dfish Posted March 7, 2023 #26 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Good morning, everyone! It is supposed to be sunny and 40F here in mid-Michigan today. Sounds good to me! I slept much better last night and don't recall any wakeup periods during the night. I'm heading to the gym this morning and then I have a CT scan this afternoon for the mass on my right adrenal gland. @summer slope wonderful news about Bailey! May he continue to thrive. @RedneckBob Happy Birthday! Today's meal is supposed to be an easy one. But, easy is dependent on point of view. This first one claims to come together in under 30 minutes. @Crazy For Cats Jake, just leave the shrimp out. You could substitute chicken. https://tastesbetterfromscratch.com/pad-thai/ This recipe says you can even use steak instead of shrimp, @Crazy For Cats Jake. It also says it comes together in 20 minutes, but I suspect that is after you have done all the chopping and whisking. https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a53823/easy-pad-thai-recipe/ And this claims to be the easiest pad thai of them all. https://therecipecritic.com/pad-thai/ This next one says definitely do not add ketchup or peanut butter, something the previous recipes do recommend. Try it both ways and do it the way you like best. https://www.feastingathome.com/15-minute-pad-thai/ And, in honor of Crown Roast of Pork day, here is a recipe from Tyler Florence and the Food Network. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/the-ultimate-pork-crown-roast-recipe-1943670 Wishing you all a wonderful day! 22

aliaschief Posted March 7, 2023 #28 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Good morning and Happy Birthday @RedneckBob. It’s finally here. Going to be another beautiful day and a possible record high. We need to do some house cleaning today after our walks. Our house cleaner of almost 25 years has a herniated disc and has decided to retire after impending surgery. She is like family to us and will be missed. Last week at our small group get together I asked if anyone knew or could recommend a reliable house cleaner. Saturday I got a call from a lady who has been cleaning houses in our area for years. She is scheduled to come next week and states if you like my work then I will add you to my schedule to come every two weeks and at half the price we have been paying. She is originally from England and married a military man who retired here. Our previous house cleaner was from Spain and ended up here when her military husband retired here. So we are hoping this works out. In the meantime we have been doing a pretty good job of keeping the house cleaned on our own. Enough! Thanks to all who keep the Daily going. Have a great day. ger_77 Posted March 7, 2023 #29 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I love cereal and when our DS was young, if DH wasn't home for dinner, the two of us would often have cereal that night. Crown Roast Pork has it's own day, who knew? Cheers for the Peace Corps once again - they deserve it. Although the temperature has warmed up about 8 degrees, today we have a strong wind that is bringing the "feels like" back down to -34C. Once again, the air will hurt my face when I have to go out. @grapau27, I chuckled when I saw the picture of snow in your yard - here we call it a "heavy frost". I keep reading about all the folks here who have terrible nights with interruptions for various reasons, well, I have a confession to make. When I go to bed, I sleep like the dead. I usually crash around 10:30 or 11 while we're watching the news (yes, we have a TV in our bedroom, and have for the past 45 years), and don't wake up (or at least become fully conscious) until around 6 in the morning. I feel so bad when I read about people who are part of the 3AM club, and feel fortunate that I'm not a member of that group. There, now I feel better, having gotten that off my chest. DH is heading out in about an hour to get a hair cut, and at noon I'm heading to the gal down the street who has a salon in her home to have her do something with mine. I told her I'm tired of looking like a shaggy calico cat. She works wonders, believe me! @RedneckBobHappy Birthday to you! @summer slopeI'm so happy to hear Bailey is responding to the medication and is feeling better! @smitty34877I hope the visit to the cardiologist goes well for your DH today. @Cruzin TerriHopefully you'll find the cause of your pain and will be able to have it treated. I enjoy Pad Thai, but DH doesn't, so I won't be making today's menu suggestion. We have lots of leftover rotisserie chicken from the big box store yesterday, so I'll be putting together a nice chicken Caesar salad that we'll enjoy at the kitchen table tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who is in need, especially those with man made and natural disasters. Cheers to all who are celebrating today. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry 27

Rare ottahand7 Posted March 7, 2023 #42 Share Posted March 7, 2023 @RedneckBob Happy birthday to you! 🎂🍾 Thank you all for our Daily Reports. @dfish thanks for adding the crown roast recipe it looks much more tempting than all the pasta. @Cruzin Terri I hope that you feel better soon. Prayers for all on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. We are in Altar de Chao today and we are staying onboard. Really sick of tendering and way too many people with masks on to huddle up with others. Now our room steward has one on. Yesterday we lucked out leaving Parintins as we had one of the double decker river boats to take us back to the ship. Last night's dinner in Canaletto was very good but not quite as good as the Italian Cellar Master Dinner. Lots of wine but one of them kicked off a migraine. Our group of three couples are getting together for the final Cellar Master dinner in the Pinnacle. Last night was Mediterranean Cellar Master Dinner. Fish was Branzino not my favorite so John enjoyed mine. Our friends had done the Amazon overnight shore excursion and raved about everything about it. Have a great day! marshhawk Posted March 7, 2023 #45 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Good Tuesday Morning Dailyites! Saturday night we got a prerecorded message from DH's pulmonologist that he had an appointment for Monday morning. An appointment that he forgot to give me paperwork on, so it took me by surprise, we trudged out yesterday morning, and were there more than 2 hours. No change, but this time I was there when he was scheduled, so back in 3 months. Yesterday we had our taxes done, I realized Sunday night that I did not have nay tax paperwork on a withdrawal that I had done on my retirement account. So, I, went on line and printed out my own tax paperwork, then walked the dog, and got to the tax guy on time. However, this year, it turns out that our jobs had not been taking out taxes properly on us, and we ended up owing! So the money we had saved (not much) for the vacation is going to Uncle Sam instead. So, now we have to work even more. Arghh! DH got his first sale for the Bowl last night! It was very exciting! I have to take an online test today on sexual harassment. I took it two years ago, so unless DH has made a complaint about me, than I have no idea why I have to take it again. So off to make breakfast (no cereal) and then take the test, and then walk the dog, fix lunch, start a pot roast in the crock pot, and go to work. @dfishI'm glad that the pain has lessened, and you got a better sleep! @rafinmdI am very happy to read that you are sleeping better. I read this article the other day on the googly news about not sleeping well- https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/sleeping-way-could-add-5-133000965.html @summer slope I am very happy that Bailey is doing better! Hugs to you all! Have a great day! 22

JazzyV Posted March 7, 2023 #48 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Good morning. Cruise Critic is loading very slowly today for me; frustrating, so I'm saving my post in Word in case it disappears. I like cereal, mainly oatmeal in winter. In college days cold cereal was often dinner! I've never made a crown roast of pork or eaten it. I will salute the Peace Corps again. I like the quote, although both quality and longevity would be nice. I like pad thai, and have made a version with zoodles. I'll pass on the drink and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Ulvik. I appreciate any photos, It's sunny today, but our 50+ temps are gone; it will be mid-to-upper 40's all week, with wind chill in the 30's. I've got lots of little stuff to do; paperwork, organizing, etc. Also my traveling partner is having a hissy fit about the TA requiring a C-19 test before boarding, sigh. @StLouisCruisers Thanks for our start today. @RedneckBob Happy Birthday! Sorry I missed adding it to the Celebration List. @rafinmd I hope you can string together many days of good sleep. @smitty34877 Prayers for you and DH as you meet with the specialist Cardiologist, that no intervention is needed. I do hope you can find an aide that is comfortable working with Tana's condition. @summer slope Great news about your kitty! @Cruzin Terri I'm glad you slept well, and hope the pain subsides soon. Do you think all the moving and unpacking was the cause? @dfish Thank you for the recipes. Good luck with the CT scan this afternoon. @aliaschief I hope the new house cleaner works out, and thanks for the memes. @ottahand7 Thanks for the food porn. Do you think people are just wearing masks to protect themselves? @marshhawk Ugh on your jobs not taking out taxes properly. Congrats to DH on the sale! @kazu Thinking of you and you are missed. Take care. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List. Stay well everyone. 18

The Peace Core should have another day and the cereal popular around here is oatmeal. I tried making my own pad Thai and decided that it was much easier to get it as take out. There is a Thai restaurant on our Main Street that does a great job. Crown Roast of pork is nice, again, if someone else makes it. We have not been to the port. I agree with the MLK quote. Today DH and I will head out for a consultation with a cardiologist regarding his prior CT scan findings. This doctor is a specialist in that particular area. I am hoping he says nothing further needs to be done. DSIL is staying with Tana while we are gone. He also works from home and can bring the laptop to our side of the house. We tried another aide over the weekend who was nervous about the equipment and how to help Tana. I could see right away that her anxiety increased Tana’s anxiety. We are working with some of Tana’s nurse friends to find someone suitable. It is a difficult job and you do have to remain calm or things go quickly in the wrong direction. @Cruzin Terri, I hope you feel better this morning but it sounds very painful. The medicine mistake in the ER would scare me but hopefully it won’t have any side effects. Take care everyone Terry, I hope today's appointment goes exactly the way you hope it will. Sorry about the latest aide, and perhaps you will find someone through Tana's nurse friends. My thoughts are with you all. 2 hours ago, summer slope said: Good morning.
