Rare colesc15 Posted September 2, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2023 Currently I have the Oasis booked in February. It's a free casino cruise, so only paid port fees and taxes. It's a 7 day, goes to Nassau, Coco cay, Labadee, and Falmouth. Lackluster at best. Our cabin is just an interior. For the same week, I can book a different free casino cruise on Independence of the seas. It's only a 5 nighter, goes to Falmouth and Nassau. With this cruise, we'd be able to get a junior suite comped. I've gone back and forth on just keeping what we have or moving to Indy. We've sailed on both ships and been to all islands for both. Ocean Boy Posted September 2, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2023 Seven free nights on Oasis sounds better to me that five free nights on Indy. Neither itinerary is very exciting. There is plenty to do on Oasis to not have to spend much time in a inside cabin. I've never stayed in a JS so I can't say from experience if it is worth 2 less days on the ship.
PompeySailor Posted September 2, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2023 If you are a point chaser Indy 10 points Oasis 7 points Enjoy whichever you choose 🎰
Rare colesc15 Posted September 2, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted September 2, 2023 One thing I considered is doing a free 3 day on Freedom, get off the ship and go down the cruise port and hop on Indy for the 5 nighter, so a total of 8 nights. Could also do that with free cruises, but felt like more work than keeping oasis.
Rare Tree_skier Posted September 2, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2023 I'd stick with Oasis... I spite of the lackluster itinerary 7 nights on an Oasis ship beets 5 nights on Independence all day long. While I think there is a big difference between an Interior and JS not enough difference to get me to cruise fewer days on an inferior ship.
SilkySal Posted September 2, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2023 I agree with some others that I would choose more nights on the Oasis. Maybe you could upgrade to a balcony (if you want) or bid on a different cabin during the Royal Up program (within 30 days for some). Happy cruising!
Rare OCSC Mike Posted September 2, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 2, 2023 Another vote for 7 nights on Oasis... I'm one of those cruisers who doesn't care about his cabin, I'm a fan of CocoCay, and I'd rather have more eating venues so it's a no-brainer for me.
ymncruise Posted September 2, 2023 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2023 I’d do the labadee and coco cay itinerary.
la_croisiere_s'amuse Posted September 2, 2023 #9 Share Posted September 2, 2023 Just for a variety of points of view ... I personally find that cruising without a balcony just isn't worth it. I had an inside on a company cruise, and decided never again. I'm content with a standard balcony cabin, but the extra space/bathtub/walk-in closet of a JS is awfully nice too. If you've done both ships and all the ports before, I'm guessing you're a fairly frequent cruiser, so it's not like you have to worry about missing out on something you'll never have a chance to do again. If it were me, JS vs. inside would be the deciding factor, but either way--choosing between two free cruises is a pretty great problem to have! 😁
loman Posted September 2, 2023 #10 Share Posted September 2, 2023 Another option : pay the difference for an upgrade to an ocean view balcony on Oasis and go with that ,
Jerseygirl1416 Posted September 2, 2023 #11 Share Posted September 2, 2023 We just did Liberty and after many cruises on the big girls I found myself a little bored. I’d definitely stick to Oasis although we did have a Jr suite on Liberty and I really liked the cabin and the balcony.
Another_Critic Posted September 2, 2023 #12 Share Posted September 2, 2023 I'm looking forward to my cruise on Liberty in a Jr suite closet (aka inside cabin). 🙂
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 2, 2023 #13 Share Posted September 2, 2023 I would pick the longer cruise… because it is longer. I would pick the the Oasis for the features of the ship.
Mikew0805 Posted September 2, 2023 #14 Share Posted September 2, 2023 (edited) Actually, I think I would have a hard time with this decision as well. JS vs. inside.. really does not matter to me, I do not use the balcony anyway, and I have been on nothing but comped JS's for a few years. 1. Grease vs. Aqua 80... Aqua 80 for me. (I will see every showing of this.) 2. Freeze Frame vs. Frozen in Time... Frozen in time for me. 3. Playmakers on Indy is great, so so on Oasis, but Portside BBQ on Oasis is great, and it is the only ship to get it on. 4. Oasis has a Lime & Coconut, and Indy does not. (this is ridiculous since I have like 2 total a cruise.. but I really like them.) Well I guess it would not be hard for me, I would pick Oasis. cruiseguy1016 Posted September 2, 2023 #15 Share Posted September 2, 2023 (edited) I would not cruise in an inside cabin, I need natural light. I also shy away from the bigger ships. So, with those to critera, I would pick the Indy. BUT.... this is a free cruise. I would treat it a little differenlty. I would upgrade to at least an ocean view cabin and take the 7 nights on Oasis. PhillyFan33579 Posted September 3, 2023 #16 Share Posted September 3, 2023 I have been on independence twice this year and enjoyed both cruises. However, at least in my book, Freedom class ships don’t compare to Oasis class ships, so going on Oasis would be an easy decision for me.
George C Posted September 3, 2023 #17 Share Posted September 3, 2023 Another vote for the oasis , we have a couple of free offers all for inside cabins on celebrity, can you pay extra to upgrade?

CruisinBanka Posted September 3, 2023 #19 Share Posted September 3, 2023 Definitely 7 days on Oasis but I would try my best to upgrade to a balcony!
Rare colesc15 Posted September 3, 2023 Author #20 Share Posted September 3, 2023 Right now, upgrading to lowest category oceanview balcony is about a grand. No thanks. Lol.
cruiserking Posted September 4, 2023 #21 Share Posted September 4, 2023 7 days aboard a ship always beats out 5 days unless the ports are really spectacular. On day 5, of a one week cruise, you'll be relishing two more days in La La Land instead of packing and affixing those wretched debark stickers to your luggage. Happy Cruising. Rare colesc15 Posted September 4, 2023 Author #22 Share Posted September 4, 2023 So as a follow up, decided to use my casino offer in another way. Ended up booking the following week on oasis so we can do our first ever back to back. Was able to get the same interior for both weeks, so may or may not try to Royal up.

FWIW, while not switching rooms is nice, we switched during our only B2B and it went very smoothly and wasn't a big deal at all.

True. And we don't travel with a massive amount of stuff. I plan on price watching to see if upgrading goes does, or we may put in royal up bids for even a boardwalk balcony. For the amount we're in our cabin, this being our first interior may or may not enjoy it. We shall see. Excited for our first b2b though
