The Discovery Princess did not have non-smoking nights on our cruises. I remember when Princess used to do that. Do any of the other ships have non-smoking nights?

Inexplicably, they seem to have deep-sixed that notion.  Perhaps they decided that there is less formal clothing being worn to get all smoky?  Clearly, the NS nights were not being held for guest health reasons or they would have no justification to allow smoking on other nights.  This will only change with dog-on-a-bone lobbying.

It was listed in the Patters that way on Enchanted last November, but as I didn't go to the Casino can't say if it was enforced or not.

All Princess ships cruising in Australia and New Zealand  have NO smoking anywhere indoors.

But I Am truly baffled by what they are.

I had a few guesses:

• stanchions with downcast lighting (to reduce glare while still illuminating the deck) but a nighttime aerial video of the deck showed no light emanating from said stanchions

• speakers

• stanchions containing WiFi devices to help with Princess medallion tracking

I'm assuming that Sun Princess has freshly brewed coffee (guessing Lavazza based upon PR announcements)  that's included with the base fare versus the Nestle cough syrup, right?

I don’t know what are smoking but it ain’t cigarettes!  I don’t know what those are and am baffled by them but they are NOT ashtrays. Ashtrays like that outside bars are extremely susceptible to fires and would not be allowed on cruise ships.

I’ll report back in 4 weeks but if those are ashtrays, sent me your contact info and I’ll buy you a bottle of your favorite liquor (within reason) of your choice.

@valdean @Sox Fan Cruiser Sox Fan Cruiser, you won that bet.  Those white columns are light stands (see photo below).  Small black ashtrays are put out on the tables for the smokers to use.

As usual you have the best information.

The cabin we had was 12409 and the balcony was slightly less long than the cabin in the video 14423.

The cabin we switched to is 15459, which has a bigger balcony but is not private and not in the Sphere.

Not sure which is the best choice.

Opinions anyone.

Thanks for your help everyone.

So, I’m confused.. what is the cabin number of the above angled cabin?

I see the super long one is 14423.

Are these cabins all super narrow, or is it the camera or me?

TIA

So relieved to see that the Sea View Terrace & Bar isn't included as I will be using it most days.

They don’t have the “super-duper-fancee” headrests so they aren’t sanctuary loungers.

Lol

Those headrest pillows are probably removable in the sanctuary.

So, they could only steal the naked loungers. 🤣

Give it a few months and those light poles will diminish. Passengers are bound to knock them over or reverse into them on their mobility scooters 😂

As i understand it, not just Princess ships but all cruise ships in Australia and New Zealand.  At least that is what we were told on our 28 day Round Australia cruise last spring and that was really appreciated since the casino is right next to the International Cafe on the Coral Princess.  The IC was our favorite place for breakfast but we would have ruled it out immediately if there was smoking in the casino.

Yes, those loungers seem to be on the Premium Deluxe Balconies...

I am hoping for one of the Deluxe Balconies that are a bit larger,  but of course, none of those seem to have the loungers.

MiniSuites and Premium Deluxe balconies used to have a real table.

That seems to be gone.

I would want my table!

Just to change the topic a bit...

I just wish somebody on my SUN sailing would cancel a Sphere Balcony cabin, move to larger cabin...  Too bad I hesitated in booking, until all were booked up.   There were a few available when we first started looking!!!!

lol!!! I’m hoping for the same for a mini suite!!!

To change the topic just slightly: curious if the Ocean View rooms have the glass doors on the wardrobe like the balcony and mini suites?  I just can't seem to find any pictures of it at all.  Thanks.

Judy in SW Florida

I saw one video (hollydaysatsea) that showed an ocean view.  They do not have the glass doors and only two doors, not three as the balcony cabins show.  Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing!  I'll pass the info on.  Sox Fan Cruiser is off the hook indeed! I kept looking for photos of the Port side to see if the poles were there as well.  I could only find a Princess photo which looked like one of those "pre" photos (no poles).  Lights make sense, although easy to run into if you are not paying attention.

I check every day to see if we can reserve it yet!!!  🙂

The Princess gal says, “It’s included in the package” when referring to Spellbound. Does that mean Premium Pkg gets Spellbound, or is she referring to unlimited drinks with the Spellbound entrance fee? Tricky wording. Also, “nightly live music happening now in The Dome” but she doesn’t say cirque shows. Again, tricky language.

Very happy to hear shows started in The Arena. I hope that new pirate show is live.
