PAYING for Pizza in Sorrento’s

I didn’t hear anything about adding to the port.

Thanks. I thought it was discussed at Q&A but realized this was off topic for this thread so deleted. The construction has been mentioned elsewhere and since the sailing bought the port out i thought it might have come up as to what they were doing there

They are not charging.

It was only a question asked on a survey-would you pay a nominal fee for pizza, and if there was a charge would it cause you to cruise another line.

I just can't believe they even asked the question-

I grew up in New Jersey.  Therefore I’m kinda icky about pizza.  It’s been a couple of years, but as I recall Sorentos was pretty decent.  I guess I’ll see on Friday!

Our trip on NCL north to Anchorage is going to be tough for RCCL on the return trip.

This sounds like one more nail in the coffin.

If you're going to be in Anchorage and want to have some good pizza, go to The Moose's Tooth. I didn't expect to find good pizza in Alaska. The Moose's Tooth was quite a surprise.

Yea! Let's argue about the pizza quality in two threads at the same time.

This one was started last Thursday, and has 12 pages already.

It was also linked in second post in this thread. Please. let's kill this one, or at least have the mods merge it.

RCCL is pushing pricing and service cutbacks just like Disney. Until demand slows, Royal has no reason to stop.

For me, Royal is diluting the whole cruising experience. Food and cruising has been synonymous. Service too. I don’t need/expect 5 star but I do want value and Royal is not giving it. To charge for pizza is a slap in the face IMO. If you want to cut waste, limit slices a person. If someone eats it all, they can get more. People can live with that.

For our next cruise, we (9 guests) are trying MSC. For the price, it’s worth the try (royal is double the $$$ on the same week and identical itinerary). I see value here with MSC and willing to try.

Next they're going to charge for more than 1 roll of toilet paper per week.😁 I can see maybe another pizza joint making REAL pizza's and charging, but not that cardboard crap that is only good at 2am when I'm "slightly" intoxicated 🤪

Oh ya, sure can!  Isn't that the name of a GM/Chevy truck?  :classic_ninja:

It sure is and I traded one in a few years ago, but are they still making them? If so, they don’t seem to be as popular as before. Royal doesn’t want to go in that direction.

Isn't Giovanni’s already another pizza joint with a charge? That is what it looked like to me on Odyssey.

DO NOT, even jokingly, give them any ideas!

😱

How about Flushs, per day?  $1.50 per flush after 3 per day?  Pay to use public restrooms?  Sink/shower water, 5 Gallons per day limit, pay for more?  Oh, you want hot water in your sink or shower, extra?  Rent a chair in the casino?  Oh, how about lighting in your cabin?  Why not coin-operated (or swipe your card) lighting?  Cover-charge to get in all adult beverage venues w/minimum?  A charge for entertainment venues?  Oh man, they should make me the CEO.  I could totally ruin the company.

If we want something for late night, we boost it from the WJ and leave it in the room before the show.

And if they are naive  enough to start charging for Sorrento's , It's not hard to figure how many people would premptively (secure) a snack for later from WJ , incase they were hungry. I personally  have some nights where i feel like eating the ship and other nights I can fade away into lala land with nothing . If I know there is no free 'latenight' venue where I can stuff my face if I want to , I am gonna load up from windjammer for later . Some nights that will be eaten , but there will be MUCH more waste .

Cheers

Well, sounds to me you are already speaking like a CFO (Chief Financial Officer).

You are only one step away. The CEO better watch where they are walking.

If on Oasis class, some of the pre-packaged stuff like wraps in Park Cafe aren't bad for that sorta thing (when you just want something edible). I grabbed one to toss in my fridge just to have last cruise and it served its purpose. And I have a gallon ziploc bag of cookies at all times, of course. Never a bad time to grab a cookie.

They should charge for a towel animal package.  3 Towel Animals for $79.

If you would like to pack the completed towels animals to take home, there will be a $25 towel charge per animal and every person in the cabin needs to sign up for their own animals. There will be no animal towel sharing between occupants of the cabin similar to the drink packages.

🤣

Which cruise lines are doing this?

I'll be taking some to go food from the WJ if I need to for later on. If I eat it thats fine, but if I don't it will get tossed in the am. That will be more food wasted which I think Royal is trying to avoid. Imagine if 1/3 of the ship did this and ended up tossing it, how much would they lose? They might be shooting themselves in the foot.

That’s exactly what I said earlier. You and I won’t be the only ones. Royal will be shooting themselves in the foot if they do start charging.

Food on a cruise shiopthere are always options that I have already paid for ( so far ). If Sorrento's goes the way of the CFO then more of these options will be searched out .

Thx

Ironically , I have only eaten 1 specialty , chops , ( because it was comped ). My wifes meal was fantastic , But my striploin was horrible . Sent back , then horrible again . The head waiter was in shock . As I am generally not that fussy , I just ate it the 2nd time , even though she was begging me to let her get a 3rd

We don't do much specialty dining. Usually one actual specialty meal per cruise and we now go to Playmakers after trying it on Indy last year and loving it. The $9 burgers are now $12.99 but we'll live.

I'll eat anything and my wife doesn't need fine dining but she is very picky so it's more for her (although I do think the food there is very good). Happy wife...

These boards are monitored by Royal Caribbean so it is good people voice their opinion on the subject. I can assure you if they are floating the idea out there via survey, they are leaning towards making this come to fruition. My opinion is the pizza on Royal ships is absolutely low grade and one of the worst at sea. I love pizza and I rarely go near it unless it is late night with no other options and even then it is a bad idea to go to bed with that heartburn laden garbage in your stomach.  Similar to the Dinasaur, the once all-inclusive nature of cruising is rapidly going away.  Oh, and for the record, there is no @#!*!! way I would pay for their pizza.
