In a panic, missed final payment

It is not there.

That’s not good. Have you done a mock booking to see if your cabin is back in available inventory? If it is I’d put it on hold so when you call tomorrow to plead your case you’ll at least have a cabin in your category they can put you back into if they agree to reinstate your reservation.

That happened to our friends traveling with us.  They canceled her cruise within days.  She had to rebook.  She finally got her deposit moved to the new rez, thank goodness, but she lost her Balcony cabin, they were all booked so had to go down to a porthole.  She was ticked.  But she always waits for the email that tells her final is due....My warning, don't depend on that.  I always know when final is.

They are not closed today, I just made 2 phone calls ,Crown & Anchor & Casino both are open.

But if you past their hours (or before) you might have gotten a recording.

Good Luck

They are the worlds worst. The reason why I thought they were closed was because at 5 AM this morning they said that they would not open until 7 o’clock tomorrow morning.

I did get it resolved, I guess. I had to pay $400 more but I’ve got a ocean view, balcony guarantee, instead of a neighborhood, guarantee balcony. That is probably well worth $400 extra. Yes, they were open today.

This actually just happened to me, family emergency occurred over the week it was due, and checking emails was the last thing on my mind, just totally blanked out. According to emails, it looks like they gave me 5 days past the due date to make the payment, still missed it but was only a $200/deposit lost since it was made on the ship. Ended up rebooking a different cruise in Oct that is better suited for us anyway, and we were able to change Southwest tickets to the new date as well without loss. Glad things worked out for you and that you were able to score a better room, too, enjoy your cruise!

"She was ticked".. She missed final payment, so what followed that was all on her. Not sure why she 'was ticked' at Royal for the consequences of her error.

Another good reason to have a good TA.  Ours are friends and she has our cc info.  She always reminds us just to make sure we want to make final payment, but we've never even come close.  I always tell her to pay off a week or so ahead and if we're doing a b2b, to pay both off at the same time.

That's what I told her....it was her responsibility.  We have done many cruises with her before and she said that has always been what she has done.  They have always sent her the email requesting payment.  I think something happened with her computer and her email account or something, we did check with RCCL and they said they did send her final notice...she claims she never got them.  I'm sure she learned a valuable lesson.

Its good practice to pay it off earlier than the final day , just in case something goes wrong with the payment and it doesnt go through.

I do what you do also , why leave it until the last minute.

I realize this is probably overkill, but I have about 2-3 different reminders in various places (PC, phone, calendar, etc.) of when final payment is due for any booked cruises. And then I pay about 7-10 days early.

There's really no excuse for missing it..

I guess that is why I pay mine in full as soon as I book it

Had one disappear in evening the day it was due, only option to get it back next day was pay current rates. Then one in 2019 wasn't going after Family Emergency, when 15days before sailing got notice to pay or loose it and reservation was still on the site. Things changed by then and paid off/went on Cruise

Depending on the amount, and far ahead you book, that would be a less than optimal financial decision.  Can't you just write down the date?

Me too. I put it as a reminder in 2 different calendars.

Who said she was ‘ticked’ at Royal?  She was ‘ticked’ at her own error.it happens.

I guess you and I interpreted the original comment differently. I understood that she was 'ticked' at Royal for jacking her around in getting the cruise re-booked after canceling her booking for missing final payment.

While you apparently understood that she was 'ticked' at herself for missing the final payment deadline, and thus had to go through all the hassle of getting the cruise re-booked.

Either interpretation is plausible, right?

Either interpretation is correct.  I just made final payment on a cruise and didn’t get any reminder email from Royal. I feel it’s up to me to remember and with belonging to the roll call,  many are talking about it…and it’s on my calendar.  I would be ticked at myself for forgetting, but of course..some catastrophic event could occur…so it’s possible to miss the date.  I’m happy it worked out for her despite the lapse.
