prime + a free day of internet...so yeah, worth it I think

There is a lot of value in what the OP is doing though. Drinks cost at least 15.00 each, so for each diamond member, that is at least a 60.00 savings per day. That is not even counting the value of the other diamond perks. Even if there wasn't any value to it, some people enjoy certain things, others don't. No need to shame anyone. In Sept on the Liberty, I paid 1k for the beverage package and it will be really nice not having to do that now that we are diamond. Usually, I break even on the beverage package when I get it. But now I am Diamond, the 4 drinks+Prime drinks means I don't have to, and that is a savings for me. Also, I usually buy the internet when at sea so the free day per diamond member is another nice perk. I am also a coffee drinks and will normally buy coffee in the morning from Cafe Promenade or Starbucks, but having access to the diamond lounge will eliminate the need for that. The Fun Researcher Posted November 11, 2022 Author #50 Share Posted November 11, 2022 Even at $13 per drink, 4 drinks per day, on a single 7 night cruise for my wife and I that alone saves $728. We don’t drink much more than four drinks any given day so this perk is perfect for us. We’ve slogged through our cruises to the 68 points that we have now. We don’t cruise to get points, we cruise to have a great vacation with friends and/or family. However, now that we are so close it would be nice to have this perk in hand for the many future cruises we hope to complete, God willing. -Dan
