Just off the Equinox

Hi Everyone,

I will try to be brief.

Just returned from a 9 night cruise on the Equinox itinerary consisted of 4 ports Grand Cayman , Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire and 4 sea days.

We had a most enjoyable cruise, We found the staff and service to be nothing short of excellent.

The food in the MDR we thought was excellent.

The Buffet ( Oceanview) Very good.

The entertainment was very good with a nice mix of different shows and music , some were better than others but overall very good.

Eddie the Cruise director was high energy , he and his staff did a great job.

The coffee bar is not to be missed, very popular spot , sometimes a short wait , but well worth it.

We did not dine in the specialty restaurants.

Bartenders did a great job at all locations on the ship.

The wifi is hit and miss along with the Imessaging onboard.

If you use a taxi in Aruba , tell them to bring you back to the ship, we had a guy tell us we had to get out at the main port security gate which we found later

not to be true.

embarkation and debarkation was probably the best ever of our 15 lifetime cruises.

I hope everyone enjoys their next or current cruise as much as we did this one. Great to be cruising again.

I will be boarding Equinox in February for a nine night ABC cruise, but we stop in Puerta Plata rather than Grand Cayman.  Equinox was my first Celebrity cruise and I’m thrilled to be returning.

Thanks for the positive feedback👍

Was the ship at full capacity, please? We were on in Sept/Oct. and both cruises were about 95% full. Al Bacio was slammed every day, but service was still good when sitting at the tables. The carry out lines tended to be rather long, but moved well.

I was on this same cruise. I agree with virtually all the OP's observations and would similarly categorize the MDR food as excellent.

I would only add that the cocktail service in the casino was the worst of any of our 17 Celebrity cruises. Long waits to order and even longer waits for the drinks to arrive.  They could easily have easily deployed two more servers.

By contrast, beverage service in the Oceanview was really good. We like to order cappuccinos at breakfast in the Oceanview and flagging down a server when the venue is packed (as it often was on this cruise) can be a challenge. However, this time around, I was pleased to encounter many helpful servers and prompt and efficient delivery.

Did not visit the Martini Bar.

Not sure of the specific number regarding how full the ship was, but based on the eyeball test, it was close to capacity.

All in all, a most satisfying cruise.

JoJo and Rimple were on point at the Casino bar on my Equinox Sept 17th sailing in the Casino Bar..I could use another Turkey 101 about now.

We sail on the Equinox in January, do the King beds separate? We have an additional veranda room booked with for our 20 something adult children and hope they can separate like they did on RCCL

99% sure they separate…I’ve been in the seam too many times. 🙂

Thanks for your review.

We love the Equinox and will be back on her next June with our 12-year-old granddaughter for her first cruising experience. Our 2021 Equinox cruise was our first in the Retreat and it so spoiled us, that now we are only booking suites for the future. We sailed on the Reflection in August from Rome and also loved that ship too.

We were on the following cruise and our disembarcation day was yesterday 11/21.   Had a great time and enjoyed the World Class Bar the best of all of the bars on the ship.   We had an AquaSpa cabin and dined in Blu all but 1 night.  Great service and excellent dinners.   No specialty dining on this cruise.

Thanks for the review.  One thing with the wifi is the settings on all ships, the OP says iMessages so they have an iphone.  There are two auto-join settings everyone will want to enable.  Go into settings, Wi-Fi and all the way to the bottom set "Auto-Join Hotspot" to "automatic".  From the same Wi-Fi screen, find the ships wifi network, press the blue I and enable "Auto-Join".  It won't be perfect but it greatly reduces the times you need to manually re-connect to the ships hotspot.

This is all great to hear.  We sail the holiday cruise a month from today.  Equinox was our first S class experience.  Love her.

We'll be on that cruise with you as well, can't wait. This will be our first cruise over Christmas and New Years. See you on board

We were in an aft facing Sky Suite last year on the Equinox and nothing about our cabin looked tired or worn, it was one of the best cabins we have been in on any cruise line. Now our Signature Suite on the HAL Oosterdam this summer was what I would describe as tired and worn and that ship was refurbished in 2019 and out of service 2020 and most of 2021. The couch was thread worn and the carpeting had several bad stains. The outside of the front door was dented and badly scratched as was most of the hallway from our cabin.
